PP703 CAS Challenge from Claire x Three

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Claire is our Paper Players hostess this week, and it's a Clean and Simple week! Here's her prompt:

What a fun challenge!  I confess that it took me THREE tries to get a card that I was happy with for this challenge; first, I don't really have that many fruit stamps (although when I thought harder about it, I did have a few!). Second, one of them wasn't clean-and-simple enough for me, and third, I just wasn't altogether happy with it!  But here's the one that I finally ended up with:

My fruit is a basket of grapes from an older SU set called Provencal; I heat embossed it in black ink and watercolored the image in with inks and an aquapainter.  The swirly image is from Timeless Textures and the sentiment is from Harvest Home, all of which are also retired.

I stamped another swirly image on the inside and added a stamp from Day of Thanks:

My first Thanksgiving card!

This next one was my original card, and I just didn't feel it was CAS enough. I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and the colors from Colour Inkspiration:

Same image....did some watercoloring, paper piecing (because my watercoloring bled like crazy), some embossing and some diecutting:

The little "celebrate" tag is from Our Daily Bread Designs.

The final one was certainly CAS enough but it just didn't have any "oomph" to me:

Basic Beige background with a wee bit of decorative diecutting and Berry Burst image and sentiment (Unity). I love this sentiment, so I am sure I'll be able to use it for something!

SO....what will you create with our fruity CAS challenge?  There are lots of gorgeous fruit-related stamps out in our stamping world, so dig yours out and share it with us at the Paper Players, where you can see all the DT's submissions as well!   We'll be celebrating Cassidy's 14th birthday today, so I'm gonna run!  Thanks for popping in today, enjoy it and be blessed!

Very Very Busy on the Farm

Happy Monday, everyone!  I have a very busy card for you today; I confess that I normally do not add so many layers on my cards (although I have been known to do that), but after seeing the pretty inspiration photo over at my friends' The Card Concept challenge, I decided to go whole hog...pun intended! Here's their inspiration:

Isn't that a fun wreath to hang on one's door?  Lots of country elements there.  I chose not to make a wreath, but I did use the Atlantic Hearts Sketch challenge sketch:

So hang onto your socks, here we go:

First, my concept is probably Shabby and Vintage. I remembered an older SU stamp called Provencal which had a rooster, so I stamped it in Stazon ink on Shimmery White cardstock, did a wee bit of watercoloring, then added lots and lots of Timeless Arrangement layers:

The barn and sentiment are from Papertrey's On the Farm; the background is an older My Favorite Things Distressed Background Blocks in a chicken wire pattern.  I finished it off with some gingham ribbon and a couple of enamel dots.  I originally had opted for a white background for the front but I ended up adding it to the inside, along with a couple more PTI stamps:

Thanks for visiting today!  The weather turned warmer, it's lovely, but it's also brought out the stink bugs, so the rest of the day I'll be swatting them away!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

For it is by God's grace that you have been saved through faith.  It is not the result of your own efforts, but God's gift, so that no one can boast about it.  Ephesians 2:8-9

TCC160 Thankful Sunflowers

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  It's time for a lovely new Card Concept challenge, where we tell our card-making style!  Here's the prompt for today, which happens to be the first day of fall:

I anticipated seeing a lot of big, bold sunflowers in our DT gallery, so I turned and went in another direction!  I still have this sweet little hostess set from 2005 called Provencal, and remembered this little bouquet of sunflower, so I stamped it in Stazon ink on a piece of Shimmery White cardstock and got out my inks and aquapainter:

It was quick and easy to color in!

I then added some plaid and woodgrain papers for my background, as well as some Daffodil Delight crinkled ribbon, a couple of green epoxy drops, and a sweet little sentiment from Sparkle of the Season:

It is always fun pulling out some of my older stamps and showing them some love!  I'd say this is my usual "clean and layered" style....I can't see to get away from it!  I hope you'll play along with us as well!  Be sure to check out what all the styles are on the Card Concept blog, and while you're there, check out what the DT has created for you to peruse!  Thanks for visiting today!
