Today marks the beginning of a new weekly challenge at QKR Stampede. Take a look at the challenge blog to see what all the DT members have created to inspire you, and join us for the chance to win some images. You can win with any image or with QKR/Eureka images, and you are allowed 3 entries. The deadline is Thursday at 4 p.m. EDT.
The digital image I selected this week is Checkered Cow. What a fun sentiment to go with it! The borders are stickers from Hot off the Press. I added some flowers and die cut buttons with twine.

QKR Guest Designer - Paper Piecing #197
Today I changed hats, and will join the QKR design team for a few weeks. This week the challenge at QKR Stampede is Paper Piecing. You may enter as many as 3 times, and you have a chance to win 2 digital images - the prize is 3 images if you use a QKR image.
I have been wanting to use this cute image for a while, and I think it worked well to paper piece the cactus and also the lazy turtle. (I think he is trying to keep cool in our 110+ temps in AZ!) This Relaxin Turtle is by QKR, and the sentiment is Eureka. I used the same pattern paper for the Spellbinder border style die cuts, and backed it with black. The sun is from a Cuttlebug Die. I used scraps for all the paper piecing and the strips. The image is new to me; all the papers are old, including the blue sky.
CHALLENGES ENTERED:
Sketch: Stella Says Sketch
Layer it up: One Stitch at a Time
Corrosive Challenges
Bingo - column 3: Get Creative
Stuck on you (cactus): Dragonfly Journey
Pattern Paper: Simon Says Stamp - Monday
Bring on Summer: Cute Daisy
Summer: Starstampz
Old, new and blue: Pile it on
Animal: C.R.A.F.T.
Scraps: Paper Girls
Any: Lil Patch of Crafty Friends

Oranges
Sorry for this photo - I use a scanner and today it would not cooperate. I am amazed at the different results - I am sure I am using the same procedure! Technology is definitely not my forte!
I used this digi from The Alley Way Stamps - colored with an orange Spica pen and Prismas.. I used lots of items from my stash - this DP was a part of one of the first Stacks I purchased. The glittery buttons (American Crafts) have also been around a long time. The twine is AMuse - I like this or a more masculine look. I used the Argyle EF and Recollection tape to give the impression of walkways.

For Maci, a special 8 year old
parade last November. (See the Graphicat link for more details and how to get the address if you want to send a belated card.)
I used this House Mouse image - what 8 year old does not want to play dress up? The sentiment is part of a freebie from Graphicat. I cut bits of Debbie Mumm DP - another case of DP I really like that is quite difficult to use. I chose springy colors, including the purple bg. The card is 4.5x6, and there will be a birthday sentiment inside.

Thank You #3
I have not used this Cuttlebug EF for a while - I should dust it off more often. I chalked with a sponge, and added some tape and a sentiment from Recollections.

Swirls, pearls and lace
This adorable digi is from A Day with Daisies. I colored with several shades of aqua, with a touch of deep red and glittery platinum. The sentiment is from Recollections, and the swirly frame is LifeStyle Crafts.

Some shabby chic
I used Ranger Tattered Rose distress ink and some Costco DP to give a shabby look. The embossing is from a CB border set; the butterfly is Cheery Lynn, and the twine from AMuse.

This is a great Fluffles (Stampendous) image to use for a Thinking of You card. The bg DP is DCWV, and the oval is from AMuse. FLowers are by Petaloo - with rhinestones and a bit of glitter.

God is our Refuge
We have friends who are seriously ill and in need of support- how difficult it is to make the cards.
The scripture is a digital image. I used my CB frame folder, added ribbon, Petaloo flowers, and a Cheery Lynn butterfly. Everything but the butterfly is from my stash - the cs, ribbon, flowers, and EF have been around a long time!

On eagle's wings
My brother in law is coming to stay for a few days. When he was here last year he purchased all of my sympathy cards - he lives in a very small town, and was glad to be able to have some cards that were not just like all of the others. So I am trying to be prepared! Unfortunately, we are of an age where the need comes all too often. A friend who no longer stamps gave me these images. I used an EK Success punch for the border, and used the punched circles in the corner.

Sparkly shabby vintage
Time for a more serious birthday card! There is more sparkle IRL - glitter, pink (yes, they are pink) rhinestones, and a shimmery ribbon. The butterflies are from Cheery Lynn dies, and the sentiment is from a Recollections set. I think the DP (unknown, from my stash) looks vintage, and I distressed the edges a bit.

Masculine Birthday
I need to add some masculine cards to my stash. This image by Rubber Cafe is one I like a lot. The sentiment is the library stamp from 7Gypsies. Dp is Paper Pizazz, and the twine from PizzazzAplenty. I used a button die - I struggle to find "embellishments" for the guys!\

Another birthday
I really enjoy doing humorous cards. This is a Penny Black image, colored with chalk crayons. The red stripe is the inside of a recycled advertising envelope. More recycling - I stamped the image on the back of another advertising card. I might even say the ribbon is recycled - I got a dozen or so rolls for about $1 at a garage sale!

Die cut butterflies
For the card full of butterflies I used AMuse papers I was lucky enough to win a few weeks ago - this is a gorgeous palette (Venetian), I used lido and titian. The butterflies and circles are Spellbinder die cuts - cut and embossed. I had all the "holes" from the center butterfly still floating around on my desk, and I decided to add them along the top and bottom - kind of like the look. I used a strip of ribbon but ended up hiding most of it.

Baby Girl Congrats
Yesterday I completed a card for a boy, and I decided to add a companion baby girl card to my inventory. I used the same Debbie Mumm papers, but in pink. I cut apart the letters to add to the banner (for the sketch). I usually forget to add glitter, but I did Stickle the letters and the button brads. Ribbon and tiny pink crystals complete the card.

Mother's Day - for a kitty afficianado
Whew! I have really been running behind this week, but I think I made it to complete some of my favorite challenges.
I used a Penny Black image from Purrfect Day, and a JustRite Happy Everything greeting. I used pastel chalk crayons, and tried smoothing the color with brush coloring tools. If any of you have a better solution, I would be glad to hear it. The DP is from a Big Lots pack, and the shiny ribbon is Texture Bobbin brand. I added glitter and Recollections rhinestones for more bling.
