IB28 S'mores for a Boy

Happy Thursday, peeps, and welcome back to another Inspired By challenge!  I needed another baby card, another boy one, too and the prompt Laurel had for us today gave me just the colors I needed for this little bruiser...he weighed in at over eleven pounds when he was born!!!

And in case you were wondering about the "s'mores" in the title, here's the prompt:

Now I am not much of a s'mores fan...I know, weird, right?!  I like all the ingredients of these gooey treats, I just don't like them together!!  I love chocolate, I love marshmallows on a campfire, I love graham crackers with some milk, but they're just too sweet all smooshed together!  But these colors are perfect for the wee little critters from I Dig You, don't you think:

The colors of Bermuda Bay, Early Espresso and the retired Creamy Caramel all worked together so well!  I added some Candy Dots and brads for the wheels, and I just happened to find this little corrugated star I had punched for a previous project but never used!  The sentiment is from Nursery Necessities, stamped on a stitched tag die and also embellished with a Candy Dot:

I added a sentiment and stars from the same Nursery Necessities set!!

Finally, the sketch I used is from the past Fall to Layout #79; I flipped the sketch so the truck wouldn't be driving off the edge of my card:

I hope you'll find some sweet summer inspiration from our photo this week!  Be sure to post it over at the Inspired By blog so we can ALL enjoy it!

Just a girl and her dog, out for ride in the jeep.  Cassidy doesn't seem to mind that Eden is sitting on her lap, LOL!

Thanks for popping in today!   Enjoy your day and be blessed!

GDP145 You Are Wonderful

Happy 4th of July, everyone!  I have a decidedly un-patriotic card today, LOL!  It uses the Global Design Project challenge #145 palette of Grapefruit Grove, Mint Macaron and Fresh Fig:

I also used the Fall-To Layout 78:

I wasn't sure if the black portion on the sketch was actually part of the card, or just a background layer, so I just made my card without it!  So here we go:

I used a piece of Grapefruit Grove DSP on the edge, cutting the corners with a circle punch.  The wreath from Swirly Scribbles thinlets was cut with Mint Macaron, and the flowers from Perennial Birthday (I can't seem to put this set away!) were heat-embossed with Craft White ink and Clear Embossing powder, colored with an aquapainter and reinkers, then fussy-cut:

And sinced I smudge ink on part of the wreath, I added some faceted embellishments.  The sentiment is from Rooted In Nature, and I stamped both elements with some little speckles from the Perennial Birthday set as well:

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

I noticed a robin flying in and out from under our shed roof and scolding me whenever I put the trash out or wanted to use the hose.  I thought it was a bit unusual, but I checked, and sure enough, she had a nest with three babies in it!  I didn't think they would have a nest this late in the season!

I'm keeping an eye on them so I can see when they fledge!!!  Although as hot as it is, I think I would want to stay under the roof in the shade!!

ColourQ154 and FTL207 Sort Of

DSCF8171-001

Hi everyone!  It’s Tuesday and that means ColourQ.  Wow, Arielle really challenged us today---check out this lovely inspiration photo and colors:

cqc154

I will have to say that this card will be filed under the category “Not Liking it All That Much”!  Not to say that the colors aren’t wonderful, but my application of them just leaves something to be desired.  I used the Fall to Layout sketch #207, from memory, so I messed up the sentiment placement, but didn’t realize it until too late.  So here it is:

LeAnne_CQC154

The three colors are actually sponged on the white cardstock; I masked the edges and panels, then stamped my main image in Bravo Burgundy craft ink and heat embossed it with clear EP:

DSCF8170-001

The rest was just simply stamped; I added a bit of dry embossing on the side and added a Summer Starfruit ribbon:

Hope you can find something sweet to create with these colors---zoom on over to the ColourQ blog to share it with us!  We can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Everything tastes better with a “friend”!

