Spooktacular Giveaway Hop

Image
When I was much younger than I am now, I loved nothing more that a good "spooky" story.  I spent many nights laying up in bed reading books that were designed to make your skin crawl and leave you with goose bumps. My personal favourite author for Young Adult Thrillers was and probably still is Christopher Pike.  Twenty years after reading his books some of them still stand out in my mind in perfect clarity.  The top one would be Remember Me. Something about Shari's story struck a chord with me that has echoed through the last twenty years, as any good book should I suppose. Sadly when I was a teenager I didn't hold on to as many books as I do now so I spend a lot of time hunting to replace the ones I really wish I had kept. (Sweet Valley High anyone?) I am giving away a $15 Amazon gift card in the hopes that you can use it to buy a book to be loved as much as I loved this one. a Rafflecopter giveaway This post is part of The Spooktacular Giveaw...

The Gatekeeper's Trilogy Promo and Giveaway

Kirkus Reviews  wrote that it's "sure to thrill Hunger Games fans," and Midwest Book Reviews calls it "a powerful young adult fantasy." A teen becomes entangled with the gods of Mount Olympus when one of them, Thanatos, the god of death, wants his chance at love. He makes a deal with his father, Hades, but not all the gods want him to succeed. Part paranormal romance and part adventure story, this trilogy follows Therese's adventures as she struggles to overcome the challenges the gods dish her in her quest to become like them. For one week only, from June 7th to June 13th, the digital box set of The Gatekeeper's Trilogy , usually $5.98, can be downloaded from any ebook retailer for 99 cents! Slow Cooker Recipes For Beginners Review and Giveaway

Image
My slow cooker is probably one of the most underused appliances in my house.  I was so excited when we got it on sale when I was at home on maternity leave with Cat, it meant that we could continue to have great, home cooked meals once I went back to work.  Sadly, the prep for it seemed to take my longer than actually making a home cooked meal so it just sat on the counter collecting dust. I did use it for Christmas though, boy can I make a great slow cooker ham.  Yummy!  Which frees up my oven to make a turkey if I want.  Anyway, fast forward to the opportunity to review this book, I want to use my slow cooker more.  The idea of coming home after working ten or twelve hours and not having to cook because it's ready is fantastic.  So I volunteered happily. The first recipe I decided to test out was the roast because our family has a deep love of beef. There it is all rubbed with spices and placed in the slow cooker, looks like it will be ...

The Cover Plug Review and Giveaway

Image
Even with the kids being a little older I still worry about them and the electrical outlets.  Heck, sometimes I worry about me and the electrical outlets.  Especially the one in the bathroom near the sink.  Some days I think that one was but there for the soul purpose of taking years off of my life. Take a look at this cover plate though, called the  Cover Plug  it sits over the outlet completely and pretty much just blends into the wall. I wish these had been around when my babies were tiny, tiny.  We used those old fashioned round things.  I could ever get them back out of the outlet to use it but Ace sure had no problem.  With this he would never even have been tempted. Want to try them out for yourself?  Enter below. a Rafflecopter giveaway I received this product in exchange for an honest review.

Learning Success Review and Giveaway

Image
There is nothing that stresses me more than the fact that Ace is having trouble in school.  He's such a bright kid and the frustration that he has with certain aspects of stuff he's expected to do at school is turning our lives into a nightmare. The Learning Success Program is a simple do-at home program that will show you how to find core problems and overcome them.  Learning is made up of basic core skills.  There are sixteen of them in all.  Typical learning difficulties are small weaknesses in a combination of two or three of these skills.   The Learning Success program offers a variety of activities building in complexity designed to help children improve their learning skills.  So far the only improvement I have seen in Ace is his focus but that's a huge start because at least he is focusing. I look forward to seeing where the activities go over time. I received this product in exchange for an honest review. a Rafflecopter giveaway

Book Tour Review: Who R U Really?

Image
Who R U Really? by Margo Kelly Thea's overprotective parents are driving her insane. They invade her privacy, ask too many questions, and restrict her online time so severely that Thea feels she has no life at all. When she discovers a new role-playing game online, Thea breaks the rules by staying up late to play. She's living a double life: on one hand, the obedient daughter; on the other, a girl slipping deeper into darkness. In the world of the game, Thea falls under the spell of Kit, an older boy whose smarts and savvy can't defeat his loneliness and near-suicidal despair. As Kit draws soft-hearted Thea into his drama, she creates a full plate of cover stories for her parents and then even her friends. Soon, Thea is all alone in the dark world with Kit, who worries her more and more, but also seems to be the only person who really "gets" her. Is he frightening, the way he seems sometimes, or only terribly sad? Should Thea fear Kit, or pity him? And now, K...
