Watercolor Poinsettia

DSCF9201-001

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  What a whirlwind week I have had….four stamping events within a week’s time!  But I had fun---two clubs and two camps—and now I can start stamping just for me!!  I had ten minutes before one club started, and I threw this together FAST….stamped the Joyful Christmas poinsettia image on watercolor paper, dabbled on the colors with ink and an aquapainter, stamped the speckle from Gorgeous Grunge, mounted it on a Very Vanilla card base,  and I was finished:

Here’s a closeup of my very loose coloring, LOL!

I did go back later on and add some glitter to the centers…I just thought they looked a wee bit bare!  Thanks for stopping by today!

RS72 & DD61 and Finally Some Sequins

DSCF6481-001

Happy Thursday everyone!  I wanted to play with two challenges before the week was out, and I managed to squeak in some stamping time yesterday!  The Dynamic Duos challenge was Pink Pirouette and Sahara Sand, and the RetroSketches sketch was by my sweet friend Lisa:

Rarely do I put 3D items on my cards, as they make it difficult to mail, but I threw caution to the wind and pulled out a flower from my Artisan Embellishments kit from the last mini, along with some other sweet goodies:

I sponged the white doily with Very Vanilla ink to match better, and grunged up the card base with some Gorgeous Grunge (love that name!) and stamped the sentiment from A Dozen Thoughts in Smoky Gray….it works great on the Sahara Sand …not too dark and not too light!  Here’s a closeup of the elements:

And finally……SEQUINS!!!  Tada!  I kept forgetting a had a little stash, and these worked perfectly for the colors:

So cute!  I loved making this, even though at first the sketch intimidated me!  Glad I persevered!

Howdy, peeps!  There was an interesting sketch by Linda Suarez yesterday on Freshly Made Sketches, and since I needed birthday cards for a nephew as well as a niece, I put that little sketch to work.  Here it is:

And here’s my nephew card using Soho Subway papers and a couple of new sets:

Remembering Your Birthday and Glorious Grunge made an appearance here, along with the little dater stamp from the Epic Day collection…(it’s his birthday date):

and when I saw how Justin at jkcards made these cool chevrons using the hexagon punch—you can see his here—I just had to make some too!  Of course, the inside sentiment finishes the thought from the outside sentiment, but I forgot to photograph that!

The niece one uses Birthday Basics DP….wow, I just love all these papers, they are fun and colorful…..and some of that new chevron ribbon that sort of gives that strange optical illusion effect:

I added some embossed hearts with my birthday banner….

and another cute birthday stamp from Remembering Your Birthday along with the rest of the embossed hearts!
