Deja Vu Vintage

This is very much like a card I just made - for two reasons.  First of all, I am using up the very limited supplies in our RV.  Also, I was showing the first card I made to my friend - another friend saw it, and said her mother would also be 90 in a few weeks - could I make the card for her as well.  This Recollection vintage scene, called Toile, is very much a favorite.  The other pieces are scraps.  It is hard to see, but all pieces are ivory and black.  The letters are CB Olivia dies,  I added ivory birds from another favorite - Cheery Lynn Little Wings, available at oan's Gardens shop..

Maude in green

Usually I am fairly happy with the results of my card  -  but this is one of the times I am not so pleased.  I tried a "legal sized" card to fit this image by Art Impressions.  Next time I will just try something a bit larger than A2.

Happy Birthday in Ivory and green

One of my all time favorite color combos is ivory with...  Here I selected green.  (I hope it looks more ivory and green on your screen than on mine!)   I used the Cuttlebug border die and Victoria EF.  The butterfly is Ronna Farrer, and the ink is also green.

Sympathy, purple and white

If you look through my blog, you will see that this style is one of my favorites, although I seldom seem to stamp with colored ink - though I have a good collection of inks!  This uses a Whiff of Joy sentiment and I think the border is Verve, cut and embossed with Nesties dies.  The punch is EK Success, and the vellum dove is from a Cheery Lynn set purchased at Joan's Gardens.  The bg is CB Swiss Dots.  Embossing and die cuts were done on my Cuttlebug.

Not the Nice Nurse

These digis are both from Bugaboo.  The wilting plant is such a fun touch!  The coloring is with Prismas, and I used some DP from my endless stash.  The paper tape is Martha Stewart; the flower is Petaloo.

Girl Friends with Flowers

These Art Impressions Girl Friend stamps are adorable - and So popular in my age group LOL!  They are colored with Prismas, and surrounded with dots, stripes, and Petaloo flowers.  I prefer to not endorse adult beverages, but this caption just went with the image!

A friend has asked for several cards with cats, and my deadline is approaching!  This is an image I have had in my "colored stash" for a while.  I think she is pretty cute and cuddly - and right for "Everybody wants to be a cat".  The dp is Paper Studio, flowers are Petaloo.  For mixed media I used the flowers and chalk on the dry embossing (You folder by CB - the line that says Fine, Fun, Fantastic).

A kitty for you

This image is a freebie is one of several I got a while ago from sliekjestamps.  Thank You!  I used a LifeStyle crafts EF - the cs I used split in several places while being cut - I went for the rustic look and adhered the split pieces!

Floral and acetate

Oh, to be more technical!  All of a sudden something happened to the settings on my scanner - I need to find someone to help create a "full" image.  Oh, well...
I hope you can see the results of my experiment - to meet challenges using an unusual item/recycling (acetate).  I used the same leafy embossing folder on the acetate - the result was a milky look on the embossed leaves.  I then placed it over the green layer in the same spot - except I should have had a larger piece as much of it is covered with the image.  The acetate was from some packaging, and there were lots of bumps and curves so the flat section was a bit small.  This is something I will do again - maybe with flower dies next time.  I used a bit of the CB birthday folder, and a Hampton Arts stamp, colored with chalk pencils.  I finally got to use the picket fence die I bought from Joan's Gardens.

Navy and White

I am not here often as we are in the RV and internet access is not good - at times uploading to my SCS gallery goes more smoothly, for some reason.
I used Nesties dies, a Sizzex EF, and a stamp by Hampton Art, using navy ink.  I added sheer ribbon and white metal brads.  I am not sure how much will show, but the white circles were the ultimate in recycling - I used some cs that had been unintentionally printed with a colored bg (pale blue).

Skinny Dipping - NOT

Both the image and sentiment came from friends at WishRAK on Splitcoaststampers, and I have lost track of the origin.  I think they go together well.  She is colored with Prismas, and has some REAL gold earrings and eyeglass frames.  I would have added diamonds to her earrings, but the ones I have seemed a bit too large LOL !  The ribbon, lace, and cuttlebug border die add some frills.  The lower panel is dry embossed with the CB folder D'Vine Swirls - an old standby for ocean waves.  The cloud DP is Debbie Mumm.

Some shabby chic

I used Ranger Tattered Rose distress ink and some Costco DP to give a shabby look.  The embossing is from a CB border set; the butterfly is Cheery Lynn, and the twine from AMuse.

