Easy Felt Flower

 Hi friends!

Today we will make a very easy  felt flower using circles cut with our Big Shot. Using larger or smaller circles we can make flowers of different sizes for all types of uses.

You need:

  1. Cut six circles.
  2. Bend 5 circles and 4 parts, glue the union for that not to be open.
  3. We get 5 quarter circle.
  4. Paste on the sixth circle 4 quarters, and the fifth in the space created above.
  5. Cut leaves. Paste one or more leaves below the flower.

What do you think? Easy right? Until next week with a new tutorial!

    Ciao amici!

    Zombie Eyes

    Hey guys,
after showing you some christmas cards the last weeks, I have a really easy halloween card for you. You just need your watercolors, white cardstock and a brush. :) And of course, the Sizzix Big Shot Plus Machine Only (White & Gray) #660020 and the Sizzix Framelits Die Set 8PK - Circles #657551.

    1. Draw some circles in different colors and very important: BE MESSY. These will be the zombie eyes for our card. Let it dry!
    2. Now use black watercolor to add the pupil of the eyes. I made some circles and stripes in different sizes. This looks more spooky! ;)
    3. Cut them out with your Big Shot Plus and put them onto your card. I decided to place a fun sentiment between them.
    That´s it! :)

The fun fact about this card is, that you just imagine zombie eyes on this card at the second sight. My husband was like "oh, what a beautiful pattern" and than he realized what it really was. ;)

I hope I could inspire you to create your own spooooooky cards. :)
Have a nice day, xo Julia

"Hello Sunshine" Card by Gerry van Gent

    Happy Sunday Sizzix friends!

Today I am sharing with you a card I created for not a
particular occasion - it was simply fun to create a window
card by using the Circles framelits dies.
660515 Sizzix Big Shot Plus Starter Kit
660804 Sizzix thinlits Die Set Happiness Phrases
660500 Sizzix Thinlits Die Set Intricate Tribal Florals
659573 Sizzix Sizzlits Dec. Strip Die Spring Greenery
657551 Sizzix Framelits Die Set Circles
    656551 Sizzix Bigz Die Birds
    *       *       *

After die cutting a circle in the middle of my double card
I began decorating it by adding first the bird.
After that I adhered the Happiness Phrases -
these are attached to the card only by the ends.
Then I added the layered flower and the Spring Greenery .

I used two sorts of the Intricate Tribal Florals to create my flowers.

The Bird was die cut from corrugated cardboard and pattern paper.
In this way it makes it steady and dimensional.

    Circles Baby Quilt: Finished!

Dies used: Drunkard's Path Quarter Circle
                     Drunkard's Path & Fan Background

    Hello again!

The little man that is set to receive this baby quilt has yet to make an appearance but it is now all ready when he is!

I've loved making this quilt. Sewing curves made a nice change, they weren't too tricky to handle and work so well on a small quilt like this one (approximately 32" x 32"). The circles are a really good size for quilting in that they are big enough to contain a specific pattern/design but not too big so that it's awkward to keep track of the design during quilting. I used 4 different quilting patterns and had 4 circles of each design.

The brushed cotton backing is super-soft and is lovely to touch especially with the ridges formed by the quilting.

All that's left now is to wrap it up and wait!

    Happy sewing :)

    Circles Baby Quilt

Dies used: Drunkard's Path Quarter Circle
                     Drunkard's Path & Fan Background

Last time I posted about the baby quilt I had just begun for my friend's baby that is due in a couple of weeks time. Having made the first four circles as a test run it was time to work out how the rest of the quilt was going to come together. After going through my entire stash of blue fabrics I opted to use some blenders to bring out some of the more detailed prints and not to repeat any as I'd originally intended and instead use 16 different fabrics.

I have to say that I'm not sure I'd have managed a quilt even as small as this if I had to cut all of those curves by hand! Here are all 16 circle blocks ready to be sewn together.

I always photograph my final intended layout and use the photo as a guide to work from as once sewing them all together gets under way I always lose track of what goes where! They were sewn together into four 2 x 2 blocks and then joined in pairs and then together to give the final quilt top.

The quilt is now basted and the backing is some super soft organic brushed cotton with a clouds design, perfect for snuggling a newborn under.

Quilting has begun and the plan is to have 4 different quilting designs for the circles, so there will be 4 of each style. One down, 15 to go.

As it's only small it's easy to manoeuvre on the sewing machine and fun to quilt. Next time I post there may be a little baby tucked up in it!

    Happy sewing!
