Things to do Before 2020

A few years ago I had great success with making a to do list in the months leading up to the end of the year and checking things off.  It kept me accountable to at least do some of the things that I needed to get done. In the spirit of that I am making a list of all the things I need to get done and want to get done in the next little while and every month we will up date and see how far we are getting along. 1) Set up my Ko-fi page. 2) Make new pony ears. 3) Swap out the ribbon on my top hat for pink. 4) Paint my boxing gloves and figure out how to seal. 5) Take my measurements and log for June. 6) Find a tiny alligator plushie. 7) Log the comics I lave read recently onto Goodreads. 8) Find my Ipad. 9) Find a purse that I want to carry. 10) Finish the last module of this event planning section and write exam. 11) Start my new sewing course. 12) Update my CPR and first aide. 13) Find and paint shoes for Cat's 5K costume. 14) Buy Cat black shorts for he...

The Big Read - 200 of the most popular books

This morning I was going through the blogs I read as usual and I found this over at  Reading Life  and was instantly intrigued and wanted to know how many of these books I had read.  And possibly add the rest to my TBR list (not like it's not long enough). The Big Read is a survey on books carried out by the BBC in the United Kingdom in 2003.  Over three-quarters of a million votes were received.  This list of the 200 most popular books from the survey comes from Wikipedia . 47/200 not that great, I feel like there is a few more that I think I have read but I don't quite remember so I did not cross them off.  I wish I had Goodreads long ago.  Time to start reading I guess. The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien  Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman  The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams  Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J. K. Rowling  To Kill a Mockingbird by Har...

Books I Loved When I Was Very Young: The Wind In The Willows - Kenneth Gramah Jillian Jiggs - Phoebe Gilman  The Babysitter's Club - Ann M. Martin Amelia Bedelia - Peggy Parish Sweet Valley High - Francine Pascal Book hoarder that I am now I wish that I still had my Babysitter's Club and Sweet Valley books to share with Cat when she got the right age for them.  That little monkey loves to read almost as much as I did when I was small.

I'd Hate Waking Up Inside These Books: Misery - Stephen King Flowers In The Attic - V.C. Andrews Soul of The Fire - Terry Goodkind  A Game of Thrones - George R. R. Martin Pet Cemetery - Stephen King Now don't get me wrong, some of these books I really, really love.  I just don't want to wake up one day (or every day) fearing for my life.   As a side note, making lists is fun.  It reminds me how much I love stuff.  LOVE ALL THE THINGS!

Today's List: May 10, 2015

One of my goals for the blog this year is to blog more and to express more of myself through blogging and I though that listing would be a good way.   I'd Love Waking Up Inside These Books: Eragon - Christopher Paolini (I would love to be an elf) The Magician's Nephew - C.S. Lewis The Once and Future King - T.H. Elliot The Ruins Of Ambrai - Melanie Rawn Her Majesty's Wizard - Christopher Stasheff There may be a bit of a theme there but these are some of my favourite books and I would love to spend time in any of there worlds.  There are others of course but these are the top ones.

I have to say, I love a good blog hop, especially a regular one.  It gives me motivation to write regular which was something my blog was lacking for a while, it gives me a topic to write about which is something I occasionally also lack and it reminds me to go and visit the bloggers that I love regularly.  You know, before I have to slog through a month of posts that I do want to read because I wants to know what they have been up to but I don't want to read all at once.  Dani and Jax over at Cover Girls have started a new blog hop for 2015 that is right up my alley, it's quick, in list format and I can participate as much or as little as I want. Which is cool, because sometimes life gets busy.  This week's topic is: Five Favourite Novels Read in 2014, not an easy list for me to make but I managed to whittle it down to five. 1) Heart of the Ocean - Heather B Moore 2) Chronicles of Steele: Raven - Pauline Creeden 3) Who R U Really? - Margo Kelly 4) Al...

The Twelve Books Kids Should Read Before Twelve

Image
A few weeks ago I posted Chapters list of twelve books they thought kids should read before they turned twelve and my thoughts on it.  The main thing I thought was that there were some books missing from their list and as promised I complied my own list of books that were a huge part of my childhood and I think all kids should read.  Adults too if they haven't. This list is in no particular order other than possibly my own preference. This is on my (very long) list of favourite books, it was the book that started my lifetime love of all things science fiction.  I actually give people a funny look when they tell me they haven't read it, kind of like the one Ace gives people when they say they don't play Minecraft. For those who aren't aware this is the first story in The Chronicles of Narnia, in my humble opinion it is the best.  At the very least it is not one to be skipped. I'm more than a little surprised this one didn't make their list, as fa...

How Many Books Have You Read Off This List?

Image
I got this email from Chapters/Indigo today..12 book to read before you turn 12.  Of course I was dying to know what they thought the essential kids books were and whether or not I was in agreement.  Turns out I mostly am, there are only I few I would add to the list. (most of these I love as an adult) Their list: A book I have read many times this is high on my list of all time favorite books, easily in the top hundred. I love this book so much I have multiple copies of it.  I have both the Philospher's Stone and the Sorcerer's Stone because there's a difference and I am crazy like that.  Also have it in French for Ace. Now, this one I haven't read but it is on my to read list because I have heard great things about it. I may tackle it while I am in Cuba. Ace loves these books so much he has them in English and French.  I was not a big fan but what ever keeps them reading. I know a lot of people who don't like these books for one reas...
