TBR Review: Bunnicula

Image
BEWARE THE HARE! Is he or isn't he a vampire? Before it's too late, Harold the dog and Chester the cat must find out the truth about the newest pet in the Monroe household -- a suspicious-looking bunny with unusual habits... and fangs! This book has been in my TBR pile since a YA book swap before I moved.  In other words, a while.  I finally knocked it off in about half an hour the other day.  So it was a pretty quick read, which is good because if I am going to hit my Goodreads goal this year I need to knock back those quick reads.  I am 47 books away. Bunnicula is a fun book, I really enjoyed it.  Harold has a great point of view of what is going on in his household.  I kind of feel a bit like Chester everyday, frazzled and not able to convince people of the things that I know are going on. I feel both of my kids would enjoy reading this a great deal, it has been passed along to Ace's TBR pile and then it will make it's way to Cat's.  ...

TBR Review: Cinderella and The Duke

Image
Never welcomed into society circles, Rosalind Allen gave up her marriage prospects long ago--life has taught her she'll only get hurt. So she's shocked when an encounter with a mysterious stranger makes her long to reconsider... Little does Rosalind know that her mystery man is Leo Beauchamp, Duke of Cheriton, traveling in disguise to evade the ladies of the ton! Impoverished Rosalind is the first woman to captivate Leo--but can he persuade this wary Cinderella to trust him with her heart? Not in my pile of books very long this was an interesting story.  I am not a huge Harlequin Romance fan but I find that they are great to keep around for when I am feeling sick because I can plow through five or six of them in an afternoon and then feel like I have accomplished something.  It's a sweet story of an underdog woman and a quite bossy Duke,  though he was quite well written so he could boss me around anytime.

From The TBR Pile Review: Stardust

Image
From multi award-winning creator of "The Sandman", Neil Gaiman, comes the incredible work that broke new ground in graphic novel storytelling, re-issued in a deluxe hardback edition with a new cover and eight additional pages of bonus material. Together with acclaimed artist Charles Vess, Gaiman returns to the realm of Faerie for a lavishly illustrated tale of an ancient world where magic and humanity mingle in extraordinary ways. Gaiman's exquisitely crafted text and Vess' breathtaking illustrations combine to create a novel with pictures, an adult fairy tale that plunges the reader into the very heart of an enchanting magical land. Tying in with the release of the film, this is your chance to own a piece of "Stardust"! Not on my TBR pile for long I started this book and then wondered off for a bit because I am trying to read all the new Star Wars cannon stuff and then wondered back because th at stuff pulls on the heart strings a little to...

From My TBR Review: The Penderwicks: A Summer Tale of Four Sisters, Two Rabbits, and a Very Interesting Boy

Image
The Penderwick sisters busily discover the summertime magic of Arundel estate’s sprawling gardens, treasure-filled attic, tame rabbits, and the cook who makes the best gingerbread in Massachusetts. Best of all is Jeffrey Tifton, son of Arundel’s owner, the perfect companion for their adventures. Icy-hearted Mrs. Tifton is less pleased with the Penderwicks than Jeffrey, and warns the new friends to stay out of trouble. Is that any fun? For sure the summer will be unforgettable. This book has been on my to be read pile since before we moved.  I received it in a book swap for favourite young adult book.  The book I sent in exchange was Jack Templar Monster Hunter by Jeff Gunhus, because I always recommend his work when and where I can as I love it.  I feel after finally reading this that it was a good exchange.   This was a fun book, a family vacation can lead to tons of adventures as a child.  I remember the countless antics I got up to as a kid explo...
