Fast Five Friday: May 29, 2015

Image
This blog hop is the brainchild of Dani and Jax over at  Cover Girls  and it's quickly become one of my favourites.  It's fast, in list format and I can participate as much or as little as I want. Which is cool, because sometimes life gets busy. This week's topic is: Five Childhood Cartoons: 1) Gem and The Holograms. I started watching this again recently on Netflix and while it's not a binge watching show by any means it is still fabulous. 2) Care Bears 3) She-ra Princess of Power 4) Tiny Toons This is the ring tone on my phone, I sit quote Tiny Toons ALL THE TIME. 5) Sailor Moon. This is just a small spectrum of the childhood cartoons I love, I could keep going until you fall asleep from boredom.  It's a great way to come up with new ideas for Cosplay (like I don't have a long enough list, lol!) The topics for the upcoming weeks are: May 29:  5 childhood cartoons June 5:  5 books you couldn't put down June 12:...

Express Yourself:

Image
The Express Yourself Weekly Meme is hosted  Bouquet Of Books  and  Entertaining Interests .  This week's topic is: We are 1/3 of the way through the year. Name something you have achieved thus far. My biggest achievement this year is deciding to do a 5k run, which was totally insane. I looked over some of the 5k training apps and decided that I liked  Zombies, Run! 5k .  I figured the most likely cause of me running in real life is going to be a Zombie apocalypse so why not train that way? All joking aside, I really do love this app, the workouts start off nice and easy and it works with the music on my phone.  It even shows me which songs increase my productivity and which ones decrease it when I log in online. This is a blog hop, go on and check out what everyone else is up to, and join in if you want:

Celebrate The Small Things: May 15, 2015

Image
Celebrate the Small Things is hosted by  Lexa Cain  along with wonderful co- hosts  Writing Off The Edge  and  The Cyborg Mom . The biggest highlight of my week was stopping at the mall to go to the bank and finding the sweetest dress at H&M that I think would be perfect for Cat to wear as her flower girl dress for the wedding. Oh, and I got the call from the phone repair guy saying that my cell phone is fixed.  Woo hoo!  I am super excited to have it back for tomorrow's Geek Girl Brunch outing. Check out what everyone else is celebrating below:

What's Up Wednesday

Image
I seem to have become a bit addicted to blog hops lately, it's because I love having the pressure of having a topic to write about taken off if me for the moment.  Life has sucked any and all of the creative ideas I once had out of my brain and I am stuck staring at my computer screen blankly most days.  That's where finding interesting blog hops to join and find fresh things to write about (give me a kick in the pants to write) comes in. What's Up Wednesday is a blog hop created by  Jamie Morrow  and  Erin Funk  to help writers connect.  I need a little encouragement in the area of writing these days so I felt motivated to join in and find some new friends.  The headings for the WUW posts are: WHAT I'M READING WHAT I'M WRITING (+ WRITING GOAL) WHAT WORKS FOR ME WHAT ELSE IS NEW WHAT I'M READING Right now I am reading a wonderful mish-mash of things for various reading challenges and reviews.  I have on the go War an...

Celebrate The Small Things: November 28, 2014

Image
It's time again for the Celebrate the Small Things blog hop hosted by  Scribblings of an Aspiring Author .  It's a chance to look back over the week and remember the things big and small that made it a little brighter. I am excited this week to be getting to be nearing the end of my Christmas shopping, one or two small thing left and I will hopefully be done long before the day arrives. Also Ace is going to a birthday party tonight so Cat and I are going to drop him off and go have dinner out.  That will be nice. And to top the weekend off with a bang the kids and I are getting together with a friend and her son tomorrow to go to kid's fest downtown.  It should be a ton of fun and lots of outdoor fun for the kids means a quiet Sunday with Auntie Margie putting the Christmas tree up. What are you celebrating this week? This is a blog hop, feel free to join in below:

Express Yourself: Childhood Halloween Costume

Image
The Express Yourself Weekly Meme is hosted  Bouquet Of Books  and  Entertaining Interests .  This week's topic is: What is a costume you wore for Halloween as a child? Being born in 1981 I wore many awesome Halloween costumes as a kid, I vaguely remember the year of the carebear costume with the mask I could barely breathe out of.  Or the year we were in Montreal for Halloween to visit my Grandfather and my mom dress me up as a Hobo. I think my favourite childhood Halloween costume though was the year I was a bunny, because bunnies are awesome.  Plus I really love face paint.

It's time again for the Celebrate the Small Things blog hop hosted by  Scribblings of an Aspiring Author .  It's a chance to look back over the week and remember the things big and small that made it a little brighter. This week I am celebrating catching up on all my correspondence, it's such a small thing but it takes a huge weight off my shoulders. I also have a full week of steady exercise behind me with little to no pain in my knee.  (yay!)  I was a little worried because last Saturday after work my knee had swollen up as bad as it was swelling back in February but after going through the exercises it is MUCH better. We are heading out to Hamilton tomorrow for  Hamilton Comic Con  and I am debating entering the cosplay contest.  It would be my first contes and I am wearing my TARDIS cosplay.  Which is one of my favourites and the one I have put the most hours in on.  I will let you know how it goes. Please check out what e...

Express Yourself: Favourite Thing About Autumn

Image
The Express Yourself Weekly Meme is hosted  Bouquet Of Books  and  Entertaining Interests .  This week's topic is: name one thing you love about Autumn, even if you hate it. I absolutely love Autumn, the cooler weather, the crunchy leaves under my boots.  The chance to wear my extensive collection of boots. My favourite thing about Autumn though is the beautiful changes that take place in the world around us.  The leaves change colours in the trees and then fall to the ground blanketing it in crunchy wonderfulness.  All of which makes for such beautiful pictures. Don't forget to check out what everyone else loves about Autumn.

Express Yourself: Childhood Aspirations

Image
The Express Yourself Weekly Meme is hosted  Bouquet Of Books  and  Entertaining Interests .  I have been reading it for a while and I always want to jump in but I have been hesitant to bite off another thing to do right now.   However there will never be a perfect time to do something, so I decided to just jump right in and figure it out as I went along.  The question this week is what did you want to be when you grew up? The first thing I ever remember wanting to be was a doctor, my doctor when I was a kid was just the coolest woman and I wanted to be just like her.  Until the first time she gave me a needle and I discovered that doctors just like nurses have to give needles.  That just wasn't going to happen, I hate needles. After that it was a succession of little kid ambitions mermaid, firefighter, princess and then I read A Wrinkle In Time.  Since that day I have wanted to be a writer and though there have been many bumps in...

Songs of Summer

Image
I am a big lover of music (as you may have noticed) so  when I stumbled on this blog hop hosted by  The Armchair Squid , Servitor Ludi , and  Subliminal Coffee  I jumped right on board.  Music is a powerful memory trigger and there's nothing quite like it bring back thoughts of people and places long pushed to the far corners of ones mind. The first song that comes to mind when I think of summer is 'Surfin' Safari' from the Beach Boys.  Many moons ago, when I was in Grade One, at the end of the year we did a variety show of sorts and my group did this song.  Looking back on it now I am grateful I grew up before the time of cell phones as someone's parents probably would have put that out on Facebook or their blog or something and then it would have been out there FOREVER. The second song that came to mind was Whigfield's 'Saturday Night' which brings back warm, fuzzy memories of summer in high school. Another song that reminds me of summe...
