Christmas 2019 C is for Camel

One more card ready - lots to go.  I could also say c is for computer - creating the sentiment.  This is a line from another favorite Carol - Joy to the World.  As I mentioned in an earlier post, hubby and I send cards that contain a message honoring the birth of the Savior.

K is for King - Christmas 2019

Here are more papers from my new pad - by Craftsmart.  The Hope & Faith collection features many lines from traditional carols.  The challenge is to make the pieces work with sketch challenges!  This navy and gold is a personal favorite.  Why did I chose this verse from Hark the Herald Angels Sing?  Hubby and I always want to share the meaning of the first Christmas when we send cards

Sept. 23 QKR Stampede challenge - embossing with glitter and sparkle

When I saw the theme for this week's challenge (embossing) at QKR Stampede, I thought about this snowflake folder for a wintry card.  QKR has this great digital image, "Snowy Cabin",  as well as the let it snow sentiment.  Since we are in AZ, I could use it to rub it in to some one in snow country.
I did not color the image, but used a lot of glitter on the trees and the snow - on the image and on the embossed snowflakes.
Cuttlebug Snowflake embossing folder;  glitter, metallic silver strip, Floral Garden Diamond ribbon wrap; glittery snowflake button..  The mats look black here but IRL they are dark blue.  I especially like the crisp look of the white and blue.

For my sister

The "sister" and floral embossing folder is by Tattered Lace; hearts by Darice.  The embossed cs is shimmery silver by Recollection.  I added a small strip of Washi tape, and highlighted the main panel with light teal chalk.  My favorite embossing is dry embossing - I have a lot of folders so I can achieve variety!  I like the dimension and ease of use - a stroll through my gallery will support this claim!

DT card for Eureka challenge #184

This is the card I made for the Design Team Inspiration at the Eureka challenge #184 - anything goes.  Such an easy challenge to enter - I hope you will join us this week.  I used the Eureka image "clover" and sentiment "May the road...".  It is a fun image to work with - easy to color, and it comes with its own sprinkles! I colored with Prismas and baby oil.  Oh, yes, there is another shamrock and longer stems - covered by the sentiment.  It is hard for me to leave blank space, so I added 3 light green gems, and embossed a corner with a Cuttlebug corner embossing folder.  Dry embossing is my favorite - so easy to use, and I like the resulting texture.

Christmas 2015 - last of series

You may have seen this before - this is the last of a series of 8 cards using this color combination and image (RAK).  The bg is embossed, and I added a computer sentiment.  I managed to find different sketch challenges for most of them - not easy with a large image!  The cards are all 5x7, rather than my usual A2 size - so it made a serious dent in the dark green and shimmery silver cs I used   I hope the grandkids (all young adults) - and kids, too - like them.  What is my favorite Christmas color?  Frankly, it probably changes with the year or situation, but this year I have used mostly green with cream or silver shimmery cs.  I like reds, blues, and golds, but green for me is especially classy and crisp looking in combination with the cream or silver.

Christmas 2015 #27

This was a very hard sketch for me - perhaps more so because I was using it for a Christmas card, and did not want too busy a look.  The DP is Paper Pizzazz, with a blue that has a purple tinge to it.   I punched the snowflakes, and used a Cheery Lynn branch die for the finishing touch - as well as a few sequins that could be considered antiques!  The stamp is Rubber Stampede.  The Christmas season is a favorite - first of all, Joy in celebrating the birth of Christ; then the Joy in family, decorations, being in touch with old friends through cards - and so much more.  This card is 4.5 x 4.5.  (Sorry for the strange layout - the appearance in "edit" is quite different from the final result.)

Christmas 2015 #27

Stamp - Ann-ticipation; Blessings - computer; DP - Paper Pizazz; brand new white cs; green cs and ribbon.   Christmas is a favorite season - knowing we celebrate the birth of the Christ child - and I certainly like the family gatherings, the lights, food, music - everything!

Far outside of my comfort zone

I pretty much avoid CAS cards- but I saw the challenge to case VIcki Dutchr, and I wanted to try.  This is a very old cuttlebug embossing folder - which I colored with Twinkling H20's/  I think that they are my favorite coloring medium - though I do not use them very often - probably because my color selection is not that great.  (I use an aqua brush.)  I have at least 4 different shades of blues and aquas as well as Forest green for the stems and leaves.  (The blotches are not present IRL - LOL!)  I added tiny black crystals for the flower centers, and the stencil is Tim Holz.  The Blessings die (Cheery Lynn, available at Joan's Garden) is my new favoarite die.  I like it because it is a simple way to express this sentiment - and useful for such a variety of occasions;  I also like that it is available in two sizes - and positionable in a way that a stamped sentiment may not work.

happy birthday in peach and grey

I just discovered a new favorite color combination!  (How many favorites am I allowed???)  This is peach and grey - inspired by the bg paper whose name I forget.  The bg is embossed with a "vine" folder by Sizzix.  I used some chalk for a bg on the image panel.  It uses a favorite die - Labels 4.  Another favorite, for its terrific versatility, is the Pine branch die from Cheery Lynn.  Here, I just used tiny parts of the branches - I did not want to cover any more of the DP!  (The branches are in all 4 corners of the panel.)  To complete the sketch, I used sheer ribbon across the center, topped with narrow peach ribbon.  I hope you like this as well as I do!  The inside verse states:  God bless you always with His special love.

Monochromatic Sympathy with vellum

I will take this to our Bible Study this week for members to sign - a member of the class succumbed to cancer  a few days ago.  This will go to his wife and family.  It is 4.5x6.5.
Supplies:  vellum (overlay for butterflies and branches); Cheery Lynn dies, CB Victoria embossing folder, SU Natural Beauty image, Prismas, ribbon; medium and light sage DP; half pearls.  My color choices were dictated by the envelope I had on hand for this size card!  Embossing folders and die cuts are my go to ways to add texture - easy and versatile.

Spring Thank You

(First of all, the grey shadow at the left is not a part of the card!)
This design is a bit out of the ordinary for me - I seldom cut more than a bit that might go over the edge of a Nestie, for example.  Here I kept cutting a little more - until most of the top half is cut out.  The image is Country Garden, by High Hopes.  The sentiment is from Stampin Up Circle of Friendship.  However, I did not want to display the center words (over and over again) as that did not fit the occasion - so I inked it in and put on a tiny butterfly.  The ribbon, embossing folder, stamp and teal cs have been in my stash for at least a year.  On the other hand, the DP and sentiment are new to me.  I also used Prismas I have had for a few years.  The Mojo sketch has been modified a bit - I seem to have left off a layer behind the image  I like the texture created with embossing folders and die cuts - there are so many possibilities, and the look (and feel) is easy to create.

Green, white and a doily

Supplies:  Snowflake EF (I think it also looks like a Starburst); Verve stamp, doily, Cheery Lynn dragonfly, flowers.  Technique:  Dry embossing, masking, die cuts. The pale green cs, flowers, doily and embossing folder have been in my stash for several years.  My favorite textures are dry embossing and die cuts - I like the versatility and ease of use - plus the look they give to my cards.

Nostalgic digi

First of all...IRL she has a much better skin tone!  Certainly, not grey and blotchy LOL!!!  This is an image that I got from A Day for Daisies some time ago - THANK YOU SO MUCH!  She is colored with Prismas.  Other supplies:  K&Company DP, some old lace, washi tape, Nesties, and a sentiment from American Crafts.  I have so many favorite colors, but shades of burgundy are at the top of the list - I just like the richness of the color - especially with turquoise.
