LIM459 One Layer One Word

Happy Monday, peeps! Wow, the last day of February!  Hope you had a good weekend. Thinking of and praying for all the souls in the Ukraine, such an unspeakable tragedy.  I pray it is all over soon! I did get some stamping time yesterday and wanted to try (again) no-line watercoloring.  Mine never turn out quite as well as the videos that I watch, but I gave it a try again.  Since I used only one layer and and one word, I am entering it at the Less Is More challenge as well:

So here we go:

I always use one of two papers for my watercoloring: watercolor paper or Shimmery White.  Since I wanted to make a full card, I chose to use Shimmery White.  The colors move around nicely on it since it has a kind of coating that makes the shimmer, but also helps the water and ink not to soak in too quickly.  I stamped the image from Friendly Hello in Sahara Sand ink and then used an aquapainter to color everything in.  I went a little too strong on my flowers, I would have preferred to have them lighter, but I guess it's a learning curve!  I chose to make the bird a wee little house finch; they have been very active at my feeders and although the colors aren't perfect, they're close enough!

I added a Soft Sueded sentiment from Biggest Wish and you might be able to see some itty bitty speckles stamped in Soft Seafoam around the bird.  Perhaps if I had watercolored a bit of background it would have looked better.  I'll keep practicing!  Thanks for popping in today!

I showed you last week the pictures of non-happy Eden, sad that she was banished from the new couch and forced to sleep in her new bed.  Here's HER new bed on the left, and GINGER'S new bed on the right:

Yep, she refuses to sleep in her bed and wants to sleep in Ginger's. Heaven knows where Ginger is! Don't you wish you could know what was in their minds?  Pets are so funny!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

CH35 Stenciled Florals

Happy Monday, peeps!  Hope you had a good weekend!  My friend Michele inspired me to try the Color Hues challenge this week:

Michele is a whiz at making stupendous floral cards, so I can't even begin to compete with hers.  But I did give it a go with SU's new stencils (ie: masks), and I really liked how this came out:

I am still struggling to get my photos to the way I like them--hopefully by Thursday I will have my own computer back---but I am hoping you can get the picture, LOL!  I stenciled the lighter layer in Blushing Bride, then added Polished Pink on top.  I used Misty Moonlight as my "navy", stenciling the leaves in that shade:

I added some pink speckles and a sentiment from Flowering Rain Boots.  And while I had my blending brushes handy, I added another little flower on the inside of my Misty Moonlight card:

I must tell you that the samples in the Color Hues gallery are stunning!  So creative!  Thanks for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

Hello There Bluebird

Happy Monday, peeps, and Happy Valentine's Day!  I have a couple of fun cards today!  The first one is for the fun sketch at TGIF Challenges and it also uses the color palette from Hand Stamped Sentiments:

I was inspired by the colors, of course, and the birds and flowers!  Friendly Hello was still on my desk, so I went with it:

I didn't use a heart shape, but a partial circle; I stamped and watercolored the flowers first, then on another piece, stamped, colored and fussy-cut the bird.  I rarely use Pacific Point, but it seemed like a good shade for the challenge, and I paired it with Blushing Bride.  I added some DSP, a sentiment from Eden's Garden and a few rhinestones.  It went on a panel of Basic White that I embossed with the Timeworn Type EF, and just for fun, added a little trimmed-down doily:

I stamped and decorated the inside as well:

And since today is Valentine's Day, I'm sharing the simple card I made for Cassidy:

I used Sweet Talk DSP and diecut the Papertry letters from a piece Highland Heather cardstock, then backed it with another piece of Sweet Talk.  The sentiment is from Special Moments; it actually says "for someone who is WONDERFUL in each and every way", and I just cut it apart!!

Thanks for visiting today!  I'm not doing menus today, so if you have any questions on supplies, shoot me an email!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AYSI268 Watercolored Blooms

Hi everyone!  Happy Friday! It's time for a new As You See It challenge...this week's is a "Fill in the Blank"!  What is a favorite technique you use in your stamping?

I love all aspects of creating hand-stamped cards, but I do love to watercolor!  I used to joke that the reason I started stamping is because I couldn't draw, but I could certainly color in someone else's artwork!  So I was particularly drawn to line-art stamps because I could make them whatever color I wanted!  The Friendly Hello SAB set has some pretty little line-art flowers, so I stamped them in Stazon ink on watercolor paper and went to work:

I am calling this a "mini" slimline card; it measures 6" x 2.75" and worked perfectly for the Atlantic Hearts sketch for this week:

You need to use Stazon ink when watercoloring, as it is an alcohol-based ink and the water and reinkers I use to color the flower in won't cause the black ink to bleed.  I used two patterns from the Friendly Hello DSP, cut some squares and black scalloped mats, then added the watercolored and fussy-cut flowers and leaves:

I added a sentiment from the Flowering Rainboots set, and some rhinestones I colored with a black Sharpie marker:

I didn't add a sentiment to the inside; I'll leave it blank and stamp it when the occasion arises that I need a card like this!

So, what's a favorite technique of yours? I hope you'll check out what the DT shared on the As You See It blog; maybe their technique is yours too!  Share yours with us--can't wait to see what you create!  Thanks for visiting today!

SSC276 Friendly Hello

Happy Monday, peeps!  Hope you had a great weekend!  I got some new SAB goodies and I couldn't wait to play with the new Friendly Hello DSP...it has some colors and prints that I just love!  This card makes the best use of some of that DSP with this easy sketch from Sunday Stamps:

And here we go:

I used a die from the Scalloped Contours set to create the Basic Black panel, mounted it on a piece of DSP and added another layer on top of the black panel, centering the bird image on it.  I added a bow of gingham ribbon:

and a sentiment from another SAB set, Special Moments, diecut with the Ornate Frames die:

I had a couple of little leftover strips of the DSP left, so I added one to the inside along with my sentiment and a little sprig of Pool Party stamped behind it:

This was so easy to put together!  Thanks for visiting today!

Cassidy went on her first sleepover Christian Endeavor camp at Pine Brook, which is near the Poconos.  They were supposed to leave on Friday night but the roads were icy, so they left Saturday morning.  Dana used to go to the same camp and she had fond memories of it and was excited for Cassidy to go too.  There were five girls and their leader, along with the brave driver, our friend Tom.   The other girls are a little older, but Cassidy's best friend from school was also there so I know they probably spent most of their time together!  Plus her friend's mom went to Pine Brook many years with Dana!  The tradition continues! But you can tell by the look on Cassidy's face that she is WORN OUT!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
