Another card for a sailor.

Sweek Sketch Wednesday2

Here is another card to donate - to be sent to sailors who are deployed - see more details in my previous post.  I hope that some one will enjoy this cardboard boat image by Dearie Dolls - a pre-colored freebie.  I have so many supplies I am trying to use - the corner items are stickers.  I added twine and some shiny gems. Spellbinder dies were used to cut the ovals.

For a sailor

I have been giving some cards to a local group called Hearts for the Troops.  A navy Mom most recently "adopted" an entire navy ship - sending care packages and cards. One of the sailors should enjoy this.  I hope to have a few more cards for her to send for birthdays as well as some to include in the care boxes.  For this card I used a pre-colored Dearie Doll digi, embossing by Cuttlebug, washi tape, a bit of pattern paper, and die cuts by Spellbinder.

Bonus DT card for Crafter's Cafe - TIc Tac Toe

I had an opportunity to select a bonus image for the current Tic Tac Toe challenge at the Crafter's Cafe.  I was happy to select All American Owen from the Paper Nest Dolls.  He will make a great card to donate to the local group Hearts for the Troops - but not so great for the tic tac toe grid LOL!
The embossed layer is by Darice and looks like fireworks.
Diagonal - white, patterned paper, dry embossing

Come join us during the next two weeks!

DT card - QKR Stampede #285 - Hearts for the Troops

Once again, we invite you to participate in the weekly Anything Goes challenge at QKR Stampede.  You may enter up to 3 times by Thursday at 6 p.m. EST.  Winners receive images from the QKR Stampede - there is also a winner for using QKR/Eureka images, with more images available for winners.
I selected this  image from Eureka (sister company to QKR Stampede) called Stars and Stripes balloons.  I am going to contribute some cards to a local group called Hearts for the Troops.  A navy mom sends many birthday cards each month to her son's buddies.  This week they are going to pack up gift packs of plastic eggs and candies - a lot of sailors are going to get some sweet treats!
I used a Spellbinder scalloped rectangle die cut to back the balloon image.  The sentiment is also from Eureka, and the Celebrate panel is a colored sticker from Creative Imaginations.  This time I colored with a red fine point Sharpie.  I used the sharpie and gel pens on the sentiment.

Operation quiet Comfort

Over at SplitCoastStampers the Falliday Fest is wrapping up.  One of the destinations for a card drive is Operation Quiet Comfort - this time, specifically, a thank you for the military.  I combined it with the challenge to recognize something beautiful - in this case, gratitude for the troops protecting America the Beautiful.  The stamp is part of a Close to my Heart set.

Patriotic Gertie for granddaughter

Our granddaughter is completing her requisite 5 (parachute) jumps.  She is beginning her second year at the USAF academy. We told her to let us know after she finishes, not before!  She enjoys my cards, and I am sure she will like this.  I have had these papers, brads and buttons for some time.  The red stars are punched, and the blue trellis and sentiment are die cuts (Cuttlebug).  Blue and red Washi tape strips at the top do not show up on the photo.  Patriotic Gertie - ready for an outdoor parade - is part of a freebie set at Imagine That Digi Stamp Store.

Patriotic cat for Adrienne

Our granddaughter, a cat lover, is very successfully completing her first year at the US Air Force Academy.  It has been a challenging and rewarding year for her, and we want to congratulate and encourage her.  I periodically send her unsigned cards that she in turn can use to send to her friends.  I thought the starry red DP would make a cute cat!  It s an old stamp with the label Sarah Biese.

Happy Birthday to some one who loves to grill.

This stampin Fella image fits our son-in-law to a "t" - except, I must admit, the physique!  His birthday is today, and he loved the card.  The coloring is with Prismas, and the "pinwheel" cut with a CB die - for me, this works as an alternative to flowers on a masculine card.

Patriotic bee

This is busier than I usually like - but probably ok for a 4th of July celebration!  I added stickles and a gold metallic ink to include some sparkle - they do not seem to show on the screen.  The red and white dots are a piece of Recollections tape - I am really liking to use tape for some of these small accents - I can add the accent without adding bulk.

Honoring a wounded hero

It is so important to support our military.  I saw this on SplitCoastStampers :http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/card-requests-f202/hero-can-use-good-dose-sc-love-t553344.html  regarding a young soldier who lost all four limbs as a result of a bombing incident.  I hope some of you will check it out and join me in sending support.
The eagle and sentiment came from my stash of patriotic images.  I have lots of stars, etc., but none in the right deep red and blue, so I used one of my first Cuttlebug purchases, the asterisk die. I colored with Twinkling H2O for a bit of shine.  The stripes are Paper Pizazz, and the twine from Pizzazz Aplenty.
