Funky Little Yuletide Greetings

Happy Thursday, peeps!  I have a fun, funky little Christmas card today....I had an idea, but it sort of morphed into something else! Anyway, it uses an unusual color palette from 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, and the sketch from Retro Rubber, as well as the inspiration photo from Inspired By!  Phew!

So here we go:

This card began as note-card sized, but got trimmed down a bit as it was a little bottom-heavy!  My tree stamp is from Stamplorations and has to be at least ten years old!  I stamped it in Versafine Black ink on a piece of Kraft paper, then added some really old washi tapes and a couple of sticker greetings from Tim Holtz:

I diecut some white stars to embellish it, then mounted it on a white card.  Simple and easy!  Thanks so much for stopping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

FMS 569 Jingle All the Way

Happy Saturday, peeps!  Off to another basketball game to watch Cassidy!  I do have a little Christmas card to share; this turned out totally different than what I envisioned when I began!  Does that ever happen to you?  Anyway, it uses the FMS sketch as well as the Jingle Belles theme of bells!

And here we go:

I began with a Basic White card base and some retired Classic Christmas DSP, stamping my sentiment from Stamplorations in Evening Evergreen.  The bell was stamped in Silver Encore ink on Champage foil cardstock, and heat-embossed with silver embossing powder.  I didn't notice until I photographed it that part of the embossed area on the bell is missing!  Drat!

I had stamped some greenery to tuck under the bell but didn't like how it looked, so I opted for some silver Metallic ribbon and that looked better.  The "all the way" is from the retired Jingle Jingle Jingle, and it was also heat-embossed in silver; I wanted the strip to be a little narrower, so I cut out the "y"and adhered it on that way!

I used a cute sentiment from Snowman Magic for the inside!

Thanks so much for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

HSS404 Silent Night

Happy wet, soggy, rainy, icy Thursday, peeps!  I know some areas of the US are being bombarded by snow, so I am not complaining!  Our church small group is having our Christmas party tonight at our home, so I am glad the temps are just a wee bit above freezing!

I am still making Christmas cards!  The sketch from Hand Stamped Sentiments sort of fit the bill for the card I wanted to make for my friend from church; I subsituted a rectangle for a circle, so I hope that's okay!  First, here's the sketch:

And here's the card:

My Stamplorations stamp was inked up in Night of Navy, and I used Night of Navy DSP for the background, adding a strip of Silver glimmer paper as well as some glimmer paper stars, just to jazz it up a little.  Some thin blue baker's twine went across the bottom of the image:

Sentiments from Simon Says Stamp's Christmas Blessings went on the inside, along with another star:

I am also squeaking this in to the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, where they're looking for blue and white!

My great-nephews have a tradition of making cookies with their grandmother; I just love the looks on their faces:

I make spritz too, but I never though to extrude them in long strips, then cut them apart!  Ingenious!  I'll have to try that next year!  Here they are with mom too:

Some yummy treats for sure! Thanks for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.  But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid.  I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.  Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.  This will be a sign to you:  You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and laying in a manger." Krafty Chicks 537 Silent Night

Hi stampers!  It's Thursday, which brings a new challenge at the Krafty Chicks, where I am guest designer this month!

The theme this week, chosen by Nance, is Christmas!  Well, I certainly have a lot of Christmas stamps, so I pulled out this one from Stamplorations and stamped it in some retired Lost Lagoon ink to match this pretty star-studded DSP:

I added a Crumb Cake panel, also stamped with some starry swirls:

some Champagne foil punched stars, accented with some tiny star sequins:

and some silvery twine and cord:

It all went on a Sahara Sand base and is ready to go out in the mail!

I hope you'll play along with our challenge this week....maybe you're already done your cards, but there's nothing wrong with getting ahead for 2021, right?!  Check out all the DT samples at the Krafty Chicks!   Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Autumn Spice

Hi stampers!  I had a nice day yesterday--made some spaghetti sauce with our late tomatoes,  sat on the patio and read a book and got in a little stamping!  I saw this card and fell in love with the stamp (which is sold out right now), so I purchased the digital version!  So here we go:

I printed these out on some Crumb Cake cardstock; this one I colored in with some Blends and mounted it on a Crumb Cake card stamped with the Buffalo Check stamp:

I did some paper piecing on this one...not so crazy about this one, but it was fun to print the image out on some various DSPs and cut and piece them together!  I mounted it on a Mellow Moss card and added some older SU paper and ribbon:

I left them both without sentiments inside and out; I'll add a birthday or thinking of you when I need it!

