PP624 A Little Birdie

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Time for a new Paper Players challenge with Jaydee hosting our latest Clean-and-Simple challenge!  Check it out:

I have tons of bird stamps, but most of them are "serious" bird stamps and I wanted a more "whimsical" bird for my card today!  I sort of hit a happy medium; I used a "semi-serious" diecut bird, coloring it to resemble a Carolina wren, and "sort-of whimsical" sentiment from Pure Innocence.  So here we go:

The bird was diecut from Sahara Sand cardstock and watercolored and perched on a Soft Suede branch:

I found some DSP in my stash that looked like little birdie foot prints, so I used the Stitched With Whimsy die on it and mounted it on a card base of Crumb Cake as well.  I heat embossed the sentiment on a Basic Black banner:

And since I LOST the stamp that said "Happy Bird-Day" in the abyss of my stamp room, I resorted to a computer-generated sentiment to adhere on the inside!

I am also going to enter this at the Seize the Birthday challenge--Winged Things!

I really wish I could have come up with a more whimsical image for my creation today, but sometimes you've just got to go with what you have! I hope you can find something to play with for our "Happy Bird-Day CAS" challenge and share it with us at the Players this week too!  Be sure to see what the DT came up with...they'll make you smile!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

IB134 Surf's Up

Happy Thursday, peeps!  Time for another Inspired By challenge, and we are quickly jumping right back into summer...no fall colors here!  Here's Danni's photo inspiration and optional sketch; you can use one, the other, or both:

I made two cards for this challenge; I almost posted the first one and then remembered I had a stamp that would be perfect for "surfing" part of the challenge!  So I'll show you that one first; it does use the sketch and is pretty simple:

I began with a piece of Bashful Blue cardstock and some striped papers from Carta Bella's Soak Up the Sun line for the base.  A piece of "sky" paper from the same pack was diecut with a scalloped rectangle die and the retired Surfer stamp was stamped on top in Bermuda Bay; I added some Ice Glitter to give the impression of a frothy wave:

The sentiment is from a really old Pure Innocence stamp called Beach Bum; I stamped it in Pretty Peacock and diecut it with a Tasteful Labels die, cutting another one to outline it in Bermuda Bay:

Since I wanted this for a masculine birthday, I was pushing it with the glitter, so I thought I'd just stop there with embellishments!  I am also entering this in the Little Red Wagon challenge, which is looking for stripes or spots!

And my original card was this one:

Same basic layout, papers from the same pack; I created a palm tree silhouette with the Forever Flourishing dies:

and added some sequins and a sentiment from Unity:

This is decidedly more feminine, so I am happy with both!  I hope you'll find some inspiration from the photo....and be sure to check what the DT created....they are AMAZING!  Thanks for popping in today---be sure to come back later for a Tic Tac Toe challenge card too!

CTD136 & MFTWSC14

DSCF0416

I just had to take a peek at today’s Color Throwdown colors, ‘cuz I missed them so much!  Here are Laura’s colors:

and I paired them up with the MFT sketch for this week:

MFTWSC14

I just bought the PI Beach Bum set because my DGD’s birthday is in August and I thought it would be cute for her, but I couldn’t wait that long to play with it!  The colors seemed beachy to me, too!  Here ya go:

I also used some CC Salt Air paper , a little beachy border punch, some sparkly twill, a few little pearls and pleated seam binding for my creation!  There’s also some DD glitter on the “sand” too, but you can’t see it here. :(

Fun sketch, fun card!  DGD is fighting her first cold, poor thing, and although her mood is fine, she is taking a much longer nap today---so I had more stamping time!  Thanks for stopping by today!
