PP456 Poinsettia Tree

Hi peeps!  Time for another Paper Players challenge!  Laurie has a GREAT sketch for us this week...I even made two cards with it!  So here's the sketch:

And here's my card---a combination of new and old goodies!!!  I used a new set from the Holiday catalog called Shine Bright, and I stamped it in Mint Macaron ink, then used Light and Dark Mint Macaron Blends to color it in:

I used a gold Zig Painty pen to fill in the little berries, then added a Gold Foil scalloped mat, embellished it with a flower punched from the Triple Flower Punch and anchored with a gold brad.  For the lower panel, I used some Mint Macaron gingham DSP, stamping a partial sentiment (Christmas Pines) with the new Golden Glitz Delicata ink and mounted everything on a white card base that was embossed with the retired Petals A-Plenty embossing folder.

For my second card, I pulled out some printed papers gifted to me by my friend Teri, stamped a cute little pup from a CTMH set, colored it with some Blends and added sentiments from Happy Tails and Picture Perfect Birthday:

This went to my nephew....he might think it's a little juvenile, but he always likes my cards, hopefully he'll like this one too!

Thanks for popping in today---I hope you'll play along with Laurie's wonderful sketch and share your creation with us at the Paper Players blog!  While you're there, check out what the DT created as well!

We have had a bumper crop of green and purple beans this year....our garden just keeps producing them and we couldn't eat them all, so I decided to freeze some earlier this past week.  Cassidy was itching to play a new game she got, so she actually pitched in and helped so that I could finish up and we could play!!

She was a good helper, and we had a lot of fun playing Sleeping Queens....I highly recommend it!

I am going to be taking a little bloggy vacation, spending time with hubby, so I will see you next Sunday, when I am the hostess at the Players!  Enjoy your week and be blessed!

PP420 A Sketch from Sandy Times Two

Hello, stamping friends!  Hope your weekend is spiffy so far!  Sandy is our hostess for this week's Paper Players challenge, and she has a fabulous sketch!  Loved it so much, I made two cards!  So here we go:

I haven't used the Farmhouse Memories DSP too much this season, so I chose to do an almost-monochromatic card using Mossy Meadow with a touch of Crumb Cake for my first seasonal card:

Christmas Pines is one of the most versatile Christmas sets you could own...the sentiments are so pretty, as are the greenery pieces!  Here, I stamped the sentiment and added some Crumb Cake pinecones, then matted my square with a stitched mat and added some greenery and sequins.  I also separated a piece of thick baker's twine to make it less bulky and tied a little bow to embellish my pinecones:

The inside also has a Crumb Cake mat; sentiment is stamped in Crumb Cake and the greenery in Soft Sea Foam:

And I am also entering this in the Color Throwdown this week:

I also needed a birthday card for our soon-to-be-three-year-old nephew!  For my second card, I used a Balmy Blue card base, embossed with a geometrical EF, then added some plaid papers from Lawn Fawn and the loader from I Dig You:

I added some presents and a little "3" from the retired Little Numbers die in the bucket of the loader:

A Tim Holtz number and a sentiment from Perennial Birthday finished it off!

This sketch is great to use little pieces of DSP, and we all have them laying around!  Show us what you can create and share it with us at the Paper Players!  Can't wait to see it!  Meanwhile, check out what the DT created:

Twofer Wreath Challenge #11

Hi peeps! I am running very late today...I have my last stamp club of 2018 tonight so I spent the morning getting ready, and this colder weather has my allergies acting up!!  Anyone else "suffering" the same way?  I think it's all those yucky wet leaves!  Anyway, I got a very little bit of stamping time in over the weekend and made a couple cards for the Twofer Card Challenge, in which I have never participated!  My friend Carol is a guest designer there, so I decided to give it a try!  They're extremely CAS because that's all the energy I had, LOL!  So here we go:

I used Fun Stampers Journey's Harvest Wreath for the wreath; the wreath on the Thanksgiving card was stamped with Soft Suede ink and embellished with some faceted gems from Amber Moon; sadly, the photo just doesn't capture how pretty they are here:

My diecut sentiment was from the same set, stamped in Cajun Craze and overstamped with a stamp from Timeless Textures; the together was from The Paper Studio:

I finished it off with a Braided Linen Twine bow:

My second card is a Christmas card; the wreath was stamped in Soft Sea Foam, and the sentiment was stamped in Balmy Blue:

I colored some pearls with a Pink Pirouette Blend and added a Powder Pink bow:

And since the Christmas Card Throwdown's challenge is to use pink, green and blue, I am entering this one in their challenge as well!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Cassidy snagged another sunrise photo from her kitchen deck this morning:

And here is a sunrise photo my brother took very early one morning over the fountains of Longwood Gardens:

God's glory!