'Tis the season......I've been seeing praying mantises around a lot lately....this one was climbing up our porch railing:

John and I were leaving to run a couple of errands.  We were gone for less than two hours, and when we came home, I looked to see if it was still there....I guess I should say if SHE was still there....this is what we found:

An egg sack!  I was so disappointed, as I would have loved to have seen her making it!  But we can watch it until it hatches....and hopefully it will make it through the winter!  Sadly, she will die a couple of weeks after laying this, the cycles of nature!  Thanks for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

FF0056 Vintage Hello

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  I have a very simple card today, although it took me long enough to make, LOL!  It's for the Festive Friday Library Worker challenge, as well as the Addicted to Stamps and More CAS challenge:

I chose pencils, yellow and ribbon for my CAS card:

I have had this line of pencils stamp for a long time; I got it at a stamp show, but it was unmounted, and I can't remember the name of the company!  I stamped it in Stazon and colored it with a Crushed Curry marker, then diecut it with the largest Stitched Rectangle die:

The typewriter and "hello" are from a Stamplorations set called Vignette:  Old Type.  The tag is a Simon Says Stamp diecut (Bundle of Stitched Shapes), and I used some gold satin ribbon from SU!

It was all mounted on a Crushed Curry card base.  I didn't add a sentiment on the inside yet; I'll do that when I figure out what occasion for which it will be used!  Thanks for popping in today!

My birds have been busy at my feeders; these are not the best pictures, but I'll keep working on them!

A male downy woodpecker; I had moved this feeder to another spot, and he was quite upset, so I had to move it back, LOL!

A brown thrasher, hiding under my forsythia; he has yellow eyes, and is quite active shoving aside leaves and sticks to get to the bugs underneath!

The feathers of the goldfinches are brightening up:

A this little chickadee is hard to catch...they fly away quickly!

And this pair of house finches (or purple finches, I can never tell the difference), loves to sit on the tray feeder!

I also have a pair of bluebirds building their nest in our bird box...I keep trying to get a picture of them, but they're skittish too!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Silent Night Duo

Happy Monday, peeps!  A quick post today...my allergies really have me in a funk, and my stamping mojo has washed away with all the rain we're having!  Prayers going out to all those affected by the storms going on, too!

The Stamplorations blog has a CAS anything goes challenge with an option of using Christmas colors:

I chose to use their Silent Night stamp from the Typografia line, and I made two cards with it:

The first one is stamped in Bordering Blue ink (ret) on some Feels Like Frost DSP:

I added some Gold Metallic pearls and some gold satin ribbon; the second one is a little more stepped-up:

I stamped and heat-embossed the sentiment on some Mad 4 Plaid paper by Photoplay, then framed it with a Garden Green stitched frame, and finally, added some little red epoxy dots:

Both cards are on a Crumb Cake base!  That's it for today---stay warm and dry and safe!  Thanks for popping in and be blessed!

IB60 Sending Letters

Happy Thursday, peeps!  It's time for another Inspired By challenge...boy, the week flies by, doesn't it?  Anyway, after checking out Laurel's inspiration photo, I was inspired to do a vintage/eclectic card...I haven't done one of them for a while!  So here we go:

And here is the prompt:

No photo description available.

I searched for some papers that I knew had lots of little letters on it like this...but of course, I couldn't find it!  So I went instead for some papers by Photo Play and My Mind's Eye, stamped some vintage images from various sets and embellished it with a shabby seam-binding bow.  (You can see directions on how to create shabby seam-binding HERE).

And I think my favorite stamped image is this row of vintage pencils:

Do you still write letters?  I have to admit, I send out lots of cards but don't write letters much any more!  It is definitely a dying art!  But I still love pens, pencils and paper!  I hope this will inspire you to create something for our Inspired By challenge this week...can't wait to see it!

Sledding in the snow one week, riding bikes the next...Pennsylvania weather is CRAZY!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
