Sten Hanson ‎– "Text-Sounds Gems & Trinkets" (Firework Edition Records ‎– FER 1037)

Sorry, just gotta have a bitch about something first!
If I had something on Vinyl-On-Demand to post I would, as Its founder seems to be claiming some moral High-ground over us with the 'Fucked Up Morals', for using photographs of someone else's cassette inserts, for which apparently gives the photographer ownership rights(if you don't want it copied don't put it on the internet!?); and for selling luxury products to Bourgeois record collectors, then complaing that listening to some lo-fi MP3's is robbing him of his thirty pieces of gold. Its an advert sonny-jim, and owning these astronomically expensive re-issues (not new stuff)is about the object/product/ and its posession not sharing poor copies of the music. Its like slagging off the John Peel Show for playing records of unknown musicians. Most of which, as is the case with this blog, are grateful that they aren't forgotten. In some cases it has revived their creativity, if not their career! If the public don't wanna pay for your products its because they don't think its value for money....its called market forces. If it don't sell its because no-one wants it.
I'm not supporting the artist apparently too!?
Simply by featuring the artist on a very popular blog one is supporting the artist, as most 99% of the  artists who have contacted me, have shown appreciation for this, i think that says something....the other 1% are in it for some other reason rather than the music. Slagging me off is like slagging robin hood and praising the Sheriff of Nottingham.....or even worse supporting Nottingham Forest instead of Leicester City.

I also apprently block criticism, which if you read the comments section you will find is a sad lie.I have never received so much as a whisper from this person,or if i did, it was published.

Sorry for disrespecting the memory of Sten Hansen, but i resent being condecended to by a jumped up record snob capitalist.
In their world, sharing is theft!?.....especially in these times,Property is theft.and copyright is Left.

I've washed my hands again, so i'll begin....Sten Hanson is Sweden's answer to England's Bob Cobbing and France's Henri Chopin. A sound poet -- or text-sound composer as the Swedish like to call this art form....The Suedes, in fact all Scandinavians always seem to get everything right. But they have one advantage over us mongrels...they have the Genetics to allow everything to work.Where the rest of the world panics, they remain stoic. One prime example is how to cope with Corna Virus, by carrying on almost as normal.
As highlighted here on "La Destruction de Votre Code Génétique par Drogues, Toxines et Irradiation" ("The Destruction of Your Genetic Code by Drugs, Toxins and Irradiation"): a robotic-like Hanson runs through the alphabetic sequence of human DNA, but the cut-and-paste sequence becomes gradually corrupted.
Even when their famed laid back DNA is under attack, they don't get carried away.

Keeping in mind that some of this stuff dates back to the dawn of recording technology, this is a highly interesting work of voice and electronics. At times simple tapeloops and other tape-technology which is now lost knowledge in the world of computers, but also at times synthesizers and other such apparatus.
So,here we have a compilation spanning nearly 40 years of sten hanson’s text-sound oeuvres, from the modern home of Text-sound,and common sense, Scandinavia.

Mark E. Smith ‎– "Pander! Panda! Panzer!" (Action Records ‎– TAKE19CD) 2002

A spoken word album of self-penned,like who else is gonna write stuff like this(?) short stories, lyrics, poetry, keyboard and sound effects, and some fragments of Fall songs, mixed as one continuous track......that's the bleeding obvious stuff out of the way.
Our Mark E. Mark only made two solo albums of using, primarily, the power of the spoken word. This forty minute collage is the last one he was to make.I kinds prefer this to virtually any Fall thing from 1991 onwards.
He does in fact mention the great Jimmy Bloomfield, manager of the 1970's version of Leicester City FC, which is a rare thing indeed.
He's a unique combination of comedian and poet, and its a joy to hear him relaxed and enunciating his words almost like it was 1982 again, rather than the slurring pisshead he sadly became. Here he sounds like the kind of popular dinner guest and raconteur that can make your cheese and charcuterie soirée swing.

Tracklist:

1 Pander! Panda! Panzer! 42:55

notes:

includes the following sections: Mount Street Sermon / PPP-The End / Enigramatic Dream [sic] / Life Just Bounces / Copenhagen "Set-Up" / Dissolute Singer / Lucifer Over Lancashire / Lakeland Opus 1 / Sport Duet / Idiot Joy Showland / "plus 5 previously unreleased sentences".

Loren Mazzacane Connors ‎– "The Departing Of A Dream" (Family Vineyard ‎– FV11) 2002

This maybe Loren Connors' best, most melancholic, work from a vast canon of unique nebulous guitar experimentation.
This is the sound of drowning, the sensation of falling, or recovering from an anaesthetic.A stark dream disappearing in a slowly swirling vortex of mist as reality pulls you away back into captivity after an all too brief escape.
The two requiems for the 9/11 attacks are particularly moving, shrouded in amplified tape hiss.
No need to mention the hundreds of thousands of post 9/11 victims that are rarely mourned to the tribute. As the lives of bankers, and stock traders seem to count for far more than any innocent muslim family vaporised by a Drone looking for 'Terrorists'.
I shall resist the temptation to go on a tiresome monologue about the 9/11 conspiracy, despite my earlier flirtations with the theory.I have looked into it a lot more, and all the paranoid theorums have been more than adequately deeeeee-bunked.....especially Tower fucking Seven!!!!
Yep, as unbelieveable as it may seem to an increasing number of persons under the spell of social media reverse mind control, a bunch of Islamic Terrorists....sorry...I mean terrorists!!!....flew some jets into some buildings, whose structural integrity was compromised, clearly, on live TV from many angles.....and, Collapsed into their own footprint, slightly slower than freefall speed.
No Hollograms,No free energy weapons, and above all absolutely NO controlled explosions.
The Paranoid Dream has definitely departed.
Feel free to argue otherwise in the comments section.

