Another anniversary lighthouse

Another version of a previous card -for another late anniversary greeting.  This couple also enjoys RV travel along the Oregon coast - and so do we.  This is such a lovely vintage picture - a freebie from TLC.  It was new to me to make these cards.   The sun is die cut from what was probably my first Cuttlebug purchase all those years ago -from an alphabet set I think is called Olivia.  I tried to die the edges of the image with coffee - did not turn out too well!

For my sister - version 2

Another card for my sister who long ago had dreams of being a concert violinist - and who has played in several orchestras. The image is one of so many freebies posted by TLC in Facebook.  I used papers from a collection called Heirloom, and added a bit of gold cord.  Too late for Christmas, but I made a couple to send to my sister - maybe she can use them as notecards.  I forgot to measure, and they went in the mail today, but they are about 5x7. I cut the image with decorative scissors.

for my sister

I saw this image and had to make something for my sister.  She has played in an orchestra, and likes vintage.  I hope she likes this - even though it is too late for Christmas this year.  Image is by TLC - one of a huge collection of freebies.  This may be a stretch for the :"dream" theme, but long ago her dream was to be an accomplished violinist.

For Anna

This is for our granddaughter who is an elementary teacher.  I know that she really encourage reading so when I saw the TLC image I realized it would be perfect.  Then I found this little pack of  Mary Engelbreit school papers (by Studio8)  on the top of my stack just waiting to be used.  To accommodate the image and the 6x6 papers, I made a square card.  The center part of the DP is embossed with the Cuttlebug happy birthday folder. (FYI - the main layer with the book border is all one piece.)  The bottom strip is a bit of another sheet in this set.
I just realized I missed adding my link to the blogs.  Maybe I can still catch a couple of these challenges!

Happy birthday Deb

Maybe not the usual birthday card, but our daughter lives near the front range of CO - they have had a lot of snow and were without power for 2 days - am sure she is ready for spring!  This is  a lovely new image from TLC. The main bg papers are from a pad by Recollections - I like the subtle coloring.  The dies are a labels set from Spellbinders.

For Bill and Kay

Another in a series of cards going to members of our church in need of encouragement.
Image - a colored one in my files from TLC; DP also in my stash.  The stencil is one of a set I purchased years ago at a local store (long since gone).  The owner cut larger sheets of a type of very thin plastic into 3x6 pieces.  There are these circles, larger circles, tiny stars, hexagons and a couple of others.  I tend to forget about them, but they are handy to use.  I used SU chalk with the stencil.  I completed the card with a bit of ribbon and a Cheery Lynn die cut.

SCS Tea pot party #500

Once again, I have used this Impression Obsession stamp (borrowed from a fellow stamper) to create a card for the 500th challenge at the Tea Pot Party at SplitCoastStampers. If you are looking for a heart-warming place to send your extra cards, try us out.  Each week teapotters create cards to send to someone in need of cheer and support.  (This week is a bit different - we can send to someone we personally know, and I will send this to a former member of our church who has moved due to health issues.)  The theme of the challenge is a mode of transportation - well, I am stretching that a bit, but I wanted to try out this borrowed stamp and pair it with the scripture from TLC.  I completed the card with an embossed piece, Washi tape, and shiny gems.  I also had to "stretch" the sketch due to the size of the stamp.  This is similar to a previous card, but I used white rather than beige, and the layout is different.  If you have seen both - which do you prefer?

Tea Pot Party card for a friend

Some of you may have seen previous posts about the Tea Pot Tuesday challenge at SplitCoastStampers.  This is a challenge open to any one (to post in the gallery, you must join the SCS site, but that is easy to do).  Each week there is a theme and destination posted - usually, some one in need of support and cheer.  This week is the 500th challenge - what a milestone!  In honor of the occasion we are to select some one we know to receive our cards, and the theme is transportation.  Well, I stretched the theme a bit - this is such a great Scripture, and I just borrowed this stamp, so I had to use them.  I will send the card to friends from church who moved to another city.

SplitCoastStampers Teapot Party #489

I have some serious catching up to do with the TeaPot Tuesday RAK challenges at SplitCoastStampers.  I used to be a regular, but have been more of an occasional participant recently.  I need to do better.  This card goes to Martina whose sister, her last family member, recently died, and Martina is lonely.  I used her favorite colors and another favorite, a butterfly.  This scripture, from TLC, seems appropriate.  Information on the TeaPot Party can be found here.

HB, Terry

This probably should have a belated sentiment as I doubt the mail will get it to our son-in-law on time.  I just did not get it finished yesterday!  As long as I keep finding new fishing images, I am set for his birthday, as he loves to fish at every opportunity.  This is a pre colored freebie from TLC - (cut with oval dies) thanks once again.  I found a piece of red and white dp in my scrap stash that just about matches that pre-colored shirt!  The sentiment is a digi from Eureka.  To finish the card I used some cord for the diagonal lines, and, since the fish on the line looked a bit small I added a couple more (rub ons).
Part of the inside verse says:  "FISH:  an animal that grows the fastest between the time it's caught and the time the fisherman describes it to his friends."

Special thanks to Julee and Mojo

This is a bittersweet Monday.  Julee Tilman has produced Mojo Monday sketches for nearly 10 years - this is sketch #500!  WOW!  She has decided to end the challenge in order to have more time for her family, including 5 year old twins.  Sad for us,, but great for all of you!  Thanks for all you have given.
Sometimes various elements just seem to come together - certainly makes me feel good when that happens.  I selected the freebie from TLC - I like to have encouraging cards on hand.  Then I found a strip of DP (bottom panel)  that was part of a terrific yard sale bonanza.  Unfortunately. there is only anough left for one more card.  No labels so I have no idea of the origin.  The top panel was in that same purchase.  I added some Washi tape, metallic cord, and a bit of ribbon trim - also a yard sale find.

Whoo...

I looked for some sayings to go with this image, and this is the best I could do for kind of a generic one (computer generated).  The digi image is from Paulette at TLC designs - thank you for your generosity.  I added a strip of washi tape, some metal brads, and a ribbon.  I left off the flowers as I intend this is a masculine card.

Sunshine and flowers

Paulette at Create with TLC shares so many great digis - mostly sayings.  I think this one is a great one for encouragement.  I used some DP that was a gift, and cut flowers from the DP as well a some glitter papers.

Joshua's graduation

We just heard that the son of friends of ours graduated in December - so this is pretty much a belated congratulations card.  Since it was so late I decided not to make it look so much like graduation.  I saw Erin's sample card at Clear it Out, and used it for a case/inspiration for this masculine look.  (used:  wood grain dp (from my very old stash!); Cuttlebug Congratulations embossing, Washi tape (the design looks like an arrow); a freebie verse from TLC (Thanks so much - perfect for my greeting); button dies tied with cord. For a simple card, I met a lot of challenges!
