Cathe Strong and Sweaty Boot Camp - Review

Image
Strong and Sweaty Boot Camp clocks in at around 45 minutes. There are six rounds and in each round there are four exercises. The pattern goes cardio, lower body, compound (which is lower body and upper body combined) and upper body. In this Boot Camp workout, core is not a part of the segments, but the Basic Premix does include the Bonus Core making the workout 56 minutes long. In the main workout, you are doing each of the exercises for about a minute. There is not much rest in this workout.  There are times when Cathe is explaining a move, you will get a brief breather but otherwise you are pretty much moving along.  Throughout the workout Cathe shows modifications for the various exercises. Cathe uses a 20 lb barbell, an assortment of dumbbell weights and a step bench. I enjoyed this workout. The soundtrack is pretty good too. On all the 5 main Strong and Sweaty DVDs, you have the following DVD menu options: Play Chapters Basic Premixes - (There is 1) Time...

Tracy Anderson Boot Camp - Review

Image
Tracy Anderson's Boot Camp Targeted Training DVD contains  three 20 minute workout. The DVD allows you to select Play All or to select an individual workout. The three individual workouts are : Abs Hips & Thighs Glutes Each workout is setup pretty similarly. Tracy starts you off with her signature warm up of arm movements. You then move into some stretching.  Next comes the main part of the workout - which most of it is done as a mat workout. The workout concludes with standing arm work and stretching. Now, while there is not a segment for the arms, you do get plenty of toning for the arms as each of the three workouts include some arm movements. Almost all the exercises in the Hips & Thighs and Glutes and some of the exercises in Abs are multi component exercises.  Tracy takes a little bit of time to demonstrate each of the exercise. She counts her demonstration as a rep. So as soon you see what she is doing, my advice is to jump in. Otherwise, yo...

Cathe Boot Camp Circuit - Thoughts

Image
Boot Camp Circuit is a 45 minute workout that is part of Cathe's ICE series for intermediate exercises. The workout consist of six circuits. Each circuit contains four exercises done back to back. The first exercise in the group is cardio focus. The second exercise is lower body. The third is upper body and the last exercise in the group is core based. Each exercise last about a minute. Then you move on to the next grouping. This workout is where you can really tell the series is intermediate. I went back and did Cathe's original Boot Camp workout from the Intensity series and there is a definite difference in, well, the intensity. This workout uses a step and a series of weights. Cathe's step height starts at two risers and then half way through the workout she raises the step height by adding another set of risers. This increases the intensity. Plus Cathe uses rep tempo variations within some of the exercises to increase the intensity as well. Boot Camp Circuit...

The FIRM Boot Camp 3-in-1 Mix - Thoughts

Image
The FIRM Boot Camp 3 in 1 Mix .  This workout is a compilation that can been performed one of three ways.  It is divided into Workout 1 which is about 42 minutes, Workout two which is about 37 minutes or you can combine both (skipping the cool down of the first workout and the warm up of the second workout) into one long 70 minute plus workout. The workout features footage from a variety of FIRM workouts, Super Cardio, Super Sculpting, Better Body & Buns, Maximum Body Shaping, Cardio Burn just to name a few.  As a result of the variety of workouts, you also get a variety of instructors leading the segments. The workout uses dumbbells, med ball, dowel, short and tall box steps, ankle weights, and barbell.  It is primarily strength and weight work. However, each workout has one or two cardio segments. And each workout has an abdominal section. I did the DVD as two separate workouts.  And I think I like workout two just a little bit better than workou...
