Journey Mini- Album

Here's a project that I made using some beautiful papers, stamps and flowers from Prima and the Sizzix Mini-Album die.

This die has lots of options- the binding is adjustable! You can make the depth of the album either 3/8" or 1 1/8" just by where you fold on the score lines.

The album cover was cut from matboard. I used the Heart Mover and Shaper to die cut the window in the cover.

# 658982 Sizzix ScoreBoards XL Die - Album, Mini

The Mini-Album die also may be used to cut the pages. Here's how...

  1. Fold a 12" x 12" sheet of paper in half and then in quarters.
  2. Place the large fold just shy of the last score line on the die and run the paper through the Big Shot. This will cut and score two page signatures.
  3. Place the page next to the book cover and slip a rubber band over the page and cover, then adjust in the book. This is a super quick and easy way to bind the book. You can also use twine, linen or thin ribbon to tie the pages into the binding of the book.
  4. There is also a piece on the die designed to be used as a closure. Attach the long end to the back of the book, then determine whether what depth of a book you will be making and mark a spot on the book where you feel you should close the book. Attach Velcro™Brand fasteners to each side of the latch.
  5. Layer flowers on the cover and add a metal embellishment with the word Journey.

Art Journal and More

Life has been crazy for me lately and I apologize for missing a few posts. My daughter got married at the end of April and the day before the wedding I broke my ankle!

Thankfully it is almost good as new. That is lucky because on June 3, I leave on the #PaperTrail, a month long teaching trip throughout the country in Scotty, my vintage camper.

I invite you to follow the trip with me on my blog. I will be teaching classes in scrapbook stores, attending events like the Country Living Show and a big stamp show, meeting up with crafty celebrities and seeing the country. I can't wait! Just check my blog for updates or follow me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to see where we are and what is happening.

My project today is an Art Journal made using the Mini-Album from the Cherished collection.

Although the packaging for this collection is decorated in the baby theme, the dies are very versatile. The Mini Album has been one of my favorites to work with lately. There is a metal opening built into the die that you can use with Movers and Shapers dies to cut windows in the cover of the album. This is a ScoreBoards die that is designed to cut and score thick material like matboard or chipboard- or any material up to 1/16" thick that you can cut with scissors. It always surprises people to know that you can run matboard through the Big Shot with embossing folders.

For this project, I cut two windows in the Album cover and then embossed the die cut squares with the Animal Print folder. I used the Gelli plate and my new ColorBox Blends inks from Clearsnap to ink the cover and pages of the mini-album Art Journal.

I also used Stencils from StencilGirl and embossing paste from Wendy Vecchi to get some dimension on the pages. I also free handed text on the pages and added some photos of our family. There is a special technique I use to bind the pages really quickly. I like this method because in addition to being fast and easy, the pages of the book lay flat when you are writing in them.

And now, here are some of the projects the Eileen Hull Inspiration Team has created in the past month. They blow me away!

The Inspiration Team Coordinator, Amy Bowerman, of Plucking Daisies has this thing about gnomes! Read about it on her blog...

I love this soft and shabby Caddy by Melissa Phillips. I also love what she says about hope. See the post on her blog here...

Beth Watson has made a chandelier of hydrangeas. Wow- very cool. Check out her post here.

These are just a few of the amazing projects featured on my blog by this super-talented team of designers. Check every Tuesday to see what the Inspiration Team is up to and on Thursdays you will see posts from Team ATB (Artist Trading Blocks). They have been stepping up the game so high I can't imagine how they will keep outdoing themselves, but they do! For more out of the box projects and lots of inspiration visit The Artists on the Block.

Thanks for coming by and I hope to see you on the #PaperTrail!

Welcome to the Fairytale

Hi All,

Daria is here. And today I would like to show you a card. I called this card "Welcome to the Fairytale".

Items:
Big Shot Machine (657900)
Sizzix ScoreBoards XL Die - Album, Garden Gate (658449)

I created  the base of card using Album, Garden Gate die.  I colored the images and glued them onto the card. Then I decorated the card with butterflies which I cut using Butterflight die. Also I added flowers, pearls and glitter.

Have a nice day!

Daria.

