Mini Hexagon Stockings

I'm sticking with hexagons at the moment and have been making some mini quilted hexy stockings (hang-on-the-tree size) to give to my sons' teachers for Christmas.

I've never made presents for teachers before and so wanted to start off with something small but personalise it for each recipient.

Out came the Big Shot and the Hexagons, 1in Sides #2 die to turn this pile of Christmas fabric scraps into a neat stack of hexagons.

The Hexagons, 3/4in Sides was used to cut all of the papers to use with them.

I English paper pieced the front of the stocking, joining the hexagons together until they formed a piece big enough to cover the template I'd drawn out (I did cheat a bit and adjusted the template here and there if the hexagons didn't quite reach by a fraction).

I drew around the template with a water erasable pen, cut it out and then, because I'd just cut through some of the seams, machine-sewed around the edge to hold them together. With some scrap lining and a thin piece of batting I quilted the front with a simple diamond pattern.

The template was used (in reverse) to draw out and cut the back of the stocking from a neutral fabric. Before pinning and sewing it to the front, I wrote Aidan's teacher's name on it in water erasable pen and embroidered over the top in red before sponging away the remaining visible ink.

The front and back of the stocking were sewn together leaving the top open. The lining was made in the same way but the bottom of the foot part left open as well, to allow the stocking to be turned out the right way at the end.

I basted a ribbon hanging loop to the top back of the stocking outer and then stitched the lining to the outer around the top, reversing over the section that held the loop before continuing on to make sure it was well secured.
Then all that was left was to turn it the right way out and close the opening in the bottom of the lining. I say all that was left but I do still need to buy the bits and bobs to go inside...and make 2 more. One down though.

Hope your Christmas makes are going well!

Stocking and Befana for Epiphany

Hi Everyone! This is Anna.
”La Befana“ is the name of the witch who ancient legend says bears gifts to children on January 6th, the Day of the Magi, also known as the Feast of the Epiphany. It is a belief upheld until this day in Italy, and La Befana is embraced in the hearts and minds of Italian children and their families.
On the eve of Jan. 6, La Befana flies down chimneys or through keyholes throughout Italy. While she looks like an old witch, she is actually kind and only punishes bad boys and girls by leaving coal in their stockings. For kids who have been good, she fills up their stockings with candy, fruit, nuts and small gifts.
I made this stocking card for Befana day... This is fun and easy to create!

Items used:
white cardstock
patterned papers
glitter paper
distress ink
white thin felt
rustic twine
lace trim
snowflake embellishment
glue, hot glue

How to make:
1. Cut different parts of the Stocking Gift Holder by Brenda Walton from different materials.Cut out the different shapes to make the rosette .
2. Attach the front of stocking above the back and lightly ink the edges. Assemble the felt topper of stocking and add the lace trim. Glue toe and heel. Attach the rosette above the topper of stocking.
3. Print or stamp the sentiment in the white cardstock and adhere. Apply a snowflake embellishment and insert a tag into the stocking gift holder.
4. Lastly make a loop with a piece of rustic twine so you can hang the stocking.

“La Befana” has always held a special place in my heart as well as my cultural history. And how cool is it to have a Christmas witch?!
For the next La Befana celebration, make sure to keep these stocking cards hung by the chimney in hopes that La Befana will soon be there! ;)
Well, I hope you enjoyed it!!
Thanks for stopping by! I will be back Friday with another project!

Flag_of_Italy Per le amiche italiane! :)

Ciao!

Materiali:
cartoncino bianco
patterned papers
carta glitter
inchiostro distress
feltro bianco sottile
spago
pizzo
fiocco di neve per abbellimento
colla, colla a caldo

Procedimento:

Christmas Stocking Garland

Hi Everyone! This is Anna.
This week I was inspired to create a stocking garland when I spied this Sizzix die stocking from while… too cute! The die even included the ruffly cuffs for the top of the stockings and more embellishments – love it!!!
You can Recycle fabric scraps. I used a scrap piece of fleece blanket and grey sweatpants :D

Items used:
glitter paper (DCWV - The Christmas & Winter Combo Glitter Cardstock Matstack)
white fleece fabric
grey sweat fabric
scrap of flowers patterned fabric
lace
red ribbon
twine white and red
red and white buttons
harness bell
sequins
hot glue
sewing machine, yarn

How to make:
Cut different parts of the Stocking Gift Holder by Brenda Walton from different materials: cut out two piece of front from white fleece fabric, cut out the topper of stocking from grey sweat fabric, cut out a star from red glitter paper. Use Framelits to cut out a snowflake.
Set to assembling the stocking. Sew the front of stocking above the back. Sew/assembly the topper.
Now comes the fun part… decorating the stockings!
Apply ribbon, lace, snowflake, buttons, sequins... When you are done decorating the stockings, leave enough ribbon on each end to create a loop for hanging.
When you are happy with the placement of all the stockings, tie a loop for hanging onto each end and Voilá! … you’re done!

You’ve created a stocking garland that will be a treasured keepsake for many years to come. This will also make a beautiful Advent Calendar or holiday gift for that special someone on your list!
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!

Flag_of_Italy Per le amiche italiane! :)

Ciao!

Materiali:
carta Glitter (DCWV - The Christmas & Winter Combo Glitter Cardstock Matstack)
tessuto in pile bianco (di recupero)
tessuto grigio di felpa (di recupero)
avanzo di tessuto a fiorellini
pizzo
nastro rosso
spago bianco e rosso
bottoni rosso e bianco
campanellino
filo di paillettes
colla a caldo
macchina per cucire, filo

Procedimento:

Felice fine settimana!

Merry Christmas Stockings

Hello everyone!!! It's Christmas Eve, the most enjoyable day of the year! I adore this day I don't know why, I think for its magical atmosphere!!!! I always think that something incredible can happen today like in the best christmas movies!!!! LOL

First of all I wish you all a very merry and bright Christmas! I wish you an amazing Christmas full of joy, family, health and all your desires came true from the deep of my heart!!!

Today I want to share with you a lovely project to do at last minute as well :)
Christmas Stockings!!!

Materials you need:

Let's go... they are very simple to build and adorable to donate as a little gift. You can also think to use them as place cards for your christmas table this night :)
You can use the sewing machine or decide to hand stitch :) as you prefer :)

Here they are in fabric and paper versions:) Aren't they so adorable?

Paper Stocking

Step 1
Cut  four different stockings in kraft and white paper and mix their pieces to create a lovely color combination. I mixed kraft and white card stock and added red and gold embellishments.

Step 2
Sew every single piece and once you have created the two stocking  sew them together leaving the top opened and insert the padding :)

Step 3
Embellish them! I cut a little primitive star from the gold glitter paper and sticked it on a white little tag.
Cut a snowflake from white card stock and add an adhesive pearl on its centre. Finally another kraft little tag from maya road and stamp your greetings:) I used Tecnique Tuesday stamps from Ali Edwards:)
Add twine and velvet red ribbon to finish the stocking. At the end the wood button with hot gun glue.

Fabric Stocking

the process is perfectly the same of the paper stocking but I have added the christmas bells and the rings to use them like keychains.
Pay attention when you die cut the fabric stockings because there will be one for the back and another for the front of the stocking. Fabric is different from the paper because has a reverse ;)

Have a wonderful, amazing, merry and bright Christmas:)
Love you all, Lory
