How to make a stencil with the Big Shot

 Hi friends!

Usually we use our Big Shot to cut all kinds of objects and decorations, and We also saw how to make foam stamps, but ... you can use our dies to make a stencil? The answer is yes! With a little trick we can do stencils with our Sizzlits dies, even those with several closely spaced shapes.

You need:

  1. Cut the piece of vinyl that we will use, considering that it should be a margin around the figure to not dirty with the paint. Place on the die, with the vinyl side down, and cut.
  2. Cover with masking tape (in the vinyl side) all the cuts that have been around that are not the chosen figure. Remove the vinyl die from the central figure.
  3. When we want to use the stencil, simply remove the paper protecting from the adhesive part of the vinyl and paste our stencil in the desired position. With a sponge or stiff brush loaded with little paint we tapped on the stencil, remove, and voila!

We can use the stencil several times, while the adhesive keeps sticking and small parts do not break. I used it to decorate a Christmas ornament: felt gloves with winter motives.

What do you think? Easy right? Until next week with a new tutorial!

Ciao amici!

New Graphic mini Book by Karine

Hello !

Here is a new mini book inspired by Project Life, handmade with nice pockets from Simple Stories! I used a combo that I love: sea green, pink and a touch of yellow to give dynamism! Are you with me?

Supply list:

Papers: Crate Paper, Studio Calico
Alphabets: Simple Stories
Stickers: American Crafts, Simple Stories
Chipboards: Heidi Swapp
Dots, frames, corners: Ephéméria
Stamps: Craft Origine, Florilèges Design
Ink: Black Versafine

Dies:

650515 :Sizzix Big Shot Plus Starter Kit
658332 :Sizzix Sizzlits die-Ampersands & Banners
660800 :Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 6PK-Home Sweet Home
660804 :Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 3PK-Happiness phrases

As usual I built my mini book with cardboard, papers, cardstock and transparent pockets. I used my Big Shot machine to cut my paper scraps and decorate my project :-)

Cut pretty houses out of sea green cardstock. I love this die; it is so cute, isn’t it? I cut it twice so that I can put the focus on the roof by gluing a second paper piece with 3D adhesive foam. The little windows will be cut out of in other paper scraps and superimposed so as to create a contrast with colours! What a great result, don’t you think?

I used the “Be Happy” die twice. It will be framed by pattern paper to make it stand out more.

On the little squares pocket, I wanted to contrast with the even pattern so I added a big “&” cut out of sea green cardstock scrap to serve as decoration. This set is on sales at the moment so do not hesitate to buy it! It is very easy to use and can be adapted to every theme!

Time for pictures! :-)

Thank you for your visits and comments

660804 :Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 3PK-Happiness phrases

Blue layout by Karine

Hello!

Here is a new lay-out with the brand new collection from 4heures37 which is called Route Nationale! I chose to use one main colour for this project which is light blue.

Supply list:
Papers: 4heures37, labels
Alphabets: Basic Grey, Glitz Design
Wood accents: Studio Calico
Stamp: Denim Tampons, Studio Calico, Glitz Design
Ink: Black Versafine, Chalk Prima
Pencils: Woody Stabilo
Masking Tape

Dies:
658300 : Sizzix Big Shot Starter Kit
658332 : Sizzix Sizzlits Die -Ampersands & banner
660270 : Sizzix Sizzlits Decorative Stip Die-Scallops#2
660807 : Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 4PK-sunny-flower

I really enjoyed using the latest dies I received on this page “Les filles du Jeudi”! I definitely love these modern & freestyle patterns that give dynamism to my lay-out!

I built my page with 3 little horizontal pictures, some stamps printed on the background, splashes, labels and Masking Tape. The die cuts come as a finishing touch, as for the “&” cut out of beige paper and glued with 3D adhesive. The edges are outlined with a thin-tipped black pen.

The small flowers from the Sunny Flower die set are really blending in and are outlined with black pen as well.

Then I added a border die next to my last picture. The title is made of various alphabet stickers.

A little reference to my Thursday friend Helene is made with these wonderful pictures taken during a cropping party in Sequedin: really nice souvenirs to scrapbook!

Thank you for visiting the blog and for your nice comments!

Karine

Bonjour !

Alphabets : Basic Grey, Glitz Design
Embellissement bois : Studio Calico
Tampon : Denim Tampons, Studio Calico, Glitz Design
Encre :Versafine noire, Chalk Prima
Crayons : Woody Stabilo
Masking Tape

Dies utilisés:
658300 : Sizzix Big Shot Starter Kit
658332 : Sizzix Sizzlits Die -Ampersands & banner
660270Sizzix Sizzlits Decorative Stip Die-Scallops#2
660807 : Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 4PK-sunny-flower

Hello and a romantic package

Hello!
My name is Silvia and I'm so happy to start working with Sizzix team.
I live in Como (Italy), a lovely town with such a beautiful lake.

I'm the blogger behind Ghirlanda di Popcorn since 2010 but I have always been addicted to paper.
I'm a really package lover and I would like to share with you everything about my world made with wrapping paper, ribbons and baker's twine.

I'm so lucky for what happened to me because thanks to my blog I met bloggers who have become friends, I had the opportunity to collaborate with different company and try new products and last but not least I improved myself making photos, editing them and using graphic programs.

