Butterfly Sympathy

Happy Wednesday, peeps! Yay, we are mid-week!  My friend asked me if I had any sympathy cards she could buy, and my supply was pretty low so I spent a day stocking up! (John told me at our age, I should have a large supply on hand, LOL!  Cheeky guy!)  Anyway, this is one that she didn't take and I was my favorite one, so I thought I'd share it:

This butterfly paper is from Kaiser Craft, and the butterflies have a nice sheen to them.  I just love the vintage look of this particular pattern from the Pen & Ink pad!  I mounted the paper on a mat of Basic Beige on which I had embossed a line of stitching, then adhered it to a Crumb Cake card base.  The little black scallop had been floating around on my craft table, unused from another project, so I added a sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes and popped it up on top:

On the inside, a simple sympathy sentiment from the retired Special Moments:

And speaking of a special moment, on the way home from church on Sunday, this little baby ran out in front of us (John had to beep his horn to get her on her way back to momma, who had been right in front of her):

It was certainly the tiniest fawn I have ever seen!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Another Sympathy Card

Happy day-after-Christmas, everyone! I have been MIA with all my holiday preparations, but sadly, I needed another sympathy card this week! I snuck into my craft room a couple days ago and made this simple card.  It uses the sketch from Inspire.Create, and the colors from Creative Colour Challenges:

I pulled out an old wooden stamp from Stampscapes, along with some DSPs and this is what I came up with:

I used Basic Beige for the stamped panel and card, and Country Woods and Countryside Inn DSPs.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  I was surprised how nice the Blueberry Bushel ink looked on the Basic Beige cardstock:

I used an older Our Daily Bread Designs verse for the inside, along with a Hero Arts sentiment as well:

My only embellishment was some Basic Beige ribbon.  The family who lost their mom used to have a bed and breakfast called the Log House, so I thought this image was appropriate.  So glad you popped in today!

So on Christmas, I had most of my immediate family, their children and grandchildren, for dinner and dessert.  That included four boys, ranging in ages from one to nine! And Maven was in the mix too with her almost-one-year-old voice!  The noise was deafening, but it was fun.  I recently saw a clip on FB where parents gave babies a choice of two things to play with; one was a toy and the other was something like a box, a spoon, or just something that you wouldn't think would capture their eye, but every time, the child went for the non-toy item!  Maven's mom sent me this video, which totally reinforces that idea (along with the dads who were involved as well!); be sure to turn up the audio, because listening to this little Cole laugh just made me laugh too:

And here's that little Maven herself with Aunt Dana! (And she was playing with a spoon!)

They just grow up so fast!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AHSC604 Thanksgiving Blessings

Happy Monday, peeps! Time for a new Atlantic Hearts sketch!  I almost went literal here and made another Christmas card, but I've been making lots of them lately, so I decided I had better bulk up on some Thanksgiving cards!  Here's the sketch:

See what I mean? It's hard to get that image out of one's head! Anyway, I knew I wanted to use these wheat sheaf dies on my card, so I cut them out of Bumblebee cardstock, then went searching in my vast stash of papers for something appropriate.  Here we go:

I pulled together papers from various manufacturers and an oldie-but-goodie sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes!

It's hard to see but there are a couple of enamel dots on the floral panel and I added some Cinnamon Cider ribbon for an embellishment.  Since I had three sheaves diecut and only used two on the front, I added the third to the inside along with a Papertrey sentiment:

This sketch is a fun one and I haven't been using Very Vanilla much this season, so it was good to get it out and play with some older goodies!  You can see all the DT's submissions on Wednesday at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge blog, but YOU can play along now!  Thanks for visiting!