Painted flower

I am always happy when ideas come together for combining several challenges.  I hope some of you will agree.
Recipe: 1) painted flower - I know I have a box of paints but I put them away for summer storage (!) and I cannot discover the location.  My only choice was the Copper acrylic paint - it worked here, I think.  I also used watered down paint for the shading.   2) lattice - I used a Lattice punch by Martha Stewart;  3) circle bg - Spellbinders eyelet circle;   4) inked embossing - I used the same copper paint - it did get a bit more blotchy than I liked but I wanted to match the image:  http://www.atjoansgardens.com/
Neglected stamp I like - well, that could be any of a large number, but I selected this SU Garden Collage - one I have had for some time, like a lot, but use sparingly - I make a lot of cards, but also have a lot of stamps - there just is not time to use them all!  http://simonsaysstampandshow.blogspot.com/
Sketch (stretched to an A2 size):  http://sundaysketchandstamp.blogspot.com/
Any, with sentiment:  http://cutedaisymay.blogspot.com/:
Chocolate (the lattice is chocolate in color, and the bg and ribbon are cocoa - I used the Cuttlebug for the embossed bg, the HB folder, and the die cuts): http://thecuttlebugspot.blogspot.com/
Other supplies:  Twinkling H20 green, copper; ribbon, LifeStyle Crafts ef; pop dots for cut and raised butterfly.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO ME, and one more card

WOW!  I just realized that I started this blog one year ago, February 10!  I started it in order to have a place to upload my cards - mostly for challenges.  I am surprised at myself - 390 cards here in addition to over 150 at my gallery on Splitcoaststampers - generally I do not upload to both locations.  I feel I have grown in my stamping  by following these challenges - even though I do regress on occasion!

This time, I think my brain is kind of non functioning!  I have been thinking about the Simon Says challenge for several days - base a card on a fairy tale.  Nothing comes to mind.  So I guess this is a real stretch - maybe satire?  I saw this digi image in my stash, and thought of Little Red Riding Hood and the big bad wolf!  Now, these cute ones do not fit that picture at all.  Oh, well...  I added a sentiment from a Recollections set, and some Basic Grey tape.  The DP is from a huge collection of double sided cs from Costco.

For a boy

This image is High Hopes; the sentiment TPC; coloring with Prismas.  The DP is Hopscotch by Basic Grey.  I added star brads, and used the snowflake Embossing folder (CB) - I often use the snowflakes to simulate starbursts!  Some brown and white ribbon "holds" the tag.

Senior Citizen

Dear Stella!  Could be me at our local supermarket on Senior Day LOL!!!  There is more to the verse, which I continued inside (...now give me my discount!)  Both are Bugaboo digis.  I am probably known for my humorous cards and use of pattern paper - this is from a recently purchased Basic Grey pad (Hopscptch - I thought the numbers and arrows reminded my of my sometimes seemingly aimless wandering with that cart!!!

Burgundy and Orange

I had decided not to do this color challenge, but then was re-inspired when I took another look at some of the work by DT members.  To all of you who are on design teams, and provide so much inspiration as well as encouraging comments - a BIG THANK YOU!  If you look at my galleries, you will realize that I use a lot of pattern paper - and this from my very old stash, is a favorite collection - though I forget the origin.  I also used other favorites - dies (Spellbinders) and rhinestones.  Other items:  Whiff of Joy sentiment, Martha Stewart punch, AMuse burgundy (named Currant) cs, glitter, and flowers from a dollar store stem.

Tag - Gift card holder

This is dual purpose - a tag and gift card holder - the ribbon means in can hang on the tree also.  Is anyone else like me - pressed for time?  So, I admit, I took a fairly easy way out.  The challenge at Simon Says Stamp and Show is to use a Tim Holtz tag for inspiration.  They are gorgeous, but right now is not the time for me to try one of his techniques.  I chose this tag:  http://timholtz.com/12-tags-of-christmastag-9/  Then I found some double sided DP (Costco) that I thought resembled the tag.  My "sentiment" is our grandson's name, and I used a QuicKutz folder to emboss a tree (well, it is actually debossed!!).  I left the gift card in the holder, so this is designed to hold that size.  Letters are cut with the CB Olivia dies.
Directions:  I cut the cs 12x5.5.  I folded it across, leaving the top layer about 6 inches.  That way, the back is a little shorter than the front.  I made a fold of about 1/3 inch along the entire side.  I trimmed that portion off the back, and adhered this strip along the back.  Easy peasy!

Two November birthdays

I have had little time for card making this week, but DGD is having a birthday soon. One reason I selected this stamp is to make her card - she is a sophomore and expects to play HS varsity later this year. Green and gold are the school colors, but I am not sure about the uniform!
The stamp is Your Next Stamp, with a Studio G sentiment. The basketball dp is by Paper House, and the words are on dp by Karen Foster. Coloring with Prismas and Spica pens.

I remembered just in time!  I added a "16" - big day!

This image was a gift from a friend at WishRAK, and is perfect for our grandson - he loves to hunt and fish, and this looks like his dog! I used the Sizzix fall leaf EF - a reminder of the aspens in CO. The sentiment is computer generated, and I bought a bag of plastic bone/buttons at a yard sale.
