LIM480 Big Hooray

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  I have a fun "retro" card today using a couple of older retired sets; it uses the sketch from Sunday Stamps as well as the color theme of black and aqua from Less is More:

Now I admit that these colors are a bit unusual for a western-themed card, but I had a scrap of Coastal Cabana DSP on my desk and I was determined to use it, LOL!  So here we go:

The western images are from a set called Out West; the sentiment is from Perfectly Wrapped.  I added a star from YeeHaw:

which is also where I got the sentiment on the inside, except for the "have a"....that's from Endless Birthday Wishes.  Endless Birthday Wishes is one of the very first photopolymer set that SU came out with...and I still have it!

I've been on a roll, making masculine cards, so this will go in my pile for one of my April birthdays!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

RRCB137 Hooray

Happy Tuesday, peeps! It's time for a new Retro Rubber challenge, and this week we are pairing with the Double Trouble challenge as well!
Our challenge is a sketch challenge so all you have to do for Retro Rubber is to make a card using our sketch and at least one stamp older than a year.
The Double Trouble challenge requirements are:
  • Thing 1 – Trouble Maker: 3-2-1 Recipe: 3 colors – 2 embellishments – 1 old stamp
  • Thing 3 – Twisted Sister: Follow our RRCB sketch with at least one angular shape.
  • Thing 2 – Double Dare (Optional): If you used the RRCB sketch and the 3-2-1 Recipe be sure to link your card Double Trouble’s challenge to receive an additional chance to be in Double Trouble’s random draw.

So here is our sketch:

And here's my card:

You can't really see it, but the base is Seaside Spray; my main images are from a 2010 stamp set called Out West, and the sentiment and barbed wire are from a 2015 set called Yee Haw.  I used some papers from Authentique and Carta Bella; my 3-2-1 recipe is three colors:  mustard, blue and red;

my two embellishments are the hat and the star brad, and my one is the old stamp!

On the inside, I stamped the boot from Out West, and cheated a little because I used a new sentiment stamp from A Grand Kid because I liked the font:

I hope you'll play along with us at Retro Rubber this week, and do the Double Trouble challenge if you want too!  Remember, you must give us the approximate age of the stamps you're using and they have to be at least a year old!  Can't wait to see what you create!

Retro Rubber Challenge 105 Wish Big

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  I hope you had a nice weekend....Monday sort of got away from me, but it's okay and I am back with our latest Retro Rubber sketch challenge!  Check it out:

No photo description available.

Yep, we are pairing with Try Stamping on Tuesday this week!  How fun is that?!  Be sure to check out what those talented stampers on their design team created!  They've used some of their well-loved "oldie" stamps too!

I am not quite sure why, but my last two RR challenge submissions have been cowboy-themed!!  What's up with that?!  I do like these types of cards for guys, so I guess that's my reasoning!  This card uses a set from 2010 called Out West...I am so glad I kept it!  Here we go:

I stamped my cowboy in Early Espresso ink on some burlap-printed paper from Authentique, diecut him with a stitched die and added a Poppy Parade scalloped mat; the sentiment from A Dozen Thoughts (2013) was stamped the same way:

I added three banners and adorned them with some enamel dots:

And on the inside of the Naturals White card, I stamped a birthday sentiment from a past Paper Pumpkin set as well as some of the other elements from the Out West set:

Yee haw!  I had a lot of fun making this card and it's already out in the mail for its intended recipient!!  I hope you'll play along with our sketch this week...I just love sketches, don't you?  Be sure to use stamps that are at least one year old and tell us how old they are too!  Can't wait to see what you share at the RetroRubber blog!

I haven't shared a picture of Eden lately...here she is, just chillin' with her favorite pillow!  She's obviously on trend, it has SUCCULENTS on it, LOL!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

SRC120 & TKT60

DSCF0355
One of my husband’s customers gave him a unique book/cookbook that he wrote himself after a trip out west.  It follows the travels of two fox statues, frieda and Freddie (that’s how he spells them!) and he dresses them up in western wear  and poses them and takes photos of them along the way.  The recipes are for meals like “Fart and Dart Beans” (I am not making this up!), Buffalo Jerky and Boy in a Bag (which is like plum pudding).  The foxes meet characters like Clara the Chipmunk and Clyde the Coyote; highlights include museums, monuments and famous places like the Hole in the Wall Cabin where Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid frequented, the Buffalo Bill Museum, and Bullwinkle’s Saloon.  I haven’t had a chance to read it all the way through, but what I’ve read so far is pretty funny!  All this to say, I used the Stamping Royalty sketch #120 from this week to make him a thank you card!  Here’s the sketch:
and here is my card:

This uses three sets that will be retiring May 31:  Trendy Trees (sentiment); Out West, and Medallion.  The DP is Well Worn, and I used the Square Lattice EF for my horizontal panel.  Any questions, shoot me an email!  Oops, I forgot, this is also for The Spotted Chick's "That's Krafty Thursday", too!

PP42 Color Challenge

DSCF0451

Happy Sunday to everyone!  Warmer weather is on the way and that makes me happy!  Today’s Ann’s color challenge for the Paper Players makes me happy, too:

April 10 Colour Challenge

Woohoo, I love it!  I used the Skipping Stones sketch 71:

And here’s my card:

DSCF0450

This color combo is fresh & and bold—even though Poppy Parade is not one of my “go-to” colors!!  I realized I had been neglecting my wheels, so I used Friendly Words to make my banner, and an image from Dreams duJour for my focal point.  They are both stamped on Textured WW cardstock, as is my card base, and the main image is  watercolored with an aquapainter and ink:

DSCF0452

I just love that canvasy look the textured cardstock gives!  This is just such a happy card!  I have to admit, I was feeling smug because I actually started my card on Thursday evening and had it all finished, when I realized that I had used the wrong neutral---ACK!!!  Would you like to see the first version?  Here IT is:

DSCF0441

I had this idea in my head for days----but I used Ivory cardstock for my main image.  It’s okay---I need a congrats card for a special couple who tied the knot in a Western ceremony---so it will still get used!  But I had to regroup and quickly make another card---any excuse to stamp more, right?  And I used the Fall to Layout 135  for this card:

FTL135

I sure hope you can find some time to play with these wonderful colors Ann has chosen.  Make sure you gallop on over to the Paper Players to find out all the details and share your creation with us too!
