Flower round card

Hi everybody! Elena here.

Today I have a clean and simple round card made with the Big Shot Plus Starter Kit, some Thinlits dies and one of the new punches by Tim Holtz.

Supply list:
  • Card: Yellow, pink, white, green
  • Pattern paper
  • Mini Brad
  • Stamps
  • Black ink
  • Adhesive
  • Foam Squares
  • Black gel pen
  • Pink ribbon

To make the card base I have die cut two circles, embossed one of them with the Big Shot Plus Embossing Folder, scored the other one at 1 cm  and have glued them on the top. This technique allows you to open and close your round card.

Then I have die cut the flower using the Flowers Layers and Stem Thinlits Die Set by Eileen Hull and have assembled the flower bending the petals a little bit. I have stamped my sentiment with black ink on the little tag from the Big Shot Plus Starter Kit. I love the basic shape of this tag, you can use it in almost every occasion!

And as the final touch, I have punched one butterfly using one of the new Tim Holtz punches and glue it on the tag.

Happy Monday!

..........................

¡Feliz lunes!

International Baby Shower

What do you do when you want to throw a baby shower but you are separated by an ocean?

You throw a virtual baby shower!

This past week we celebrated the birth of Leo, brand new son of one of our Inspiration Team members, Anna-Karin Evalddson. Their family had just moved to Sweden and the new little guy was born weeks early- in fact she made it to the hospital and 20 minutes later, he arrived!

The Inspiration Team decided that we would all create a project for little Leo and share it on line so it was almost as though Anna-Karin was unwrapping her gifts one by one as she clicked through from blog to blog. I think it went really well- she was very surprised and touched.

Click on each person's name to go to their blog and see how the projects were made!

Here are the projects we created for her!

Journey Mini- Album

Here's a project that I made using some beautiful papers, stamps and flowers from Prima and the Sizzix Mini-Album die.

This die has lots of options- the binding is adjustable! You can make the depth of the album either 3/8" or 1 1/8" just by where you fold on the score lines.

The album cover was cut from matboard. I used the Heart Mover and Shaper to die cut the window in the cover.

# 658982 Sizzix ScoreBoards XL Die - Album, Mini

The Mini-Album die also may be used to cut the pages. Here's how...

  1. Fold a 12" x 12" sheet of paper in half and then in quarters.
  2. Place the large fold just shy of the last score line on the die and run the paper through the Big Shot. This will cut and score two page signatures.
  3. Place the page next to the book cover and slip a rubber band over the page and cover, then adjust in the book. This is a super quick and easy way to bind the book. You can also use twine, linen or thin ribbon to tie the pages into the binding of the book.
  4. There is also a piece on the die designed to be used as a closure. Attach the long end to the back of the book, then determine whether what depth of a book you will be making and mark a spot on the book where you feel you should close the book. Attach Velcro™Brand fasteners to each side of the latch.
  5. Layer flowers on the cover and add a metal embellishment with the word Journey.

Canning Jar Wedding Banner

In the morning, I am attending my friend's daughter's bridal shower. I bought her a gift in a store that provided silver wrapping paper... but Sarah, the bride-to-be, is not a silver wrapping paper kind of girl.

I have been helping her mom out here and there with some of the wedding decor and know that Sarah's colors are turquoise, red and mustard yellow. She is using canning jars for the table flower arrangements. I decided to make her a banner that they can use at the wedding, or after they are married, in their home.

There were a few words that I thought of spelling out but in the end I decided to make it simple and do their last name.

Supplies:

657900  Big Shot
655267  Extended Cutting pads
658453  Sizzix ScoreBoards XL Die - Canning Jars, 3-D
655128  Serif Essentials Alphabet
Matboard (colors)
Chipboard for jars
Foam squares
Yarn
Strong hole punch

  1. Die cut from chipboard as many jars as you need for the words you want to spell.
  2. Die cut letters of words you want to spell.
  3. Adhere letters with foam squares to canning jar shapes to spell your message.

  4. Punch a hole on either side of the cans.
  5. Thread yarn through the holes in the jars and leave enough on the end to tie the banner on with.
Simple, easy and personal...  Sending my best wishes to the bride and groom!

Projects to Love

Hi everyone! I am a licensed artist with Sizzix. The dies that I design are called ScoreBoards which are specially designed to cut and score thick material like matboard and chipboard to make sturdy 3D projects, boxes and books.

Every month over on my blog, we host an Art With Heart Challenge- we want to see what you are working on! The theme for February is Projects to Love and we would love you to post a link of your latest project here. One lucky person will win my new Cookie Box die!

Craft & Hobby Show 2015

Last week, I returned from the Craft & Hobby Show (CHA). This is an annual trade show where manufacturers, press, store owners and designers from all over the world gather to see the newest craft products and tools. It is quite inspiring to experience this show and always fun to meet new and old friends.

The Sizzix booth was busy the whole time! Each designer had a small area where their product was displayed. It is always so exciting to see my artwork transformed from flat art into 3D- it never gets old.

I was so happy to finally be able to share my newest Sizzix collection- Vintage Travel- a collection of fifteen dies inspired by my Paper Trail adventures in Scotty, my vintage camper, in 2014. You can read about the trip on my blog. The dies will be available in April.

Lucky me- my amazing Inspiration Team made awesome samples of the new dies for me to share at CHA. They worked all through the holidays to get the projects done and I am so grateful for the time, energy and incredible talent that they gave to help me. The sample designs were a huge hit at the show because they showcased the versatility of the dies and how you can put your own style on each one. Here's a small sample of their work... there will be more to come as the release approaches.
Here's a quick video I filmed in the booth with Scrapbook.com. While on the Paper Trail, I stopped in and filmed several videos at their warehouse in Arizona, so it was nice to see my friends again at CHA!

Now I am trying to get everything unpacked and cleaned up after the flurry of packing and sample -making before the show. Wish me luck with that!

Sending you all my best wishes for a happy and healthy 2015!

3D Mug Gift Holder

Hi everyone! I hope you had a great Christmas...

I wanted to share a project that is quick, easy and can be adapted to any occasion. Fill with candy, gifts or treats.

I used the Make-It-3D die
and Mug & Spoon from the new Vintage Kitchen collection.
  1. Coat a sheet of matboard with spray adhesive and cover with paper. Die cut two mug shapes, a spoon and one insert to make the 3D well. Remember to place the paper side down when cutting.
  2. Bend over on all score lines on the Make-It-3D segment that goes in the middle of the two mugs.
  3. Use hot glue to adhere mug to middle piece to the front, then add the back.
  4. Embellish with rick rack, twine, bell and pine cones.

You can find these dies in your local store or on-line. Please visit my blog to see lots of ideas from my Inspiration Team...

Happy New Year and best wishes for 2015!
