PP671 Happiest Birthday

Hello crafty friends! It's time for a brand-new round of challenges from the Paper Players!  We have two new guest designers this year--Jolanda Johnstone and Cynthia Stevenson--so be sure to stop by the blog and give them some encouragement!

Our first hostess of 2024 is Ann and she's chosen a perfect theme for us, one we all need--birthday celebrations!

It gave me a chance to break out a beautiful stamp set from the mini catalog called Stippled Roses.  I had my friend Robyn in mind when creating this card, as her favorite color is purple and she just celebrated her birthday!  So here we go:

It is so easy to create an impressive card with this gorgeous image! I stamped it in Highland Heather and diecut it with the matching dies.  The background was also stamped in the same ink; I used the smaller rose and the vintage words from Quiet Meadow.  They were stamped in Versamark ink so as to not overpower the florals.  The sentiment is also from Stippled Roses, simply stamped on a narrow panel of Basic White and the edges were snipped by hand.

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from Timeless Arrangements and used a retired Ornate Frames die to cut the white panel as well as a Gorgeous Grape scrolled panel to highlight it:

I look forward to using this set a lot more in the future!

We all need birthday cards, so I hope you'll be inspired to play along with us at the Players this week!  Stop by to see what the design team created as well as our new guest designers!  Hope to see you in the gallery!

A few more treats from Longwood:

Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AHSC526 Inked & Tiled

Hello, friends!  I have been having lots of fun playing with new goodies!  I am over-the-moon about these papers and stamp set!  The set is called Inked and Tiled, and the papers are called Inked Botanicals.  Here we go:

I used the sketch from Atlantic Hearts:

I used my Stamparatus to stamp the flowers in Calypso Coral and the stems in Soft Seafoam.  I also touched them up with a wet paintbrush to itensify the colors a bit.  A few speckles from Quiet Meadow finished it off.  The sentiment is from the same set, also stamped in Soft Seafoam and I added a few Iridescent Pastel Gems.  I left the inside blank, ready for any occasion!

My friend recently gave me a big bouquet of peonies:

They were gorgeous, and we thoroughly enjoyed them!  Thanks for popping in today---enjoy it and be blessed!

But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. I call out to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain.  Psalm 3:3-4

TMS707 Warm Hello

Happy Thursday, peeps!  The weekend is almost upon us!  My card today uses the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches:

I admit that little tilted sentiment had me going for a bit.  But I looked at my stamps and here's what I came up with, using Circle Sayings:

Lost Lagoon is such a pretty color, I am thrilled it has returned!  I am still waiting to receive my big DSP order, so I had to resort to using a Blending Brush on some gold-embossed DSP from a couple years back called Golden Honey Specialty.  I lightly blended some Lost Lagoon ink, added a Gold Foil scalloped border at the bottom, then stamped the seashell images from the Circle Sayings twice to make a full circle, then punched it out.  I then stamped a starfish on a scrap and fussy-cut it out. I also added a few speckles with a really old Zig Gold Painty Pen:

I heat-embossed a sentiment from the same set in Gold and added some Versamark speckles from the Quiet Meadow set:

I like the gold/lagoon color combo!  You may be seeing more of this!  Thanks so much for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

Countryside Corners

Happy Monday, peeps! Hope you had a good weekend! I was playing around with my new Countryside Corners stamps and dies last week....I love the coordinating papers, all those BLUES make me happy!  So here we go:

I stamped the large image a couple of times in Craft White ink, once on Boho Blue and another on Night of Navy, then carefully cut them out with the dies.  I did a smaller panel on Basic White, stamping it with Balmy Blue and adding a sentiment from Quiet Meadow:

Everything was mounted on a piece of Countryside Inn, then on a Bojo Blue card base.  I did add a wee bit of Boho Blue ribbon on the side for an embellishment!  These colors make me happy!  Thanks for popping in today!

We had a bit of summer-like weather over the last few days (not today, though!).  Dana caught up on some reading on the hammock, along with Ginger:

I am sure if Eden tried to get up there, the whole hammock would have given way, LOL!  Meanwhile, in Isle of Palms, South Carolina, where my sister lives (near Charleston), this view was right off her porch:

I believe this is called a shelf cloud, I could be wrong though!  It only brought a little bit of wind and rain and blew right through, but how impressive is that?!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

The disciples went and woke him, saying "Lord, save us! We're going to drown."  He replied, "You of of little faith, why are you so afraid?"  Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.  The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this?  Even the winds and the waves obey him!"  Matthew 8:25-27

Three Cards, One Sketch for In(k)spire Me:

Happy Saturday, peeps!  I've been playing around with some different techniques lately, after seeing some lovely cards out in blogland!  I needed three thank you cards, so I decided to use the same sketch and stamp set for all three, making each one a little different. I used the sketch from In(k)spire Me, although I didn't use the color palette:

So let me show you the first one, which is my favorite:

All the cards use the flower from Quiet Meadow and the sentiment from Nature's Prints, and all are on Very Vanilla cardstock.  The flowers were stamped with Stazon ink and after I made sure the ink was dry, I used a circle stencil to sponge in some Boho Blue ink:

Then I tore a piece of cardstock and used the ragged edges as another type of stencil, and sponged in some ink between the edges for a faux torn strip.  To the left, I stamped the fern image in Crumb Cake and added a Linen Thread bow:

My second one uses the same stencil technique for the flowers, using Moody Mauve and Boho Blue ink.   I used the Best Borders die to cut the panel in sections, stamped some foliage underneath on the Moody Mauve card, and added a Linen Thread embellishment as well.