ColourQ134 and CAS187

DSCF0392

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  Another exciting color challenge for the ColourQ today----Arielle really made me put on my creative thinking cap with this one:

cqc134

This definitely has an Asian theme to it, and I do not have anything evenly remotely Asian!  But I do have Pocket Silhouettes, which sadly is retiring at the end of May, so I pulled them out and followed the Clean and Simple Fall to Layout 187:

and here’s what I came up with:

CQC134-LeAnne

Although I had my doubts about these colors when I began, I ended up really liking this card!!!  That’s what challenges are for, right?  Each stamped circle was backed with a matching mat, and the two outer ones were embossed with the Elegant Lines embossing folder and enhanced with a little silver doohickey.  And don’t you just love that sentiment?  Sweet!  I hope you can find something fun, pretty and creative to do with these colors too!  Share your project with us over at the ColourQ blog and be sure to check out what the other designers did as well.  I am amazed each week at the different styles they come up with!  And as always, if you have any questions, shoot me an email!

Dana took these pictures of Cassidy trying to eat a dandelion puff:

Cassidy didn't like the dandelion-001No, she’s NOT laughing!!! LOL!  Good thing she had that water bottle to wash it down!

ColourQ132

DSCF0237

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  Another striking color combo from Arielle with a retro feel to it for today’s ColourQ challenge:

cqc132

I snagged the Fall to Layout #185 from Clean & Simple this week:

and got to stampin’!  Here you go:

CQC132-LeAnne

I just love how this turned out…..a PTI floral image colored with Copics, some retired SU DP and a sentiment from Curly Cute.  The fun border is made from 3/4” circles punched from Poppy Parade cardstock and adhered to the back of the DP (which I cut by tracing a saucer on the back!!!).  The finishing touch was that pretty SU brad in the center of the flower!

I hope you’ll find some time to stamp something with these fun & funky colors!  Be sure to boogie on over to the ColourQ blog to see what our other AMAZING designers have created.  I am continually inspired by them and by you!!!  Have fun!

Paper Players 77

DSCF0494

Welcome back to the Paper Players challenge!  We hope you are well-rested and ready to play!  This week, our hostess Lesley has a theme challenge—All You Need is Love!

You can make any type of creation that represents “love” to you!  I chose to make a get-well card for a dear sister in Christ who has been a little under the weather.   She has shown me so much friendship and encouragement since we met online!

PP77-LeAnne

The word “amour” is in the background, but it is probably difficult to see here!  But it was stamped with love, in colors that I love, and in a style that I love, and it will be sent with love!!!  And speaking of colors, I used the Pals Paper Arts colors this week of Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy and Very Vanilla, as well as the Fall to Layout from Clean & Simple:

FTL172

The background was created with several vintage images from Artistic Etchings, Fresh Vintage and Creative Elements, all stamped in Baja Breeze and NQN on watercolor paper.  Some crochet trim and Nesties added visual details as well as my little rhinestone!

 DSCF0502

The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes, and I repositioned the words using my Stamp-a-ma-Jig so that it would fit in the small oval punch.

DSCF0503

This card is already winging its way across the miles and I hope my friend enjoys it!  And I hope you will play along with our love-themed challenge this week!  Wing on over to the Paper Players blog to find out all the details.  We have changed things a tiny bit---the deadline for submissions is now Friday at noon!  Be sure to play!

These pictures of Cassidy with my little garden angel remind me of the passage in Genesis where Jacob wrestles with an angel!!!!

FTL170 & TSTR92 & Live Nativity

DSCF0059

Happy Monday!  I made a quick little card this morning with lots of sparkle!  It’s for the Shabby Tea Room Challenge #92:

STR92

and used the Fall To Layout#170 from Clean & Simple:

FTL170

And here it is:

I am not sure that an image this detailed works so well with Heat & Stick powder and glitter…but I added it to my stash, so in the mail it will go!  Here’s the inside:

We had our Live Nativity this weekend at my church; it’s in a rural setting and we still have carriage sheds that were originally used when congregants drove their horse & buggies to church!  It makes for a perfect Live Nativity background:

And it ends at the cross and the empty tomb:

I only got out for a few minutes on Friday night; the other times I was inside serving up lots & lots & lots of hot chocolate and cookies to the over 1000 visitors!  It was cold, clear & beautiful---a wonderful reminder of the true meaning of the season, away from the commercialism with which we are inundated daily.

Thanks for visiting—if you have any questions, please email me!
