Fishing

A recent big favorite of mine is shimmery cs - I bought a package of light silver and champagne, and you can see that many of my recent cards make use of it - especially for dry embossing.  I used a Sizzix Halloween scene folder for the bg - I am sure there is a way to keep the pumpkin from embossing, but I have not done that.  (I covered a couple more with the little scene).  I wanted the tree to show - maybe the little pumpkins will not be too noticeable!  Any hints?  The image is from the Art Impressions pop up series.  I recolored/enhanced some of the pre colored parts.  I used a brad to attach the cord with the sign - for movement.
Recipe:  1 embossing folder; 2 die cuts and 2 images (including sentiment); 3 colors for layering.

Garden statue and gate

Once again, I encourage your help and suggestions.  I recently won the Garden Gate and Statue dies (by Marianne) - from Creative Card Crew.  I will be trying different things to place behind the gate!  This is an old stamp by Endless creations.  I added some leaves from a Sizzix die - using black to stay with the kraft and black theme.  I placed the Our Daily Bread sentiment on a punched border.  I aged the statue with a bit of black sponging.  Oh, yes, I cut an extra outer panel of the gate, spit it in half, and extended the fence on either side in this way.  Since I decided to add the statue I really did not need to do that.

Quick card

The card was quick - after I spent over 10 minutes trying to find the right color cs!  This is a Cuttlebug embossing folder - with the flowers lightly chalked.  For some reason I ordered several sheets of stickers I rarely used and thought this might work here (EKSuccess).  The butterfly is from a promotional sheet - this winter we have received enough return address stickers, other stickers and notepads - from charities- that could last several life times!

Spring yellow

A friend needs to send a card for an 80th birthday.  If she likes this one, I will add gold stickers for 80.
Supplies:  Hampton Art stamp, embossalicious HB folder (I chalked the Happy Birthday); Spellbinder circle dies; unknown gold border sticker; unknown DP; mat - Emerald metallic cs from Classy Cards 'n Such.  I used Twinkling H20's to color.  Classy Cards 'n Such also has a nice assortment of Twinkling H20 sets.  I really like the sparkle - especially this gold.

Shaped card

Several months ago my sister sent me a large box of card making supplies - given to her by a friend.  I have not had a chance to even touch the surface of what was in that box!  There was a packet containing several matching pieces, including pre cut circle cards.  Too bad - there was no manufacturer given, so I have no idea of the origin.  The colors are lovely.  There are several of these two-sided circles, and several pieces that look like stands - in peach.  Problem is, I am not sure how they go together!  All the pieces except the Day for Daisies flower, the ribbon, gems and sequins were in the kit.  Does any one recognize this?
I fussy cut the image - not my usual style, but I think it worked. BTW, the strip is a glittery piece.

Naomi - wishes for a speedy recovery

I just heard about Naomi's surgery, so I needed a quick card.  I used pieces from the Kanban kit I ordered from Create and Craft.  The umbrella is on cs - all I did was use a die cut circle for the shape I wanted.  The lacy strip and bg are from the same kit.  I added ribbon, scalloped Spellbinder die cuts and a sentiment from 7Gypsies.  I do not know the color of the bg for the umbrella, and for the mats - kind of a dark teal with a brownish cast.

Vintage hummingbirds

This is a pre-colored image from TLC.  I really like the soft, vintage look.  I used emerald metallicr cs from Classy Cards embossed with Victoria (cuttlebug).  The die cut bird is Cheery Lynn, and I used pale green lace obtained at a yard sale.  I do need to find a better way to make it stay flat, however.

For Evelyn's 85th - shiny Spring butterflies

A friend from church is celebrating her birthday this week end, and I hope I have made a special card for such a special occasion.  For the YNS sketch I flipped and rotated the elements, but I think it is true enough to the original. The die cut is Floral Panel by Tattered Lace; the butterfly embossing by Darice; Swiss Dots by Cuttlebug, and there is a bit from the Embossibilities birthday folder.  The butterfly is part of a favorite SU set, Ageless Adornment.  To get the color I wanted I mixed 3 of Twinkling H20 blues.  The cream cs is Recollections champagne shimmer, and the blue is from a DCWV metallic pad (part of my long term stash!!)