I bought this 1000-piece puzzle at a yard sale recently:

It was a challenge, but a fun one!  And instead of having a missing piece, I had an extra piece---see it on the table over on the left?!  That was crazy!  Now I am donating it to my local library--they lend out puzzles as well as books! What a great idea!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP687 Birthday Fishes

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Joanne has a fun sketch for us all at the Paper Players! I hope you'll play along! Check it out:

So many possibilities!  I am always in need of masculine cards, so I thought I'd used the Gone Fishing bundle along with the Let's Go Fishing DSP! Here we go:

I used some of the watery-looking papers for the squares, then diecut and stamped the fish, lure and float in some fun colors! They all went on a Unbounded Love die:

I added a wee bit of Boho Blue twine, tied in a square knot, and a little birthday sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  The Bojo Blue mat was partially diecut with another die from the set to follow along with the watery theme!  A sentiment from Unbounded Love went on the inside; wouldn't it be fun if it said "May All your FISHES Come True"?

Be sure to hurry over to the Paper Players and see what the other designers created! I hope that will give you some inspiration to play with Joanne's sketch as well!  Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Cassidy went to a basketball camp at St Mary's College on Maryland's Eastern Shore.  I'll find out today how she made out!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

CASC&S532 Thinking of You

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  The Clean and Simple Colours and Sketches challenge is a pretty color one this week:

And my sweet friend from over the pond, Joanne, is the hostess!  I loved her card SO MUCH that I am CASEing it, using a retired set called Pocket Silhouettes, along with another oldie, Teeny Tiny Wishes!  Here we go with my simple card:

I used markers to color each of the florals, then diecut them with a Stitched Shapes die.  They were mounted on an Azure Afternoon panel that was embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, and I also added a strip of Balmy Blue under them.  The sentiment was also stamped in Balmy Blue and diecut with a banner die (although I am wishing I had stamped it in Old Olive!!):

A Stamp Simply sentiment went on the inside, along with a repeat of one of the silhouettes, stamped in Balmy Blue:

Sadly, I am going to need another sympathy card....two deaths in two days within our church family!  Thanks for visiting today!

Dana told me the pups got new beds....Eden's not hard to spot, but can you see Ginger?

She's so tiny, I guess she gets cold easily, so she burrows down under the covers, LOL!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

SSC328 Tool Time Birthday

Happy Monday, everyone! Hope your weekend went well! I am using the Sunday Stamps sketch today for a birthday card for my nephew, who is turning 30! Yikes! I remember when he was born; we were having one of the worst cold spells I can remember; the roads and driveways were covered with ice and snow for days and days!  Anyway, here's the sketch:

Since he is definitely a mechanically-inclined guy, of course I had to use the Trusty Tools and Trusty Toolbox stamps and papers for his card:

Sometimes I get hung up and limit myself to using only the colors in the DSP, but I strayed here and went with an Azure Afternoon color theme, along with Smoky Slate and Crushed Curry.  Brad does have a BIG blue Ford tractor, so that diamond-plate embossed background piece is a nod to that!  I stamped and diecut the tools, then mounted them on top of three circles from the DSP.  I added a little sentiment from the retired Teeny Tiny Wishes to the wrench:

On the inside, I used a die and stamps from the Hooray for Surprises set; you pull the little tab and there is a sentiment under the circle.  It's a little tricky to get it lined up, but I made a trial run with some scrap supplies, and I think I got it right--we'll see!!  I did also add the numbers, diecut from Little Numbers, in Brushed Silver cardstock:

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

IM508 Blueberry Get Well Wishes

Happy Thursday, peeps!  The week is whizzing by, isn't it?  I have a friend who's having surgery today and I thought I'd send her a little get-well card using the sketch only from In(k)spire Me:

I thought that large horizontal panel would work well with the new Countryside Borders stamp, and I haven't delved into my new Gingham DSPs, so I put them both to work:

I stamped the images in Blueberry Bushel and diecut them with the matching dies.  I added an oldie-but-goodie sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes; it fit nicely in that little floral border!

Everything went on a Blueberry Bushel gingham background and I used the flip side for the horizontal piece! A few faceted gems were added:

and an encourage sentiment from Stamp Simply on the inside:

It's ready to go in the mail!