The third one was watercolored instead of stenciled, and I used Calypso Coral and Soft Seafoam inks along with a strip of Calypso Coral DSP and a bit of frayed Baker's Twine, all on a Soft Seafoam card.

I do enjoy watercoloring, so this one is probably my second-favorite!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Inspired By Nature in Purple

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  Laurel Seabrook has a pretty Inspired By Nature photo inspiration today as well as a fun sketch:

Isn't this pretty?  Are there really purple mushrooms in real life?  Not sure!  Anyway, I usually RUN from shades of purple, but I thought I would challenge myself.  I used the sketch as well as some purple cardstocks, so here we go:

I used panels of Purple Posy (retired), Fresh Freesia and Highland Heather for my layers.  I used some dies to cut some scalloped panels, then added some embossed pieces on top.  The smallest layer is a diecut tag; I stamped the words from Quiet Meadow in Craft white ink, then added a spring stamped in Soft Seafoam on top, and embellished it with some Linen Thread:

My final addition was an embossed sentiment on a little banner of Soft Seafoam:

I am also entering this at Little Red Wagon this week, which is asking for layers! Definitely out of my comfort zone, but hopefully someone will enjoy receiving it!  And it was fun to use some retired as well as retiring products!  Thanks for popping in today; enjoy it and be blessed!

Inspired By Thinking of You

Happy Friday, peeps, happy weekend!  I have a colorful card for you today for the Inspired By challenge; here's the prompt and sketch:

I needed a get well/thinking of you card for a friend of ours who is doing some rehab, and the nested bowls in the photo reminded me of the little teacup stamp that SU had a long time ago!  I found papers to match the bright colors, cut them to fit the sketch and here we go:

I stamped the teacups in Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight and Tahitian Tide, then fussy cut them out and popped them up on a circular diecut:

I added some sequins, then a sentiment from Quiet Meadow, stamped in Coastal Cabana and diecut with a banner die from Give It A Whirl, then added another sentiment from the same set on the inside, highlighting it with a circle stamp from Watercolor Shapes:

Thanks for popping in today, I appreciate it!  AND I appreciate all the comments and suggestions about my mess-up on the 80th birthday card!  Some great ideas, thanks so much!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Jar of Sunflowers Minus the Jar

Happy Saturday, peeps!  Hope you're all doing well and have something fun planned this weekend!  I have neglected the Jar of Flowers stamp set and wanted to create a card for a customer since she just purchased it!  I thought I would not  use the jar stamp itself, instead just using the image peeking out from behind some pretty DSP:

I used the sketch only from this week's Fusion challenge, as well as the colors from Color Hue:

I stamped the flowers in Saddle Brown Stazon ink so I could watercolor them with reinker inks.  I used Thick Very Vanilla cardstock for the card since it is a little more able to accept watercolor than regular weight cardstock.  I added a few speckles, and a scalloped border using some Crushed Curry Rustic Harvest DSP:

Then finished it off with a little Soft Suede DSP banner and some Linen Thread.  The sentiment is from Quiet Meadow.  You can't see it, but the centers of the flowers have also been accented with Wink of Stella!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!

So I convinced Dana to enter some of her crocheted projects at the fair this last week and we were both thrilled that she won ribbons for all five entries! (Forgive the glare; they exhibit everything under heavy plastic!)  This baby blanket won a first ribbon:

As did this hat and scarf set; don't you love that furry pompom?

This baby blanket won a third:

And so did this fun hat!

She also won a second for a pretty cowl, but I forgot to take a picture of that one!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Thinking of You

Happy Monday, peeps! Hope you had a good weekend! I am squeaking in this card for the Fusion challenge (just the sketch) as well as the colors from Just Us Girls:

I pulled out some papers in Petal Pink, Smoky Slate, and Gold Foil,  and the little stamp set from the SU kit called A Little Smile  and went to work:

A real simple card; I heat-embossed the sentiment in gold, then fussy-cut the sea elements after stamping them in Smoky Slate, Petal Pink and Crumb Cake:

I added a few little "sandy"  speckles for fun!  Thanks for popping in today!

Speaking of sand:

The beach might have been a little chilly yesterday:

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