Jandek ‎– "I Threw You Away" (Corwood Industries ‎– Corwood 0770) 2002

Who did he throw away????
Only the bleakest music for the bleakest day of the week. Its Sterling's 32nd album, and it's 'Jandek Monday'again.Coming round like a dose of musical shingles to ruin your week.
A return to his classic howling and despondent strumming style, enhanced with some wailing harmonica squalls. After the previous three spoken word albums, this bleak masterpiece has been described as like mainlining grief submerged in a cold fog in a butchers shop of the soul. Alas, I reckon its also like the closest any non-junkie can get to experiencing the excruciating withdrawal symptoms of cold turkey.Instead of withdrawing from hard drugs, its a withdrawal from happiness.
The Jandek listening experience is as much a part of the recording as is the 'music'.One can implant ones own deepest anguishes and pain into the songs like cold lightening entering a golf club and stopping the heart of its captor.
Crawl into a pit of despondency with the mysterious Texan bard of Misery and experience the catharsis of knowing there's something out there who is more self-pitying than you are.

Sad Anorak Moment No. 27856:

The picture on the sleeve is in Cork City, Ireland. Thats St. Marys Cathedral in the background......yes Jandek went on Holidays it seems?!
And here's what it looks like now:

Tracklist:

1 Blues Turned Black 12:14
2 It Seems Forever 7:39
3 I Threw You Away 8:10
4 Frozen Beauty 11:50
5 The World Stops 9:01

Jandek ‎– "The Humility Of Pain" (Corwood Industries ‎– Corwood 0771) 2002

Jandek Monday beckons us yet again!
'Pain' is french for bread, and modern English for JANDEK!
Bread is a humble food, so the Humility of Pain (Bread) is very appropriate as Jandek forces the same response by the shear torture of his music.I humbly beg this jandek torture to please stop.
And so it does for short 6 day periods of tranquility, only to return to make the torture seem more intense.
Another Classic window into a mind, imagined or otherwise, of emotional turmoil and raw honest, human, suffering is what is on offer here. Filling the gaps between the notes with adequate reminders that we probably are already living in Hell.
The cover photograph, looks not unlike what the entrance to a 'real' Hell would look like in a Nightmare.Full of shadowy corners, with distant dark moanings filling the stale, dank, air;never quite seeing what monstrosity awaits past the bend in the narrow road,a visual analogy for life and the fear of its end?In fact there are a few corners of my village that look like that!?
What a great way to start another fruitless week on this rock?

4 I Want To Look In 6:38

Die Trip Computer Die - "Angry Dan Presents: Stop Killing Jelly Trousers" ( Altered States Tapes ‎– AST023) 2011

This is ,arguably, my favourite record of the 'teenies', though how one argues with oneself is worth an argument in itself.......with oneself?
As i'm high on Volterol's anti-inflammatory magic blended with a swiftly imbibed (the past participale of 'Imbibe') pint of guiness,I will push the boat out and say, "This is a perfect record". It ticks all the boxes in my sad internet fantasyland. It's very funny, innovative to the max, challenging, intellectually stimulating, did I say 'Funny'?......well...all that lot and more.
Yes, there's a lot of Plunderphonia about this cassette, but it's not pretentious like Oswalds' version of the genre, and its shitloads more amusing than Negativland, which is natural because 'Die Trip Computer Die' are English, and Negativland are far too 'clever' for their own goods American types.Amos, aka Xentos Fray Bentos of DTCD, did, again, arguably, invent the genre after all,as L Voag back in '79? No wonder that 'Angry Dan' is livid!
Die Trip Computer Die, are ,of course, Jim Whelton, late of the Homosexuals, Lepke Buchwater (Milk From Cheltenham), and Ted Barrow.....dunno much about him,but he sounds like someone who would have ran a market stall who sold out of print soul cd's.

Here's what it  says on the Altered States website:

"Altered States is proud to plop out this latest steaming opus by the now-defunct, absurdist trio, Die Trip Computer Die. Made up of men who were at one stage or another involved in UK post-punk unit The Homosexuals, DTCD utilise various instruments, circuit-bent equipment and plundered sample loops to achieve lift-off. Most importantly they use their (collective) MIND in order to crumble YOURS. Angry Dan Presents: Stop Killing Jelly Trousers was recorded live in Pontins, Nijmegan during a holiday in 2002 with the verbal verbosity of au pair, Angry Dan mastering ceremonies. However, this recording information may be merely another red herring left in your letterbox by the Trippers. ADP: SKJT is a twice a year listen, but when you do bring yourself to press play, it ll tie your laces and poach your eggs. 60 copies, pro tapes, cover + insert by Myjyerljcle Stevrdjnen Lesteechskinz."