CAS Christmas Tree

Happy Friday, peeps!  I have a quick card today using the new Winter Woods set; it will be available September 5, and it coordinates so very nicely with the Rooted in Nature set!  I made a CAS card for the CAS Christmas challenge of "tree":

I stamped and diecut the main tree from the Winter Woods set, using Tranquil Tide ink, then stamped it again in the background without re-inking it.  I did the same technique with the two trees from Rooted in Nature, creating my background.  I added a stitched hillside, then stamped a sentiment from Christmas Pines and added a couple of pine boughs from Winter Woods:

I used an older Verve Christmas stamp for the inside and added a couple more pine sprigs as well!  I resisted putting some glitter on it...the last time I tried to add glitter to Tranquil Tide, it turned green!!  I'll have to work on that!

Today is Cassidy's 8th birthday and she has a jam-packed weekend ahead!  Last night her karate class went to a Wilmington (DE) Blue Rocks baseball game, where the black belts did a performance.  She got her picture taken with their mascot, Rocky Bluewinkle:

Now, Rocky has a cohort named Mr Celery---can you believe it!  If you have a few minutes, you can read how both mascots got their name here, and I will have to ask Cassidy tomorrow at her party if she got to see him!  Apparently he comes out if the team scores a run, and although they lost the game, they did score four runs!

And finally, I have two more birthday cards to share:

This beautifully-detailed one is from Fran!

And Ellen created this garden beauty!  Thanks, ladies!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!  Thanks for popping in!

Hark The Herald Angels Sing

Hi peeps!  A little late today---I have a Christmas card for you using the Merry Monday challenge of a favorite Christmas verse as well as the CAS Christmas Card challenge, to use an ornament:

I pulled out an old Waltzingmouse stamp set, I am not even sure what it's called--maybe Stitched Christmas?--and stamped it on some patterned paper in Early Espresso, fussy-cut it out, then added a nativity die and a sentiment from Papertrey:

I popped up the nativity scene against the palm trees, then "hung" it on some Christmas Pines pine branches with some Tranquil Tide ribbon:

and stamped the pine branches again in the lower corner behind the sentiment:

I hope this is CAS enough!  I sure love these challenge themes!  Thanks for popping in today!

I forgot to post this before-the-bus "impromptu" stamping session...Cassidy made her teacher an Easter card:

and yes, there was snow on the ground...thankfully, it's all gone, but it's still way too cold for April!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

SSC174 and 52CC10-18 Christmas Blessings

Happy Monday, everyone!  I have a quick little Christmas card today before I have my stamp club meeting!  It uses the Christmas Card Throwdown color challenge of kraft and red, and the sketch from Sunday Stamps:

Hearts Come Home is still available, as well as Christmas Pines, so I combined the two to create a little scene.  In hindsight, I wish I had heat embossed the houses in white, but I had already fussy-cut them all out and I was too lazy to do them again!!  So here we go:

I mounted them on a little layer of "snow" and added a moon cut with a 3/4" circle punch.  The background is a piece of Crumb Cake that had been run through the Softly Falling embossing folder that was covered with White Craft ink on the inside flat side of the folder.  I like how it's a reverse of the snowflakes on my little scene:

I added a sentiment embossed in white and a layer of Candy Cane Lane DSP (ret) for a coordinating background!  Another Christmas card for my stash!  Thanks for popping in...be sure to come back tomorrow for a nice little announcement!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Paper Players 367 Tis The Season

Happy Sunday, peeps!  I feel like I have been neglecting my blog friends, not visiting and commenting, so I apologize for that!  The sun finally came out yesterday and cheered me up a bit, although it was like going out in a Kansas tornado, the wind was so strong!  But January is like that!  Anyhoo, Jaydee is our Paper Players hostess this week and look at the colors that blew in from that crazy wind:

Love them together!  I chose white as my "other color", and I didn't even realize that I used the same Eastern Palace Specialty DSP for my card today as last week's card!!!  But it worked, that's all I can say!  I have gotten a slow start on my Christmas cards for this year, so I took the opportunity to make one using some Pretty Pines dies:

I cut out a sprig from each of the challenge colors and mounted them on a panel of Whisper White, adding a Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper bow and some rhinestones for a little extra shine!  The sentiment from Christmas Pines was stamped in Tranquil Tide; I cut the sentiment apart, which is simple to do since it's photopolymer, which made it easier to line up on two lines.  Here's a little better view of my "greenery":

On the inside I added a simple sentiment from Hearts Come Home (which was carried over, so you can still get it!) and some pine branches from Christmas Pines!

And since I have three sprigs of greenery, I am entering my card in the Jingle Belles challenge of "We Three Kings"....to have three of something on your card!

I hope you'll play with us this at the Players week..the DT has come up with some incredible samples for your inspiration!!  Check them out at the Paper Players blog or right here:

I don't have any recent pix of Cassidy, but I thought I would share a couple things she "created" over the last few weeks!  One was a pew card she filled in one morning while in church (Mommy helped her), which I thought was really cute and heart-warming:

It may be a little hard to read, but she is thanking God for us being alive, and she checked off ALL the boxes on the request card!  On the other side, she felt she had the gift of doing the offering....which I could actually see her doing some day, LOL!  She could follow in Wayne and Grampy's footsteps, as they regularly take offering!  The other picture....totally the other side of the spectrum, was drawn on an offering envelope...is of a pig!  Who can figure what is in children's minds, right?!  I love the little tail!

Thanks for popping by today and be blessed!
