RRCB202 Anything Goes Lucky Day

Happy Tuesday, peeps! I was thrilled to be asked to be a guest designer at Retro Rubber recently! It will be fun to create with my old teammates!  And anyone who knows me, knows I love my "retro" stamps!  This week the theme is Anything Goes!  Yippee!!

Since we're so close to St Patrick's Day, I thought I would pull out my trusty Gift Givers stamp set from 2011 and ink up this little leprechaun!  Here we go:

I stamped him in Memento ink and colored him in with Blends, then diecut him out, along with Garden Green and Gold Glimmer paper circular mats:

I adhered a piece of Garden Green DSP to a Basic White card front, folded back the bottom corner, then popped my little lucky guy on top.  To fill in the white space, I added a little shamrock I created with a heart die and added a gold dot!  For the inside, I added a sentiment from Suite Sentiments (2017):

Loads of fun! I hope you'll play along with the Retro Rubber challenge this week...you just need to use stamps at least a year old, and tell us their age!  See you there!

Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

RRCB189

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  Time for a new Retro Rubber challenge, where we use our older stamps, and it's a fun one:

I was a little stumped on this one, but ended up pulling out my retired Stitched Triangle dies and cutting out some triangles from a few of the challenge colors!  So here we go:

I used Crumb Cake, Soft Sky, Rococo Rose, Misty Moonlight and Smoky Slate, then mounted them all on a panel of Basic White embossing with the retired Coastal Weave embossing folder!  The outside sentiment is from Suite Sentiments, diecut with an Ornate Frame die and embellished with some Pierced Blooms flowers and a wee little rhinestone!  The inside features stamps from Perfectly Wrapped, all stamped in colors of the triangles on the front:

I hope you'll find some inspiration from our photo---will it be colors?  Shapes?  Images?  Can't wait to see what you create!  Share it with us at Retro Rubber so we all can see it!

My great-nieces Emma and Lucy came over last week and to keep them busy, I got out some small stamps and spots along with some scrap paper and they had a lot of fun....for at least fifteen minutes, anyway!  Cassidy chose to eat!

Their techniques were pretty good! Start them early, right?!  Thanks for visiting today---enjoy it and be blessed!

RRCB148 Birthday Celebration

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  Time for a new Retro Rubber Challenge where we give our "retro" stamps (at least a year old) some love!  This challenge fit perfectly into my calendar:

because yesterday was John's birthday!  So here we go:

Not as colorful and festive as the photo prompt, but if you knew John, "colorful" would not be an adjective you would use to describe him!!!  Instead, I used some "manly" elements...silver embossing, silver brads and silver tools!!!  My sentiment is from Suite Sentiments (2017), stamped in Stazon Black on Very Vanilla and diecut with a Stitched Shapes square die and layered with some Silver foil:

The dies are ones I got several years ago from My Favorite Things:

And the inside sentiment is from a set I got eons ago when Cornish Heritage Farm was still around!

The sketch is from Try Stampin' On Tuesday:

So I hope you'll play along with our birthday challenge this week...if you're like me, you always need birthday cards, especially masculine ones!  Just be sure to use stamps that are at least a year old, and tell us how old they are!  Can't wait to see what you create...share it over at the Retro Rubber blog!  See you there!

RRCB124 Tic Tac Toe

Hey everyone!  It's time for another Retro Rubber Challenge...this week it's tic-tac-toe time!  Check out the grid:

No photo description available.

I chose to use the top row of metallics, mode of transport and patterned paper!  Now, the mode of transport is a bit tongue-in-cheek....but I thought a tricycle would be a fun image on a card for a little boy who never grew up!  So here we go:

My tricycle image, along with the sentiments next to it are from an Artistic Outpost set called Playtime (not sure of the date...maybe 2010?), and it was stamped in Night of Navy on some Authentique denim-look paper:

I also used images from Gorgeous Grunge (2013) to give it a bit more "vintage" look, and the sentiment is from Suite Sentiments (2017); I love how it goes along with the playful theme:

I added some metal embellishments as well, and then the inside features the old faithful, Guy Greetings (2015):

The sketch I used is the CAS(E) This Sketch, but I am afraid it's a bit too busy to be considered clean and simple, but here it is anyway:

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Lots of Grad Cards

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  We had five local students from our church graduate from high school and college this year, so I set about to make some simple graduation cards!!  I tried to customize them to their school colors, but kept most of the designs similar!  The first one was maroon and white...in this case, the new Merry Merlot and Whisper White!  I used the Large Numbers die, a tiny little graduation cap from a 2015 SU graduation set, and a sentiment from the new Itty Bitty Greetings, embossed in white:

The inside sentiment, used on all the cards, was from two sets:  the "congrats" is from the retired  Suite Sentiments, the "Let Your Light Shine" is from Close to My Heart:

I had two from my very own alma mater, Avon Grove HS, and our school colors are maroon and gold!  I used some retired Hello Honey cardstock and DSP and the same elements for their cards:

And one had gold and navy as his school colors, so he got the striped Hello Honey paper and Night of Navy numbers:

And since this is for a young man, I am entering it in Cards in Envy's "Let's Hear it for the Boys" challenge!

