One Million Steps In One Month

Last month my boss and I were talking about my Fitbit and how I like it and doing weekly challenges and that sort of thing and he told me about a friend of his who is a very busy guy and completed a million steps in a month challenge. I thought that was a fantastic idea and of course immediately wanted to try it.  My boss suggested that I do it in a month with 31 days so that I have a little extra time to break it down over so I decided to give it a go for July. A million steps in 31 days works out to around 32,259 steps a day well over double what I average on most days now but about what I hit on a really good day. I had a problem with my Fitbit battery earlier this week so I am just hoping that it keeps up through this challenge. I will try to post my daily totals here on the blog to keep track and keep accountable. Wish me luck.

The Big Read - 200 of the most popular books

This morning I was going through the blogs I read as usual and I found this over at  Reading Life  and was instantly intrigued and wanted to know how many of these books I had read.  And possibly add the rest to my TBR list (not like it's not long enough). The Big Read is a survey on books carried out by the BBC in the United Kingdom in 2003.  Over three-quarters of a million votes were received.  This list of the 200 most popular books from the survey comes from Wikipedia . 47/200 not that great, I feel like there is a few more that I think I have read but I don't quite remember so I did not cross them off.  I wish I had Goodreads long ago.  Time to start reading I guess. The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien  Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman  The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams  Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J. K. Rowling  To Kill a Mockingbird by Har...

When Lucifer Met Calamity Review

Image
Take a chance on Love, Laughter…and Lucifer. Lucifer: “Tell me, how does such a little woman manage to keep up so much trouble in such a short space of time?” All Hell Breaks ‘Luce’ – When fate brings them together in a joint take-down of a common enemy, they get a chance at romance. But oh what a tangled tale that is conceived, when the lady plots to mislead. Calamity’s got her own set of rules…and while she’s willing to give the sexy lawyer a shot, a girl’s got to have a back-up plan in case things go sideways. Right? This book dealt with the very serious issue of sexual harassment at work in a very fun and light hearted way. Why take a chance with karma? Why not get even with your boss right?  I found it to be a n interesting read.  Lots of action and great characters.

Proposals and Poison Review

Image
Love can be a very dangerous thing.  At least it seems that way to Adri Pyper, the premier wedding planner in Sun Valley, Idaho. When one of her clients dies mysteriously, Adri takes the advice of the local detective and swears she will stay out of the investigation . . . this time. Luke Stetson's involvement in the case, along with the possibility of a kiss between the two, should be enough incentive to keep Adri out of trouble. But when a dog-themed wedding is almost ruined by a suspect, Adri and her assistant, Lorea, are thrust into private eye mode. When poison enters the picture, even a reluctant sleuth can’t steer clear of danger.   I love Adri, she is one of my favourite characters that I have read in a series that is not fantasy. I also love Luke and I was happy to see that he and Adri made such progress here. And once again lots of great craft and recipe ideas. I also really love the book club questions at the end of the story. Great for us blogger types to get ...
