SCS Dare to Get Dirty - Margs

I am way behind - need to have to 35 cards done by Wed., if I want to do them all!  I am about half way...
This uses watercolor pencils for a wash for the background.  The stamp is Stampabilities, and the sentiment from a $ bin.

SCS DTGD - Smilyn Stef

Supplies:  Cuttlebug Embossing folder, chalk, Washi Tape, $1 stamp.  CAS cards - especially with one paper layer only - are most definitely a challenge for me!

This is a quick card to send to a couple from our church - they are both experiencing health problems. Cuttlebug die cut, Darice butterfly embossing folder.  This is a kind of out of the box sketch for me!

Stencilled CAS for challenge #226 at QKR Stampede

:
This is my card for DT inspiration at the weekly challenge at QKR Stampede - CAS (clean and simple).  Check out the examples by the rest of the design team members, and join us for a chance to win QKR digital images - there are so many cute ones, as well as sentiments.  You may enter up to 3 times before 6 p.m. EST on Thursday.  The new QKR image I chose is Floating Away.  It is colored with Prismas, and fussy cut to adhere to the card.  I used a die cut for the sentiment.
If you have seen a few of my entries you probably realize that CAS is not my usual style - in fact, it is a technique I find a bit intimidating.  I seem to have this need to fill that blank space!  Using this stencil took care of that need. I tried something new (to me) by using various shades of black chalk to stencil in the border. I have had both chalk and stencil for a long time, but don't often use them.
Hope to see you at QKR stampede!

DTGD - Cathy's challenge

You may know that I do not do many CAS cards, but this did seem to work for me.  The sentiment is by Cuttlebug, and the butterflies by CC Designs.  I cut them from some scraps of "splattered" cs.  This was posted in my SCS gallery on 8-8.

Eureka Challenge #182 - CAS

Here is my design team card for Eureka Stamps challenge #182, which is open through Sunday, March 6.
I will be the first to admit that CAS cards are not my first choice - I really like CAS cards done by others, but struggle with my own - I tend to want to fill up all that space, or add embellishments.  However, this cute Digi by Eureka Stamps - Cool Cat with Shades - worked well for me.  I edged the image layer with a bit of ColorBox Marigold ink.  (Tip - I did not tear the edges of that layer.  I did use my trimmer with a very dull blade I keep for that purpose - it is dull enough to give what I call a controlled ragged edge!)  The ink was applied directly from the mini ink pad, to add a hint of color and some dimension.  Another tip - the sentiment is also a digi by Eureka.  I printed it separately, hand cut it in a bubble shape, and photo copied it unto the cool cat image.  This process left a look of an edge around the sentiment - which I enhanced a bit using a grey chalk pencil.  It looks like a layer but is not.  I used a metallic pen to draw the line to "attach" the bubble, and also to add some specks to the background.  The cat was colored by mixing orange and beige chalk pencils. Thanks for looking.

Practicing CAS

I still struggle with CAS cards, and will readily admit that this is an attempt for me to improve in that style.  I wanted to see if I could use my Cuttlebug embossing frame and I think it works.  My computer skills (especially relating to graphics) are also lacking - I have not been able to figure out if I have a program that will allow me to reposition the digital image.  I printed this in a 4x6 layout and it is satisfactory.   I edged the layer with ColorBox Marigold ink.  The image itself is colored with chalk pencils and glittery metallic markers.  For the larger leaves I colored first with a regular green marker, and over colored with the glittery marker - this looks nice and sparkly IRL.

An Elegant Dog

This dog, from the Rubber Cafe, looks like he (she?) is posing for a formal portrait!  I scored lines at the top of the card to form a border to balance with the die cut border and Cheery Lynn flowers at the bottom.

Thank you, Kevin

This card is a thank you for the technology instructor at our local library.  I have taken many classes and also received answers to a number of questions - all at no charge to library patrons.  We are enclosing a small gift card for him.
I do not do well with CAS, but I saw the following CAS challenges and decided to try.  (The black mat is only for  contrast for the photo.)  I left the cream base totally plain - gasp!!!  The image is from my file - unfortunately I neglected to add much of a label, but I think it might be clip art.  The Cuttlebug sentiment, chalking and twine complete the look.  The chalk, twine and the die have been in my supplies for a long time.

CAS

OK, I a not addicted to CAS - it is a difficult style for me, but I will keep trying!  The CS is textured Coordinations, and the main image aa neglected one from Memory Box.  The others are SU - also neglected!  I added a bit of Washi tape and a luxurious  flower.

CAS Christmas

I really struggle with CAS, and then - NO embellishents!  I used the snowflake embossing folder on the green bg layer -it just does not show up!  The sentiment is from a cube - no maker listed.

Teacher Thanks

CAS is always a stretch for me, but I try!  This has another feature I do not do well.  I wanted to use the apples from a piece of DP -  I did cut them and "hung" the apples on a twine branch.  There is a tiny bird resting on the branch - possibly waiting for a chance to take a bite of the apple.  (I just got a few of these birds in the mail today, from a friend at Wish RAK, on Splitcoaststampers.  Thank you, Jen.)  The tag and sentiment are Just Rite Fancy Tags, and are popped up on pop dots.  The bg is embossed with a Sizzix Tim Holtz EF - a tree trunk.  This would be a thank you for a teacher.

Thank You #2 - and casing myself

I seldom make duplicate cards, but this is sort of a case of one I did a while back - but changed the color and embellishments.  The stamp is SU (Designer Greetings).  I used two chip board pieces from a Basic Grey collection - not sure the swirl is a flower stem but that is my interpretation!

Simple Masculine card

Sometimes I just need a simple card - especially for a guy! And, YEAH, I made it before time to leave for a neighborhood picnic!  I got one card done before church, and this one after - busy morning!   This striped DP is by Colorbok; SU Close to Cocoa CS, tape from Recollections  I am not sure of the source of the stamp.

CAS Sympathy

I hope you can see this.  I usually run from CAS designs, but when I saw the photo challenge here:
http://dianamlarson.blogspot.com/2012/11/dlart-thankful-thursday-challenge_15.html ,  I was immediately inspired to use this embossed piece.  Because it is large, there is not much space for anything else on an A2 card.  I used my sister in law's folder, and added a sentiment from Paper Inspirations.  The Nestie is Labels4, and I added sheer white ribbon I get at Dollar Tree.  It does not show up well, but the main panel and tag are pale lavender, and the mat is purple.

Two sympathy cards

This is another image I got at creatwithtlc.com   I think it works well for CAS cards - which I rarely do as they are pretty much out of my comfort zone.  For the first one, I used a dark grey backing and corner punch - but do not like it as well.
The second is my re-do for this challenge:  http://marksfinestpapers.blogspot.com/
I used a dark teal and shades of grey for the two colors.  Ribbon, rhinestones, and glitter on the flowers are the three embellishments - and this time I did limit myself to one layer!  I used a pastel chalk pencil for coloring, and an embossed frame from Cuttlebug.

CAS Sympathy

Over at Splitcoaststampers, today's Featured Stamper is Albongo.  She has lots of lovely CAS cards, and I was inspired to try one.  I am not at all satisfied with my choice of materials, so when I have more time I will try again.  If you are interested, here is her gallery:

I used a Cuttlebug border embossing folder, and a favorite stamp by Paper Inspirations.
It fits the CAS challenge here: http://thepinkelephantchallenge.blogspot.com/