Finally, I did a total one-eighty with this fun card for a college grad.  I found some fun papers in a  American Crafts' Little by Little 6x6 pad,  and so I could use the whole width of the DSP,  I made hers into a 6" x 3 3/4" card and added a few more elements

The same CTMH set (Inspired Words Day-to-Day) has several little Christian messages, so I added a few here and there, as well as an embossed "celebrate"!   Easy and FUN!!  I love those little pictures!!

Since Cassidy's birthday is in the summer, her class is celebrating all the summer birthdays today!  She spent yesterday afternoon making up treat bags for her classmates!

Thanks for popping by for a visit today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

JUGS433, SOS346 and IM343 Hello Spring

Happy Monday peeps!  It's the start of Cassidy's Easter break, so I may be MIA occasionally this week!  I did get some stamping time in over the weekend and I am submitting my simple spring/Easter card to the following challenges:

In{k}spire Me - Easter, and Just Us Girls - Photo Challenge:

as well as the Shopping Our Stash challenge of Easter as well!  So here we go:

This card combines old and new!  The DSP is from Whole Lot of Lovely, and the stamp is old, old, old....I am not sure if my friend Teri gave this to me, or I found it at a yardsale!  Anyway, it was one of the stamps that was mounted on a very thick piece of foam rubber...inexpensive, but not really comfortable to stamp with!  I took the rubber off and re-mounted it on cling-mount foam, and it's much easier to stamp with!  Anyway, the set has four stamps...the tulips, the bunny, a basket of eggs and the sentiment.  I made a mask of the bunny with a post-it note, and stamped the tulips on either side behind the bunny, then loosely colored them, and the bunny, with inks and an aquapainter:

This style of line art was what drew me to SU many years ago; I didn't get this stamp when it first came out and always regretted it, so I was happy to add it to my collection!  I finished my image by diecutting it with a stitched oval die, adding a Basic Black scallop mat and adding the sentiment directly on the DSP:

Finally, I added a pretty sentiment from Suite Sentiments (ret), and if you look very closely, you can see that I stamped the basket over the sentiment in Powder Pink:

Now to get this one, and all my others, out in the mail this week!  Thanks for popping by--enjoy your day and be blessed!

Not sure who owns whom!

PP351 The Adventure Begins

Happy Sunday, peeps!  It's time for another Paper Players challenge, and Joanne is our hostess this week with this theme:

I used a mix of old and new products for my card today, and used the Freshly Made Sketches sketch by Amy:

The stamp is from 2015's Occasion catalog, called Adventure Awaits; I paired it with some fun paper from the current Birthday Memories DSP to get this:

Since the stamp is photopolymer, I had cut apart the two portions of the sentiment, which made it really easy to stamp it in two colors!  I chose Pacific Point and Pumpkin Pie, pulling colors from the dots in the paper.  I used a sentiment from the retired Silhouettes and Script for my small side panels, stamping the words in Pumpkin Pie and Lemon Lime Twist:

A couple of little matching banners and punched stars finished the outside:

For the inside, I used a sentiment from Suite Sentiments and diecut it with the banner from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlets; I also cut a strip of stars with another die from the same set and used both the negative and positive parts for some fun!

Most of us in the US have already had our graduations, but Joanne has given us several choices for the challenge, so feel free to be flexible!  Can't wait to see what you create!  And you can check out what the DT did right here:

We had lots of comments about the sweet little kittens at the farm, and no, I didn't cave in and get one, but my friend Sharon brought over a little kitty she rescued from her vet.

She knew Cassidy would enjoy it, and after a few tears shed due to little kitty claws scratching soft skin, Cassidy solved the problem (on her own, I might add), but putting on a sweatshirt so that the claws didn't dig in!

Another kitty fix!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Fun Z-Fold Card

Happy Friday, everyone!  I saw a very cute card with a fun z-fold made by my friend Mary Alice! You can see it here.  I simplified it a little for an upcoming class, and also made one for my SIL whose birthday is today!  I pulled out some retired Domestic Goddess DSP along with the Perfect Mix and Suite Sentiment sets:

I stamped the images on thick white cardstock and watercolored them with Pool Party and Watermelon Wonder inks...I just love those colors together! I added a little enamel heart from a past Paper Pumpkin kit; although the colors don't quite match, I think it will do!  I did a little paper piecing for the oven mitt on the inside as well:

Since my SIL is one of the best cooks I know, I thought this would be right up her alley!  Thanks for popping in today!

It was FINALLY nice enough for two of my "children" to run around and play in the yard Wednesday evening, LOL!

Enjoy your weekend and be blessed!