Mixed dies for Deb

I have been wanting to experiment with this new die set from Couture Creations - the Mariposa Collection.  The border at the left is cut from the shimmery burgundy layer.  The butterfly and small branch are also part of the set.  Birthday is from a Sizzix Happy Birthday die, and Blessings is by Cheery Lynn.  All of these are cut from silver shimmer cs (Recollections).  I added white half pearls (Pizzazz Aplenty).  Oh, yes, I added a second layer for the butterfly - in champagne, offset slightly.  If anyone has seen tutorials for using these dies please let me know!   This is for our daughter - her birthday is later this week.  She will be visiting, along with our son-in-law and granddaughter.

Couture Maricopa prototype

This opens in the middle - gate fold.
(The white base is not visible).   I recently ordered a die set from Couture Creations, called Mariposa.  This set is designed to be used as the closure on gate fold cards - but now I need directions as I cannot quite figure out how to put them together.  I ultimately used the smaller butterfly with small glue dots to hold the two sides together.  The base is a dark burgundy shimmery cs.

Spring green

Sorry - on my screen this is far from the right color - IRL it is various shades of green - generally dark and light sage green.  The sticky strip is gold and white stripes.  The main section is from Lovely in Lace by Kanban - pre cut dies cuts and bg patterns.  The ribbon is light sage green.

New stuff

I am asking for ideas - reactions - opinions.  I just received an order through Create and Craft, a new tv series of infomercials - several hours a day - on satellite tv, etc., as well as on line.  One of the items I ordered was a set including tons of card fronts, inserts with verses, die cuts, etc.  Has any one else seen these or used them?  I will have enough for hundreds of cards - I know I will tire of them before I get to the end - but there are lots of possibilities.  I think I will have a chance to make easy cards for a lot of veterans!  This is from a packet called Lovely in lace.  The floral panel is pinched from the lacy border - though I trimmed a sliver in order to show the burgundy bg for contrast.  Added_  Cheery Lynn hummingbirds, and a sentiment by Elizabeth. I added glitter on the floral centers as well as the eyes of the birds.   I used a leafy embossing folder by Sizzix for the card base which is burgundy shimmery cs.  I used one of the birthday sentiment sheets from my new pack - cut 5.5 x 11, folded and attached to create a double layer on the inside of the card.

Citrus colors

Time for a change from all the reds and pinks!  This is a piece of DP (DaisyD's) that I have had for quite a while,  I used lime cs, ribbon and Washi tape, and pale lemon for stamping.  The image is from the fairly old SU set Garden Collage (a favorite of mine).  I made kind of a wash with water color pencils and an aqua pen to highlight the flower and butterfly.

Get Well, Margaret

It seems like I have a lit of family get well cards recently.  This is for a sister-in-law (see previous post).  I fussy cut this digital image from Dearie Dolls - if you like digis, check out all the freebies on her web site.  In keeping with the Cupcake inspiration, I used lots of white and pastel chalk pencils.  The blue is a metallic cs.  The sentiment is Cuttlebug.  The image is new to me, and the supplies/tools have been in my possession for a few years.  EDIT - the black is for image contrast only - not a card layer.

Thank you in the new year

Happy New Year!  May 2015 be filled with blessings for you.  This is also a thank you to everyone who designs, supervises, comments, creates - and more - to keep the blog challenges going!
The actual card will go to my sister-in-law.  She will be having shoulder replacement surgery next week - several months ago had back surgery that really did not work well, so it is not easy for her.  Your prayers would be appreciated.  I know she appreciates my cards, so I enjoy making them for her.
I am going to try some new things, but also use some of my supplies that have been gathering dust!  For the color challenge (teal, dusty blue, navy, white)  Jo at Trimgym (See C.R.A.F.T. below) created several bg papers - they were freebies and much appreciated.  I used two of them on this card.  I also used a Hampton Art stamp, with a 7Gypsies library sentiment, and some ribbon I have had for a few years. I added glitter to the stamped flower (SU Night of Navy ink.)
