Happy Birthday, Terry

  QKR Stampede DT card

Challenge #303 - Anything Goes

This card is already in the mail - our son-im-law's birthday is Saturday.  He loves to grill and does a good job - this image suits him so well!  The always Anything Goes challenge at QKR Stampede runs from Friday morning through Thursday at 6 p.m. EDT.  You may enter as many as 3 times.  There is a winner for using an image from the QKR shop, and another winner for others.  We look forward to seeing your great creations!
The image is called BBQ Grilling - image and sentiment are both from the QKR Stampede shop.  I had some fun gingham DP from Paper Pizzazz, and an extra 3-D ant sticker to use. The backing is the Cuttlebug HB folder. and I added a couple of strips of Washi tape.

Confirmation Blessings to Brittany

This is another of a series of cards I am making to send to recent confirmands at our church.  For these 9th graders this is a major milestone in their faith journey.  I want to recognize this and encourage them with a card.  This image is from Sweet 'n' Sassy, and the die from cheery Lynn.   The background DP is from a pad by Paper Studio called Faith.

Shaped card for QKR Stampede challenge #257

This week the challenge at QKR Stampede has the option to create a shaped card - no squares or rectangles.  When I saw this image at the QKR store, I thought of making an ornament - something I rarely do.  Actually, this could be used as a card, creating an ornament for the recipient.   We would be pleased if you would join our challenge.  You are eligible to win digis by entering up to 3 times before 6 p.m. Thursday Aug. 24.  The challenge is always anything goes with an optional theme.
The image is QKR Stampede's Mary and Joseph Circle Stamp by Eureka (sister company of QKR).  If you cannot read the verse, it begins:  Joseph went up from Galilee...
I used a couple of the circles from Spellbinders Majestic Elements for the outside circles.
In retrospect, I would do a bit more to visually separate the layers,  I used white, burgundy and black cs, and a bit of gold paper recycled from a gift bag. I added some glitter to the star and the outer black circle.  The "hanger" is cut using a die from Spellbinder's Banner Basics Three.  I cut it twice from the gift bag paper, and again from cs.  I glued this sandwich together, gluing the lower portion on either side of the ornament, and added a gold cord bow.

Soar up up and away - and back down again

This is my card for this week's Design Team samples at QKR Stampede.  The theme is Up up and away.  You may enter up to 3 times and you have a chance to win images from the QKR digi store.
As is often the case, I have a story behind this card.  If you have seen previous cards you may recall we have a granddaughter who is beginning her second year at the US Air Force Academy.  She recently completed her requirement to earn her military freefall wings.  Even their first jump is a solo.  So of course the sentiment is not quite accurate - she was certainly not sitting! ( But I could not resist.)    Reading her description - it must be a magical experience.
Recipe:  Parachuting birdie image and sentiment - QKR digis; DP by Sugartree; twine:  Washi tape; Prismas; chalk; star sequins;  Cheery Lynn cloud die cuts;  Spellbinder label dies;  glitter on clouds and goggles

Sunny Greetings

This card will go to the weekly RAK recipient of the TeaPot Tuesday challenge at SplitcoastStampers (Teapot-Tuesdays).  This is challenge #406.  I have been around since #1, though I regret that the past little while I have not always made the party!  This time our cards go to Polly, age 72,  who was injured when her car was struck head on by a speeding motorist.  Polly has many, many broken bones and faces multiple surgeries and of course a long rehab.  You are most welcome to join the party and send a card - you do not have to be a member of SplitCoast or of the tea party group.  If you need help with her address, let me know in a comment.
Polly taught piano, so music is one of the suggested themes.  This image stamp is Our Daily Bread and the sentiment is DRS.   The papers are from my stash,  Punch by Martha Steward; sun die from Cuttlebug Olivia set; swirls by Cuttlebug.

Christmas 2015 #36 - starry

What an adventure ach time I enter two photos here.  I cannot seem to figure out how to do the layout.  Oh, well - variety adds interest, right?
Stamp by Stampabilities; sentiment by Stampourri; dies - Nestabilities.  The blue cs and shiny star cs are new and all the rest (ribbon star, dp) have been around quite a while. (I hope you can see the stars on the larger bg paper.)

Thanksgiving 2015

My inbox is filling up with Black Friday previews, a sure sign that Thanksgiving is approaching - I prefer to concentrate on gratitude for the blessings that fill our lives
.I used a part of the Sizzix embossing folder, and highlighted with chalk.  The papers from from a DCWV stack - the larger panel includes leaves.  The tab is a bit of Washi tape.

Little squares

Outside the box again...  Hooray!  I actually used up a few of my scraps - I did not make anything new for these squares.  I am not so good at being a perfectionist, so I distressed the edges - that look is a bit more forgiving if the edges do not line up just right.  I highlighted the birthday with a bit of glue and powdered chalk.  The Blessings is a favorite (so versatile) from Cheery Lynn.  The embossed pieces are from a number of folders.
