Altered book by Karine

Hi everyone!

Let’s start the month with a mini-album in the manner of an altered book. That’s an album that I teach in my classes (and I will be teaching it in Liege in Belgium next week-end by the way).

Here are the dies I used to embellish my mini-album:

-657708 Flower Garden with Scallops
-657811 Sizzix Textured Impressions Embossing Folders 2PK - Bohemian Lace Set
-657188 Tiny Tabs and Tags

I really like using the border die in my mini albums. It brings fineness and femininity, especially in this ink-based album.
I cut the shape out of a patterned paper then glued it with double-sided tape. I used masking tape to hide the unwanted tape marks.

The Tim Holtz die is one of my favourite dies to use in mini albums! It allows me to create small accents: tags, and eyelets that match with my kit! I love it, and it is definitely a classic!

I always work on the cover of my mini album at the end of my creation process. Here I created an opening in which I inserted a white Bristol sheet that is embossed with nice patterns. I applied Adirondack and Distress inks on it to make it stand out.

Here are some pictures of my album with some of the dies I used. You won’t see the full album as it is still a surprise for those who will attend the classes.

Have a nice day,

Karine

-657708 Flower Garden with Scallops
-657811 Sizzix Textured Impressions Embossing Folders 2PK - Bohemian Lace Set
-657188 Tiny Tabs and Tags

Karine

Holiday layout

Hi everyone!

Today I’ll show you a very holiday-like layout, even though the start of the school days is looming ahead!
Let’s scrapbook your nicest holidays pictures to prolong your summer!
You with me? Let’s go then!

Here are the dies you’ll need for today:

Big Shot (655268)
Labels & Buttons (657723)
Framelits, labels, Fancy4 (657913)
Framelits, labels Fancy3 (657907)
Hello Set (657788)

Supply list:

Papers: Crate Paper, Kési'Art, American Crafts
Cardstock: American Crafts
Alphabets: Doodlebug, 7Gyspsies
Flowers: October Afternoon
Chipboard: American Crafts
Washi Tape
Tags
Stamps: Craft Origine, Aladine, Hero Arts, Florilèges Design
Inks: Versafine, Archival, Adirondack (Citrus)
Spray inks: Studio Calico Piglet, Incky Black, Tattered Angels Turquoise Blue
Glimmer Glaze: Tattered Angels Aloha Green
Punch: Martha Stewart

Start your layout by adding…the title! Yes, true, we start by the end! But i must admit that my title was obvious to me when I see the t-shirt that my niece was wearing that day. So I wished to use this fantastic "Hello Set" designed by Karen Burniston. I truly like it.
Cut the word „hello“ out of some white paper. Place it on your background then spray ink on it.

Take off your stencil and let dry. To make the word stand out, outline its edges with a thin-tipped black pen.

Now build your lay-out by superimposing scraps of matching papers as well as washi tape, for a touch of fantasy.

With some Framelits dies, cut two tags out of white paper. Shade them lightly with Adirondack ink and stamp some patterns on them.

Add your picture and don’t be afraid of adding many embellishments! Cut patterns from printed papers (here, the roses). Punch butterflies.
Add a new turquoise tag made with the „label & buttons“ die. I also cut of button out of this die, in kraft paper, to make it stand out more.

Time to finish your title. The word "hello“ that served as a stencil will be used and mounted with 3D adhesive.

Add a new Framelits die on the upper part of your page. It’s cut in part and glued on the edge of the lay-out, the second part will be added above the picture.

Then add ink stains made with blue Glimmer Glaze and anise green Adirondack ink.

I hope you will appreciate this new Thursday layout!

Have a great day!

Karine

Vous me suivez ?

Big Shot (655268)
Labels & Buttons ( 657723)
Framelits, labels, Fancy4 (657913)
Framelits, labels Fancy3 (657907)
Hello Set (657788)

Matériel :

Papiers : Crate Paper, Kési'Art, American Crafts
Cardstock : American Crafts
Alphabets : Doodlebug, 7Gyspsies
Fleurs : October Afternoon
Chipboard : American Crafts
Washi Tape
Tags
Tampons : Craft Origine, Aladine, Hero Arts, Florilèges Design
Encres : Versafine, Archival, Adirondack (Citrus)
Encres en Sray : Studio Calico Piglet, Incky Black, Tattered Angels Turquoise Blue
Glimmer Glaze : Tattered Angels Aloha Green
Perforatrice : Martha Stewart

Everyday: Old Labels Tin

I am really excited about my first collection of products for Sizzix, Everyday. It really is a dream come true. The collection is going to hit the crafts shops in the UK and the rest of Europe in the next few weeks!

So I will start by sharing this little project using the Old Labels dies and stamp set and one of the Notebook Covers texture impressions folder.

One of the things it was essential for me when I was designing this collection was coordination, ie that as well as good stand alone products they would also work in combination with other products of the collection, specially coordinating with the embossing folders from the collection. Hopefully this project will show one of those coordinations.

For this project I am using a paper from the beautiful line, Sweet Afternoon by Teresa Collins (available in the UK by Personal Impressions stockists). I sue as the tin one of the ones I get from the coffee I drink.

To attach the paper to the tin can be tricky. For thinner papers I would use something like Ranger's Matte Medium, but since Teresa Collins' papers are thicker than regular paper I new it would be hard to attach the paper quickly. So I went for the red ultra tape from Stix2.

Put a strip of tape top, another, bottom and a couple in the middle. Then start to attach the paper use the bottom or top as guides.

And then attach the last flap.

To decorate the lid, I used the circle framelits. I first place them on the lid, so that I could be sure of the sizes, measuring is good for some, but I rather do it this way!

To die cut a frame with framelits there are two ways, one is to die cut with both framelits at the same time as I did in here, or the other alternative for slightly more accurate results for me is to die cut the inside first and then do the outer cut.

I stamp the smaller rectangle image on white smooth paper. Personally, I recommend using Memento or Versafine ink pads when stamping with clear stamps. Also I love to use the Tim Holtz acrylic blocks to stamp. Because they are thinner is easier to apply even pressure specially with solid or large stamps, and, as they come in a array of sizes, it means that you always have a block close to the stamp size.

Once stamped, you can place the matching framelit over the stamped image and securing it with low tack tape.

At the same time die cut a plain white label using the largest die.

Place the largest die cut label inside of the Notebook cover embossing folder and secure it with low tack tape.

And this is what you get! I just love it!

Then emboss the stamped label.

As you can barely see in this photo, you can either emboss it or deboss it.

Then, I attached flat the larger label on the tin. I place some foam pads in the centre to attach the smaller label.

I used a rub ons to add the message, but you cut use one of your stamps for this. I like the simplicity of this tin, but I wanted to use the dots too.

I started by stamping loads of them on the white smooth card using different colours and the different circle stamps that come in the Old Labels die and stamps set.

And then I place them over the tin matching the dots of the papers.

And to finish it off I added a bow on top.
