AHSC494 Basket of Wishes

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  The Atlantic Hearts Sketch is a fun one this week!  Check it out:

I needed a special birthday card but I felt like pulling out some retired fall goodies...I have so many fall sets, I just can't part with them!  So here we go:

The retired set Basket of Wishes has a wonderful array of fall images in the line-drawing style that I love to watercolor!  I stamped them in Versafine ink on watercolor paper and colored them with inks and an aquapainter:

I added a few leaves from the retired Beautiful Autumn set and punched them out with the matching punches.  I placed one on top of the banners that were cut from retired DSP.  The background DSP is also retired.....some of it is really old, LOL!

I added a sentiment banner as well as a sentiment on the inside, all from the same set, stamped in Cajun Craze!

I am also going to enter this with my friends at Retro Rubber, since their challenge this week is "Anything Goes", and my stamps are at least two or three years old!

Thanks for popping in today!

I didn't get any pictures of Cassidy decorating her pumpkin at the Harvest Party, but my minister's wife snagged this one of her youngest:

She's quite an accomplished photographer, but it doesn't hurt that her son is so stinkin' cute!  As is his pumpkin!!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

RRCB170 Fall Flowers

Hi there!  Time for a new Retro Rubber challenge, where we give our older stamps some love!  Here's the photo prompt Jane has for us today....lots of possibilities on this one:

Since I just made a couple of pumpkin cards, I thought I'd concentrate on that bucket of flowers; I pulled out Basket of Wishes (2016) and Buffalo Check (2018) to make a sweet country-themed birthday card:

I stamped the basket on some Very Vanilla cardstock (which I should have known better to do, as my image warped a lot!) and stamped the design twice behind it, making it a wee bit higher because I wanted to stamp a third image and place it in front to give it some dimension.  All the flowers were colored with inks and an aquapainter. I fussy-cut the third image and popped it up to make the basket look nice and full:

I stamped a panel of Very Vanilla with Buffalo Check in Old Olive, added a piece of Cinnamon Cider DSP and a panel of Old Olive, diecut with a Stitched Shapes square die, then cut in half to make it into a rectangle!  I stamped a sentiment for the front:

and another for the inside, and my card was finished!

I am also going to enter this at the Double D Challenge this week, as their theme is sunflowers, and the Shopping Our Stash challenge, which is flowers!!

I am sure you'll be able to find some inspiration from our prompt this week...just be sure that your stamps are at least a year old, and be sure to tell us their age!  Can't wait to see what you create!  Check out what the other team members did over at Retro Rubber!

Pumpkin decorating the easy way---stickers and markers--no mess!!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was with God in the beginning.  Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.  In him was life, and that life was the light of men.  The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood."  John 1:1-4

IB119 Spring Garden Basket

Hi peeps!  It's Thursday--the week is flying by--and time for another Inspired By challenge...look how sweet this is:

I went round and round with ideas in my head for this one....just couldn't make any of my huge stash of papers work, so I decided to stamp my own!  First, let's see what I came up with:

I mixed some old and new for my card today!  First, let's check out the sketch that I used, it's from Sunday Stamps:

I used the small single flower from the new Ornate Style and stamped it randomly on my top layer, using Rococo Rose ink, and coloring it with Blends.  I stamped the lower portion in Sahara Sand ink using the retired Diagonal Stripe background stamp.  The overall effect was a little brighter than I wanted, to I layered a panel of vellum over it after I adhered them to a Soft Seafoam base.  Here you can see the layers underneath:

Then I stamped the bunch of florals from the same set in Soft Suede and again colored them with Blends.  I needed a basket, and I checked out the basket from the retired Basket of Wishes set; look how perfectly those flowers fit into that basket!!!  I paper pieced it with a little scrap of tan DSP, then fussy-cut the flowers and popped them up on top.  I added a couple Rococo Rose stitched and scalloped mats, and added some Ornate Garden ribbon underneath, right on top of the vellum:

Before I adhered everything, I stamped a sentiment at the bottom of the vellum:

I was happy to add this to my stash of birthday cards for this month!  And I keep forgetting that Danni now has sketches to use with our challenges....so be sure to check out the blog BEFORE you create your card!  Maybe next week I can get my act together and use both, LOL!  Anyway, I hope you'll play with us...feel free to use either element of the challenge, or both!  Check them out at the Inspired By blog!  Thanks for popping in today!

I was thrilled that the tulips I planted last fall actually bloomed, as I don't usually have good luck with them:

Just ignore the weeds, LOL!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

March Club Projects

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  I am really draggin' today...of course, the gray skies and snow flurries I see out my window might have something to do with that...and the prediction of another nor'easter on its way tomorrow.  That will be #4 for March 2018!!!  And it's the first day of spring!  Anyway, I wanted to share the projects my club participants did this month; I really enjoyed designing them and my stampers seemed to love them too!

