Get Well - Dearie Doll

I seldom make get well cards - more thinking of you.  This die cut from Cuttlebug has not been used a lot!  The tag is by Spellbinder - cropped at the bottom.  The cord is a metallic gold; the image a pre-colored digi by Dearie Dolls; the DP by Lily of the Valley.

AI - Masculine birthday

The AI challenge is to use watercolor and highlight with white gel pen.  I used watercolor pencils and an aqua pen. I did highlight the hat and the arms of the chair as well as the star (it was a purchased die cut) - but they do not show up much on the screen.  (IRL I created a plaid pattern for the lawn chair.)  Embellishments include Washi tape, shiny dark gold gems and die cut grass.

HB, Deb

Since our daughter has declined to quit having birthdays (each one she has makes me feel older LOL!) it will be good to remember her special day.  This year it falls on Easter Sunday - a double celebration.  They are planning a visit in June so we will not be together at this time.  This is an image from Beccy's place, and the sentiment is a gift (RAK) I just received from a generous friend, Valerie.  It is from a set called the Stamps of Life.  I used some DP that was also a gift from another friend - I have had it for a couple of years and I am sure she had it much longer..  It is double sided by Craft n Crafting'.  I added a bg of a bird folder by the Paper Studio, and a tiny punched bird - headed for  home!   Shiny gems complete the card.

New stuff

I am asking for ideas - reactions - opinions.  I just received an order through Create and Craft, a new tv series of infomercials - several hours a day - on satellite tv, etc., as well as on line.  One of the items I ordered was a set including tons of card fronts, inserts with verses, die cuts, etc.  Has any one else seen these or used them?  I will have enough for hundreds of cards - I know I will tire of them before I get to the end - but there are lots of possibilities.  I think I will have a chance to make easy cards for a lot of veterans!  This is from a packet called Lovely in lace.  The floral panel is pinched from the lacy border - though I trimmed a sliver in order to show the burgundy bg for contrast.  Added_  Cheery Lynn hummingbirds, and a sentiment by Elizabeth. I added glitter on the floral centers as well as the eyes of the birds.   I used a leafy embossing folder by Sizzix for the card base which is burgundy shimmery cs.  I used one of the birthday sentiment sheets from my new pack - cut 5.5 x 11, folded and attached to create a double layer on the inside of the card.

Get well, Ervin

DH's twin brother has been in the hospital again, pneumonia this time.  At his age, there are always concerns.  Your prayers would be welcome.  Fortunately, he should be able to go home today - still not too late to send get well wishes.

Get Well, Margaret

It seems like I have a lit of family get well cards recently.  This is for a sister-in-law (see previous post).  I fussy cut this digital image from Dearie Dolls - if you like digis, check out all the freebies on her web site.  In keeping with the Cupcake inspiration, I used lots of white and pastel chalk pencils.  The blue is a metallic cs.  The sentiment is Cuttlebug.  The image is new to me, and the supplies/tools have been in my possession for a few years.  EDIT - the black is for image contrast only - not a card layer.

Another blue Christmas

We have had a fun couple of days visiting with our oldest grandson, his new wife, and his younger brother.  It is the first time they have visited us in our AZ home.  Now back to crafting!  I really simplified this layout - added LifeStyle crafts die cuts for the corner pieces, and some ivory half pearls in the corners.  I need a different embossing folder for Christmas - here are the snowflakes again!

Christmas 2014 - Eggplant and Ivory

If you read a previous post you know that I just ordered a whole pack (50 sheets) of eggplant cs. It is not quite as dark as I had anticipated, and has a shiny finish.  I will be using it a lot, but maybe in smaller bits.  It is white on one side, and goes through my printer, so I can use it for the card base, which I did here.  In order to use this image on a circle I did crop the two "ends" of the image, then masked and added more of the distant stars to the sky.  The bg is Cuttlebug's snowflake, and the punch is Martha Stewart.  The image is Stampendous.
These are the challenges met by this card:

Spencer's BD

This is a companion card for one I posted a couple of days ago.  I did not realize what a terrible image I have - but it is already in the mail so not much I can do!  This is a reminder of his recent honeymoon trip to Italy,  I used a DCWV  heirloom DP featuring a world map.  I cut the piece so that the "boot" of Italy is in the lower right corner.  If you squint a bit you might just be able to see it!  The stamp is SU Provencal - an oldie that I still like a lot - just not many occasions to use it. The arrow is a Basic Grey acrilic sticker, and the Grandson is a Dazzle sticker.  It all has kind of an old fashioned look.

Thank you, Pastor

Our winter Bible Study series is drawing to a close, and this card is to thank the retired pastor who has been sharing his knowledge with us by leading the study.  As soon as I saw the sketch I knew it would work for a masculine card.  The use of the word "teach" in this verse from Word Art (last August?) makes it a perfect choice.  The DP (once again) does not show up, but it has the words of Psalm 23.  It is from a pack by Paper Studio.  I added some shiny cord and a Thank You from the 7Gypsies library stamp. All of these items are from my old stash!

Green, white and a doily

Supplies:  Snowflake EF (I think it also looks like a Starburst); Verve stamp, doily, Cheery Lynn dragonfly, flowers.  Technique:  Dry embossing, masking, die cuts. The pale green cs, flowers, doily and embossing folder have been in my stash for several years.  My favorite textures are dry embossing and die cuts - I like the versatility and ease of use - plus the look they give to my cards.

Owly Aniversary

We have had a house guest for a couple of weeks - and  other guests for meals - now I am trying to get caught up on many challenges!  I am so used to having only two of us for meals, laundry, etc!
Supplies:  Sizzix EF - it is actually a Halloween scene, but the circle layer covered the pumpkins nicely LOL! ; Beccy's digital image; Library stamp by 7 Gypsies; Washi tape; chalk pencils; Kraft, black, beige cs. I sometimes want a more masculine looking anniversary card, and I think this image works for that.

Vanishing pearls

There really are pearls here - 4 on the circle and one in the flower.  I also used lilac to complete the middle column of the tic tac toe challenge.  The DP has been in my stash for a LONG time.  I added embossed strips and a bow.  The image is Fluffles enjoying a summer day in the sun.
