Christmas Wishes

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  I have a sweet vintage-themed card for you today; the challenge at 52 Christmas Card Countdown wants to see a fireplace, and the Color Hues challenge is blue and cream:

I used a shade of blue a wee bit darker---Misty Moonlight--and a stamp from Cornish Heritage Farms from many years ago when they were still around.  Here we go:

I stamped and diecut my image, added a scalloped border, then layered it on a piece of blue printed paper from Authentique's Alpine collection.  I added a circle diecut with an Artistic Outpost sentiment, added a little scalloped border under it and then for fun, a wee little diecut stocking:

And a Cornish Heritage Farms sentiment for the inside!

And since I used circles and squares on my card, I'm squeaking this in over at Just Add Ink:

Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Vintage Frosty

Happy Monday, peeps! I have a quick card today for two challenges!  The As You See It challenge is a fun little sketch, and the Jingle Belles challenge is to create a card using a Christmas story or movie!

I think it was in first grade, my teacher, Miss Brown, read us the story of Frosty the Snowman and I always loved it!  The thought of a snowman melting in the sun made me a wee bit sad though!  I have a set of vintage Christmas images from an old Artistic Outpost stamp set and Frosty happens to be one of them!  I paired him with some pretty new Snowflake Magic foil and the new Snowflake Sky embossing folder:

I added a sentiment from another retired set called Snow Much Fun and a little glimmer dot and it was done!  And this little guy won't melt!

And a Papertrey sentiment for the inside finished it off!

Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

52CCCTD28 Fussy Cut Vintage Christmas Deer

Hello everyone!  I was thrilled to be chosen as a 52 Christmas Card Throwdown winner recently, so I am guesting this week for their current challenge!  This week we're concentrating on fussy-cutting, where you cut out an image rather than use a die!  Here's the prompt:

I had several ideas for this challenge but in the end, I decided to use a little retro deer image because I found some retro deer papers that I thought would be fun to use!  So here we go:

These cute retro papers were some I got last year in a Simon Says Stamp kit.  I have no idea the name of the papers, though, sorry!  Anyway, the deer reminded me of a little deer stamp I got years ago from Artistic Outpost, so I stamped the image three times: once in Soft Sea Foam (for the trees), once in Pebbled Path (for the shadows), and once in Pecan Pie (for the deer).  After coloring in the deer with some ink and an aquapainter, and adding the spots with a white gel pen, I fussy-cut everything out and adhered the elements to the Pebbled Path image, which I had diecut with a Stylish Shapes die.  Before adhering, I did use a blending brush to add some Soft Sky to the background:

I added a glimmer paper scallop piece behind it, which is prettier in real life than shows here, and an Impression Obsession sentiment at the bottom:

For the corner embellishments, I added some subtle sequins so as not to detract too much from the central image.

Everything was mounted on a Pistachio Pudding card base, and I stamped this retro sentiment from Flonzcraft in Mint Macaron ink:

I love how this turned out, even though it took a little extra time for the fussy-cutting, it was still a fun card to create!  I hope you'll get out your sharp scissors and do a little fussy-cutting for the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown challenge!  Share it over at the blog, so we all can enjoy it!  Thanks for visiting today--enjoy it and be blessed!

Collage Sympathy

Happy Thursday, peeps.  Sadly, I needed a sympathy card this week and I felt the need to do some collage stamping, which I haven't done for a while!  I pulled out an Artistic Outpost stamp that hasn't seen very much ink, and some linen-printed CTMH paper and went to work:

The linen paper had a gray tone to it, so I randomly stamped all the background images from Birds of a Feather in Smoky Slate ink, then added the bird and the sentiment (Special Moments) in Versafine Onyx.  For fun, I added some Stitchery "bird tracks" along the edge in Smoky Slate and Basic Gray and a row of hearts diecut from Basic Black cardstock along the top.

It all went on a card base of Papertrey's Soft Stone cardstock.  I really wanted to add some ribbon or bling, but the recipient is kind of a plain-and-simple gal, so I left it as it was.  I added a Bible verse to the inside and it's ready to mail.  Thanks for popping in today..enjoy it and be blessed!

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.  For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.  And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.  Romans 8:28-30

FF0114 From the Funny Farm

Happy Monday, peeps!  A little late this morning....have to get back into my "working" mode after having a couple weeks off from babysitting!  I thought I'd play with the Festive Friday challenge, since I had not played with it for a while:

I got this cute IO owl last year and I thought he would be fun to use as a non-Halloween card:

I chose from the inspo list owl, feather and brown, and I guess I could throw in woodland too!  Mr Owl was stamped in Soft Suede and blended with some Crumb Cake ink:

I added a Soft Suede mat, then used a sentiment from Charming Sentiments, diecut with the matching die, and an older Artistic Outpost sentiment because this lil dude definitely looks like he is from the funny farm!  A sentiment from Biggest Wish was stamped on the inside, along with some feathers from PTI:

I am sure I have some friends who would appreciate this card, LOL!  Thanks for popping in today!

While visiting Driftwood Beach, the kids found a rope swing.  Cassidy found out it's a little harder than it looks on TV!  She managed to get a foot in the loop:

Held on tight while Wayne spotted her:

Wheeeeee!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

IB197 Sweet Little Deer

Hello peeps!  Happy Thanksgiving again!  It's Thursday and time for a new Inspired By challenge! This is a color challenge, so although you can use the inspiration photos for "inspiration", it's really the colors we want to see:

And here's the optional sketch:

I did use the sketch as well as that cute little deer as the inspiration for my card today--check it out:

I am using the colors of Real Red, Shaded Spruce and Crumb Cake, and this little deer is fussy-cut from some retired DSP. I embossed the card with the Wintery EF, then sponged on a bit of Craft White ink.

The sentiment is from an old Artistic Outpost set called Frosty & Friends, cut with an Ornate Frame die; the snowflakes are cut using the Stitched Snowflake dies.  This little deer reminds me of Bambi...so cute!  I hope you'll find some inspiration from our photos as well!  Share them with us at Inspired By!  Can't wait to see what you create!

Cassidy made some goodies for the family last week:

I think it was a good thing I wasn't around to eat any...I would have gained a pound for sure!

Thanks for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

AYSI254 Enjoy the Sketch

Hi stampers!  Happy Friday!  Hope you're all safe and sound this day!  The As You See It challenge is a sketch this week; check it out:

I desperately needed some masculine birthday cards, so I went to one of my favorite "guy" stamp sets and did some stamping and creative diecutting:

I did flip the sketch so that my motorcycle wouldn't look like it was headed off the side of my card!  It was stamped in Night of Navy, and I did some grunge stamping and sponging to give it some depth to match my denim papers.  The sentiment is from Pampered Pets, diecut with the Tasteful Labels dies and embellished with some copper brads....sadly, which are not centered very well, but I doubt the recipient will even notice!

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from Biggest Wish in Night of Navy and Cinnamon Cider:

I hope you'll play along with our fun sketch this week...I need more masculine cards, so I may just keep using this one!  Share your creation with us at As You See It!  Thanks for popping in today!

A few more zoo pix:

Aren't they amazing?!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!