Since once of the SAB promotion items is this lovely Springtime Foil DSP, I thought doing an ombre effect with SU's brayers would be fun:

We brayered layers of Blushing Bride, Flirty Flamingo and Calypso Coral on a pane, then added a flower from Flower Shop and punched out with the Pansy Punch, colored with a SU Blend.  The sentiment is from Basket of Wishes, punched with the Tailored Tag punch, and finally, we added a border diecut with the Flourish Thinlet; to make it easier to adhere, it was backed with some Adhesive Sheet, so all we had to do was peel and stick!  And here are a couple of other samples I showed them using the same technique:

For the second set of projects, I went "old school", using the One-Sheet Wonder technique that I learned a long time ago when I first became a demonstrator!  Basically, you stamp a whole sheet of cardstock (in our case, just a half-sheet) randomly to create your own designer paper.  Then we cut it into smaller pieces and made two full-size cards and one note card with our stamped panel:

The set Blooms and Wishes is perfect for this type of project; we used Pool Party, Sweet Sugarplum, So Saffron, Peekaboo Peach, Wisteria Wonder and Soft Sky for a springy palette; the sentiments from the same set (and an additional one from Beautiful Bouquet) were stamped in Basic Gray and all diecut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits:

You can't see it here, but some of the flowers were embellished with a Wink of Stella pen too!  Finally, they learned how to tie a "One-Hole Bow", which is great for keeping your ribbon from slipping off your card.  I did a tutorial for it and you can see it HERE!  And since there is no DSP on these cards, I am entering these in the No Patterned Paper challenge from Cards in Envy!

Ialso made a little gift for my hostess using the Wood Crate Box and the Seasonal Layers Thinlets; my friend Wendy made some really cute Easter-themed ones (you can see them here), but I didn't have any bunnies or chicks or eggs that were current, so I made a spring one with cherry blossoms and a sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes:

Phew, are you tired of all the photos?!  Thanks for hanging in there with me!

About fifty family members and friends from church went bowling on Saturday; it's really tough for wee ones to get that ball down the lane without going in the gutter (I struggle with it too!):

Mommy helped with the ball guide, and a few times we put up the bumpers too:

But that scoring is really the hard part...checking out to see how she did:

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

A Little Basket of Strawberries

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  This is a crazy busy week, so this will be short and sweet!  No challenges, I was just looking for something I could create that would put my new Blends to work, and I realized I had never inked up the little strawberry image from Basket of Wishes!  So here is my simple card:

I used Memento ink on Shimmery White cardstock and colored it in with Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Crumb Cake and Bronze Blends; I used the Color Lifter pen to take out a tiny little bit of ink from each strawberry for a highlight:

For my background, I inked up the Hardwood stamp with White Craft ink and stamped it on a mat of Wild Wasabi, then stamped the sentiment in Wild Wasabi as well.  After die-cutting, I added a Crumb Cake ribbon and mounted it on a Early Espresso base!  The sentiment on the inside (forgot to photo it!) says "Sending a basket full of wonderful wishes for your birthday"!  Isn't that a sweet sentiment!  I love it!

No pix of Cassidy today but I thought I would share a little note she wrote to herself so she could remember the names she chose for her little playhouse dogs:

We have "Frito" - Big D (dalmatian), Spot - Small D Sitting, Chedoe (Cheeto) - Small D Standing; then Brownie - Big G (golden retriever), Goldy - Small G Standing, and Doritoe (Dorito) - Small G Sitting.  Too funny!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

MTS199 Pastor Appreciation

Hi everyone!  Happy Monday, and I hope you had a good weekend!  It was a good one at our household!  The "I Do" barbecue wedding was fun, although it was cold in the tent for the reception,  but it was even colder outside!  Brrr!  Once the sun goes down, the chill is on!  But it was a lovely event!

Today's card is for our pastor and his wife; he is our interim pastor, as we look for a full-time pastor, and he and his wife have been a tremendous blessing and encouragement to us during this time!  I can't remember when I last used Basket of Wishes, but I thought it would be a timely image to use for their card:

I used the Match the Sketch sketch for this week:

I am also linking this to the Inkspirational Challenge, which is this pretty autumn photo:

I stamped the image in Basic Black ink on watercolor paper, then colored them in with inks and an aquapainter:

I added a couple strips of miscellaneous papers for the horizontal pieces, and added a sentiment from Beautiful Bouquet.  On the inside, I added a sentiment from the Basket of Wishes set, and added some wheat from an older retired set called Autumn Days:

I am really enjoying "visiting" my older stamps and giving them some love!  Thanks so much for visiting me today!

Cassidy can entertain herself with just about anything!  Here, she made use of John's homemade creeper (for sliding under cars), propelling herself down the little incline out of the garage:

Of course, she has no way to steer it, so she is at the mercy of the driveway...she almost ran into the gas grill, LOL!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Mojo Monday 478 Birthday

Hi peeps!  Since yesterday was the last day to order from the Holiday catalog, I thought I would use Basket of Wishes one more time for a birthday card, using the Mojo Monday sketch:

I am trying to use some of the In Colors a little more, so I chose Sweet Sugarplum and Delightful Dijon for the flowers, Mint Macaron for the leaves and Tip Top Taupe for the basket:

I watercolored the image after stamping it on thick white cardstock with Basic Black ink and diecutting it with a Stitched Shapes die:

I stamped my own background using images from Jar of Love, Butterfly Basics and Touches of Texture, added a border of Delightful Dijon dsp and some white twine, then used another Stitched Shapes die for the sentiment inside:

Thanks for visiting today!

I ordered a puzzle for Cassidy for Christmas featuring pictures of her and Mommy!  She enjoyed putting it together at Aunt Mimi's house while the adults chatted:

Have a blessed day!
