TCC170 Sail Away With Me Valentine

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  Time for a fun new Card Concept challenge, where we use different concepts to create our cards!  Here's the fun prompt that Julie has for us today:

I know that Valentine's has passed, but I used the colors and theme from the prompt to create a Clean and Layered Valentine for my hubby, since he loves sailboats:

I had a lot of scraps left from my package of Hey Sports Fan DSP, so I put some of them together along with some stamped and colored images from Clearly Whimsy's Ocean Journey.  To make the sentiment from the matching set stand out a bit more, I used my Stamparatus to stamp it twice, once in Night of Navy, then again in Versamark, and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder:

I stamped another sentiment on the inside and added some little Poppy Parade stamped hearts:

He loved it too!  And I hope you'll love our inspiration photo and come play along with us!  Just check out what the "concepts" are at the Card Concept blog and be sure to tell us what your concept is!  See you there!  Thanks for visiting today--enjoy your day and be blessed!

TCC156 Sail Away With Me

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  Time for a new Card Concept challenge, where we feature our different styles of cardmaking!  Here's the fun prompt that Julie has for us today:

Just in time for Memorial Day or the 4th of July!!  I love those nautical images too!  That's what inspired me for my Clean and Layered card today:

I loosely copied some of the pillows in the image; I used several embossing folders for the backgrounds, then added diecuts from Seaside Seashells and Smooth Sailing dies.  My colors were Basic White, Riding Hood Red, Misty Moonlight and Night of Navy:

On this one, I stamped the white strips with one of the stamps from the new set Stitchery; I love how it mimics the embossing in the rope!

I found a fun set of sailing sentiments from Clearly Whimsy in my stash and stamped one of them twice in Night of Navy and Cherry Cobbler inks, then did some fussy cutting, adding a Candy Dot for the "i"!

On the inside, I added a birthday sentiment from Wish Big along with a few stars from the sentiment set:

John's birthday is several months away, but I might just save this one for him!  I hope you'll play along with our challenge this week; be sure to tell us what your stamping "style" was when you created your masterpiece!  If you need help figuring out what your style is, you can find all the details on the Card Concept blog! See you there!

A little ice cream fun!

Thanks for popping in today...enjoy it and be blessed!

IB33 Sail On and a Giveaway!

Hi everyone!  Thursday is here...and time for another Inspired By challenge!  Laurel always has the nicest inspiration photos for her challenges!  Here's my take on today's:

And here's her prompt:

(I wish I had thought to sneak in a pretty little starfish like the one in the photo!)  I stamped my sentiment on a stitched tag and added a couple little enamel dots, and my anchor is from the retired Guy Greetings set; the DSP is some retired SU from many years back, and the embossing is the Cable Knit EF; I colored the anchor in with my blends:

It's hard to see, but I also added a piece of Corduroy ribbon in Night of Navy along the edges of the white panel.  I just love the effect it gives!  And here's the inside:

Both sentiments, outside and in, are from a set by Clearly Whimsy, called Ocean Journeys Sentiments.  I think this card would be great for a graduate, someone who is getting a new job or moving to a new home!  I don't have anyone that fits that bill right now, so if you would like to receive this card so YOU can send it to someone, just leave me a comment along with a valid email!  I'll pick a winner on Sunday, August 19 and if your name is chosen, it will be winging its way to you soon!

I hope you'll be inspired by our nautical theme this week....so get creative and share your masterpieces with us over at Inspired By!  Can't wait to see them!

Just a few shots from Cassidy's karate classes!  Here she is intently listening to Master Fisher:

Delivering a kick...maybe a round house?  I have no idea!

And sometimes, just for fun (and to learn teamwork, how to follow directions and good old-fashioned exercise), they play games....here, Cassidy is the "zombie dog" (you KNOW they love that), and they have to run around on all fours and tag others, who then also become zombie dogs!  It's pretty funny!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

CTD482 and CASCSC261 Birdie Thank You

Happy Saturdayday, everyone!  I have a quick little clean-and-simple card today using the gorgeous color palette from Color Throwdown and the fun little sketch from CAS Colours and Sketches:

I have been searching for a stamp set from Lawn Fawn (Peace Joy Love) and finally found another stamper selling it from her stash! YAY!  Technically it's a Christmas set, but I set out to make a thank you card using some of the images and this is what I came up with:

I recently got an adorable BoBunny Felicity Collection 6x6 pad, and it had this sweet little kraft and pink paper that was perfect for the challenge colors!  I stamped my birds in white craft ink on Crumb Cake cardstock, then heat-embossed them with some white embossing powder; the heart was stamped in Versamark, then Blushing Bride ink and embossed with clear embossing powder on Powder Pink cardstock.  All three were easy to fussy-cut and I plopped them on top of a little gray branch:

I used my Smoky Slate Blend to color a pearl for a  subtle wee bit more prettiness!

Finally, I stamped a sentiment from Clearly Whimsy:

I really wanted to add another layer but since it is a CAS challenge, I resisted!  Thanks for popping in today--enjoy your day and be blessed!

AYSI163 Sail On

Happy Friday, peeps!  Phew, the end of a busy but productive week!  It's time for another As You See It challenge!  Check out this sketch:

No automatic alt text available.

Yesterday was John's birthday, so I put the sketch to good use making his card with a couple of new-to-me stamp sets by Clearly Whimsy called Ocean Journey and Ocean Journey sentiments:

Since John used to have a sailboat, but doesn't any longer, he can look at this little boat longingly and dream of days when he used to be at the tiller!  I used Lemon Lime Twist, Marina Mist and Pacific Point for my colors; I was inspired by the gift wrap we used to wrap John's present:

Pretty bright!!  I used some retired DSPs for the background diecut and the paper-pieced hull, then colored in the mast and star with a marker.  I twisted some baker's twine and embroidery floss together to make the string:

The banners were various DSPs and stamped pieces and I added a little enamel star for embellishment:

The inside was stamped with anchors from the set as well as a sentiment from a past Paper Pumpkin kit:

Cassidy made her own card for Grampy; she used stickers to spell out "Happy John Day along with balloons that also spelled Happy Birthday (all her own idea):

And she liked my boat, so she decided to use the same image for the inside of her card, although hers is illustrated a little more than mine!!!  That girl LOVES my markers:

My favorite parts are the hand-drawn sea creatures at the bottom of the ocean, which she labeled just in case he couldn't figure out what they were:

I think I'll order "lopster" the next time we go out for seafood, LOL!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!