Mick Hobbs and Benb Gallaher - "Bite My knee" (Life and Living Records) 2011

This Strobe Talbot 'spin-off' spoken word project recorded in 2002, involving Mick Hobbs and Benb Gallaher, apparently has sunk without trace in the heaving mires of modern information overload. Ramming headlong into a flatulent Iceberg from the 21st century musical glacier that threatens to consume all noble vessels that sail beyond the middle 'c's' . It rested on the seabed of taste for 7 long years only to be discovered in perfect condition in my e-mail inbox, courtesy of one Benb Gallaher!
Like Sir Lew Grade's abysmal "Raise The Titanic" movie, the album has been raised from the depths in near mint condition to sail, but not for sale, again to a new audience......well probably the same old audience, but who cares huh, it lives?

This is rather good for the continuity of this blog, because I was looking for tenuous links to post some new 'This Heat' bootlegs. Mick Hobbs' Cold Storage links aside, the original backing sounds for these spoken word pieces were originally to be comprised of unreleased works from the late Gareth Williams.....of This Heat.
A reverence towards Gareth's work, led to that idea being dropped. So that task fell squarely on the more than capable shoulders of mick Hobbs, Benb and the usual suspects including Jad fair, R. Stevie Moore, and Rick Wilson.

Jad Fair & R. Stevie Moore ‎– "FairMoore" (Old Gold) 2002

Everyone and their granny,in the known experimental pop universe, has done an 'ENO' collaboration it seems?
Running our Brian a close second in the 'Collaborations' ranking table is one, Mr Jad Fair, outsider rockist extraordinaire.
It only seems right that he should do one with original DIY outsider rocker R. Stevie Moore; who, as chance may have it, also guested on Strobe Talbot's 'Lets Born To Rock' album.
Musically, its firmly on the Outsider side of the Outsider Rock continuum, sounding like a Wesley Willis backing track as played by a Nashville cabaret band on a legal high kick. Jad Fair is on his usual form vocally and lyrically, streaming the consciousness of a child with no interest in attaining the trappings of maturity,at times approaching the logic of dreams.

Strobe Talbot ‎– "Let's Born To Rock!" (MRW44 ‎– mrw4407) 2002

Basically, this is how to 'Rock!'....... in 15 easy lessons.
I say 'easy' because Jad fair makes it seem easy, but it ain't! Many have tried and this is why the work 'Rock' is now an utter embarrassment, when it is in fact the greatest musical form ever shat out of the arse of man and woman kind.
Its primal nature has been flushed away leaving the floating turd of 21st century rock'n'poop glistening on the surface in the crapper of meaningless entertainment.
You can't teach this kind of authenticism in those despicable 'Rock Schools' and Pop Music University courses, you've either got it or you ain't; and anyone who needs to be taught it, AIN'T GOT IT!
Its my Birthday today, so endure this charmingly untutored record and tell me I'm Right!

NB...three tracks feature cassette legend R. Stevie Moore on guitar. He was doing it himself as far back as 1969 for Chrissakes!

Reynols ‎– "Pacalirte Sorban Cumanos" (Beta-lactam Ring Records ‎– mt051b) 2002

WARNING! I haven't gone off on an anti-NWO rant for a long time,so I feel the time is right,so be prepared.

This is Reynols 'pop' record.
If I was to recommend a Reynols album to the uninitiated,it would be this one. I do not suggest for one moment that anyone who regards themselves as 'normal' wouldn't run screaming from this experience; and would describe this non-music as 'Shit'! This common reaction is due to the decades of mind control forced upon these lost individuals by an essentially 'Evil',power drunk, 'wealth' grasping, morally bankrupt, ruling elite. If you are part of the future mass civil disobedience based peaceful revolution, otherwise known as the impending mass consciousness shift; then you will understand this music, if not , then fuck off and hug your possessions, pay your mortgage, taxes, and feed all this information onto Facebook; aka NSA/Mossad/CIA/ SIS/ ISIS. Support the stealth war in Syria, and feel angry at fake beheadings to justify the creeping Orwellian state.....which,of course, is for your own 'safety'!?(Who did the 7/7 bombings?.....check this!)
A little over a year after several 'free' parliaments, assembly’s, had voted against military action in Syria; now we suddenly have a new threat from the vaguely acronymed ISIS or IS or ISL,and its ok to bomb Syria without a free vote from your local elected assembly? How fake and manufactured is this bullshit; and we all accept it! We are being manipulated, and it ain't subtle either; yet another Gorilla on a basketball court mass fraud.
People who understand the Reynols experience, are not fooled by the superficial nonsense that is drip fed to a distracted, dumbed down, majority. This is the sound of Truth. Reject the status quo (not the excellent group!),and accept the true power of Love,as recorded by Argentinian beat combo, Reynols?