Cassidy is spending a few weeks this summer as a junior counselor-in-training at a local Christian retreat center near their home.  They have summer camps and daycare, and it looks pretty awesome.  You can see what they did the first half of the first week at their website HERE.  I tried to find her in amongst the kids, but I had no success...I'll have to ask her if she was able to participate in any of the events.  I do know that she is exhausted when she comes home:

It's a long day for her!  Thanks for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners--of whom I am the worst.  But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life.  1 Timothy 1:15-16

HSS409 CAS Masculine Birthday

Happy Saturday, everyone!  I needed a birthday card for John's nephew, and since most guys do not "ooh" and "aah" over hand-made cards, I made this fairly CAS.  I did use the sketch from Hand Stamped Sentiments along with some papers from He's The Man, since I haven't used them for a while:

So here we go:

I let the paper do all the work, basically!  I cut a rectangle of the vehicle paper and used the Basic Borders dies to round the top of it, then added an Early Espresso mat, doing the same cut with the die.  Another scrap of the DSP provided the layer for the bottom, and since it was a little skimpy, I diecut a banner with another scrap, cut it in half and added it to the sides.  The sentiment is from the retired Teeny Tiny Wishes, diecut, and everything went on a Sahara Sand card that had been embossed with the Gingham embossing folder:

I really like this sketch and I may use it again!  Thanks for visiting today!

Has anyone ever seen the work of David Bird?  This guy is really, really creative!  He creates these little figures called Becorns from acorns and other natural materials, then poses them and takes photos with birds, chipmunks and squirrels!  His website is Becorns Fine Art.  Be sure to click on the "Becorns" link to see how he creates them!!! Here's one I snagged from FB yesterday:

Take some time to look at his website.  You'll be enchanted!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AHSC513 Hello Baby

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  Well, this February we've celebrated a big birthday, a big wedding, and this weekend a big baby shower!  I guess I should be glad we haven't had any snow to mess up the plans!  John's nephew and wife will be having a GIRL!!!  Finally!  So I couldn't wait to make a little baby girl card for her shower; I used the sketch from Atlantic Hearts:

I didn't use quite as many horizontal panels on my card, but I pulled out some pretty pastels from this year's DSP collection and here's what I came up with:

After cutting my DSP into 1" strips and mounting on a Basic White card, I stamped the baby shoes in Smoky Slate ink and added just a wee bit of shading, then fussy- cut them out.  I cut out a filigree heart from the retired Be Mine Stitched Hearts dies and popped the little shoes on top:

Teeny Tiny Wishes came to the rescue once again for a wee little sentiment, punched out with the retired Word Windoe punch:

And I stamped a sentiment from Technique Tuesday's Beauty of Spring on the inside, with another couple of diecut hearts:
She's due in late March, can't wait to see her!  Thanks for popping in today--enjoy your day and be blessed!

RR200 For The Newlyweds

Hi stampers!  A very quick, simple card today; a young-ish couple in our church is getting married on Saturday and the bride loves purple, so I used the sketch from my friends at Retro Rubber to create a card for them. Here's the sketch:

I used a simple sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes and some purple papers, so here we go:

I embossed a Basic White panel with a retired Heart embossing folder, then added some retired Highland Heather DSPs along with some Valentine papers from last year for the lower portion of the card.  I stamped the sentiment (Teeny Tiny Wishes, 2009) in Gorgeous Grape ink.  I added two white glimmer hearts, although it's hard to see the glimmer here, and a purple gem:

I did cheat a wee little bit and added some hearts from Country Bouquet to accent the sentiment from Peaceful Moments (2021):

Now if I could just figure out what to wear, LOL!  Thanks for popping in today!

The party is in full swing here!

The kids escaped to the balcony where they had their own little party!

Poor Avery was outnumbered by all those girls!  And we did manage to get a family shot:

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