I believe life is made by little things (and I always enjoy them) and great passions and my favourite quote is: love your life, follow your dream.
I'm trying to do it, that's why I'm so glad about this new partnership.
Thank you in advance for your feedback and your comments.

Today I'd like to share with you an exemple of what you'll see every sunday in my posts.

Since I'm addicted to packaging the greater part of my creative projects will be about packaging tips and inspiration.
Hope you like them!

* Per le lettrici italiane *

Ciao a tutti!

"Captured Moments" Card by Gerry van Gent

Hello Sizzix friends!

It's Sunday and I am back with another project I created for you.
For today's post I prepared a card using a few Sizzix dies.

Captured Momentssiz
657900 Sizzix Big Shot Machine
658508 Sizzix Sizzlits Die Set Roses Flower Set
658221 Sizzix Originals Die Curly Gate
658551 Sizzix Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die
658711 Sizzix Sizzlits Dec. Strip Die Ironwork Gate
*      *      *

Once I die cut the stems with leaves from the Roses Flower Set I used them to decorate
the flower clusters. Before adhering them I used a white pen and drew round the edges.
N.B. The stem & leaves on the right side of the card were die cut twice and
adhered partially on top of each other.
1

From the Ironwork Gate I used only a bit as decoration.
2

The Curly Gate was die cut twice - once using white cardstock and
second time using some corrugated cardboard.
I used the corrugated cardboard die-cut as a shadow.
4

I love so much how the Mini Filmstrip turned out - I call it the "dancing" Filmstrip :-)
I glued the filmstrip fristly only in the beginning and the end.
Then I partially  adhered parts of the filmstrip to give this "dancing" feeling.
As a final touch I added the buckle.

OTHER PRODUCTS I USED:
The Scrapbook Diaries Clear Stamps
KaiserCraft papers
Tim Holtz stencil
Prima Marketing flowers

Memories from Wrexham by Gerry

Hello Sizzix friends!

Today's project is about me :-)
I don't know about you but I often take selfies so I can share them online.
This photo is one of my favourite selfies and a special one because it was
taken in Wrexham when I visited for the first time Sizzix Europe headquarters.
And of course for my favourite photo I had to use my favourite Sizzix products!

As a base for my A4 layout I used the cardboard back of our old family agenda -
yes, I never throw cardboard! You can use it in various ways.

656938 Sizzix Movers & Shapers L Die Tag & Bookplate
659127 Sizzix Thinlits Die Set Frame Layers & Flower #2

*    *    *
Love how the Spring Greenery branches match
the fussy cut branches from the pattern paper.
2d

I used the small die-cut circles from the Tag & Bookplate to decorate
all over the layout - I simply die cut them in different colours and
adhered them on my project.
2b

I cut two small ends of the Ironwork Gate and coloured them in black.
Then I glued them on top of the other ends -
in this way I wanted to have more contrast and also
to match the rest of the "blacks" on the layout.
2c

I die cut the doily by using two different pattern papers.
One of the pattern papers I used for the doily itself and
the circle where I stamped the quote.
From the black pattern paper I used only the circle for the layout.
I cut into two and used half underneath the other as a shadow.

Other Products I used:
Webster's Pages Pattern Paper
Stamps - Donna Downey, Pink Paisley, Prima Marketing
A fussy cut bird - Prima Marketing pattern paper

I hope you enjoyed my project today!
Have a creative Sunday!

1-2-3 Cards ! By Karine

Hello!

Here we are today, back with come cards! Not one, not two but three different ones really easy to realize! We will work essentially with white cardstock and paper scraps.

Supply list:

Cardstock: American Crafts
Labels: Ephéméria
Embellishments: My Mind's Eye
Stamp: Craft Origine
Inks: Prima Chalk
Masking Tape
Stabilo Pen 68
Others: Charcoal

Dies:

658300: Sizzix Big Shot Starter Kit
656545: Sizzix Bigz Die-Flower 3D
658334: Sizzix Sizzlits Die-Flight of Fancy

The aim is to create three little cards size 10x15 cm with paper scraps, a little stash and above all colours!

My 3 cards are all different but they still match together
The backgrounds are all prepared the same way working with watercolour thanks to my Stabilo Pen68 felt-tip pens. Take a paintbrush to help the colour spread; splash, mix colours or play with tone-on-tone colours.

Once your backgrounds are dry, you can draw small triangles with charcoal and add volume by inserting butterfly shapes cut with your Big Shot. Colorize them with a contrasting colour.

Glue your embies with 3D foam adhesive or play with volume by creating a pretty flower thanks to the ide Flowers3D.

Add a text stamp “une pensée pour toi » on all your three cards and here you are!

Thank you,
See you next Thursday,

Karine

Bonjour !

Cardstock : American Crafts
Etiquettes : Ephéméria
Embellissements : My Mind's Eye
Tampon : Craft Origine
Encres : Prima Chalk
Masking Tape
Stabilo Pen 68
Divers : Fusain

Dies utilisés :

658300: Sizzix Big Shot Starter Kit
656545: Sizzix Bigz Die-Flower 3D
658334: Sizzix Sizzlits Die-Flight of Fancy

Merci !

A jeudi

Karine