Birdhouse Ornament

Brrr....the weather is finally getting chilly. Before you know it, Christmas will be here!  I like to make a few handcrafted ornaments every year for my tree. Here's one for this season.

I used my ScoreBoard Birdhouse die to make this project from matboard. Crafting with thick material like this (up to 1/16") makes the projects you make so sturdy and able to hold up for years. I figure if I am going to the trouble of making something, I want it to last a while. Sizzix is the only company that makes dies specially designed to cut and score thick board like this. Have you tried a ScoreBoard die yet? Did you know you can also emboss matboard? Check out the fabulous metal roof!

Sizzix Supplies:
658451  Birdhouse, 3D
657114  Flower, Layers #9
658455  Basketweave and Honeycomb set
656491  Matboard pack- cream

Other Supplies:
Adhesive backed metal tape (I found this in a home improvement store in the US), text paper, bamboo skewer, metal embellishment, wooden bird from Prima, black permanent marker, Copic markers, crystal glitter, spray adhesive, glitter
  1. Coat a piece of matboard with spray adhesive and cover with dictionary paper. Lay the paper on the matboard so the direction of the text matches up with the front of the birdhouse.
  2. Remove adhesive backing from tape and place over matboard where the roof will be cut (rectangle with scalloped edges). TIP- Here's how I lay this out: place my paper and tape right side down on the die and lay the matboard piece on top, then cut) Check die for reference.
  3. Die cut birdhouse, bottom and roof. Add text and doodles with markers and color in.
  4. Coat Birdhouse and bottom with spray adhesive, then sprinkle on a layer of glitter, smoothing over with your fingers to make sure all areas are covered.
  5. Emboss roof with Basketweave embossing folder. Isn't this cool?

  6. Use markers to color wooden bird.
  7. Cut a piece of bamboo skewer to 1 1/2" and color with ink. Punch a hole below the open circle on the birdhouse and insert the skewer.

  8. Die cut 6-8 layers of the smallest flower on the die. Punch a hole in the center and secure all layers with a brad. Scrunch and ink petals. Cut leaves and glue under flower.
  9. Place embellishments on birdhouse and secure with glue.
  10. Punch a hole in the middle of the birdhouse roof and insert a wire hanger. Twist the wire around a pencil for a fun effect, then bend into a hanger shape.

  11. Add glue or strong double stick tape to the two tabs on top of the birdhouse and press roof into place.
  12. Hang on your Christmas tree!

Thanks for stopping by- see you next time...

Home Decor Holiday Ideas using a birdhouse

Hi Everyone! This is Anna.
October has come and the four seasons are going by as fast as Vivaldi has taught. It only seems fitting to post four projects I made using the XL Birdhouse, 3D. You might already know that I love to make little houses, and this one was no exception :)
It is such a sweet die! This is a ScoreBoards die, which means it is specially designed to cut thick materials like matboard and chipboard, forming sturdy, long-lasting boxes.
This is a very versatile die. If you use different sentiments and embellishments it can work for many different themes.
I decided to make a little Christmas Birdie house, an Halloween house, a Spring house and a Summer birdhouse.

These would be great as a gift. Wouldn't this make a cute favor? You can add small candies and treats.
Now it's up to you to decide which season ...

cafe creativo - sizzix big shot - birdhouse - holidays - summer

cafe creativo - sizzix big shot - birdhouse - holidays - halloween

Begin by cut out the birdhouses from cardstock and patterned paper using the Big Shot machine and Eileen Hull’s 3D Birdhouse die. Assemble house according to directions with glue.
For the Spring house: I create an embelishment with Bigz Die - Snowflake Medallions, 3-D and a butterfly of Starter Kit.
For the Summer birdhouse: I make the waves of the sea with the same die Birdhouse, the piece of roof. I create the lifesaver with dies of Starter Kit, I decorate the roof with Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die – Venice.
For the Halloween house: I used the Bigz XL Die - Card, House to create two windows and a little door. I used a border (Thinlits Die Set 659058) to ornate the roof. I added a Halloween tag to the top of the house.
For the Christmas Birdie house: I create a birdie with a leaf of Sizzlits Die - Poinsettia Swirls and I cut out also other leaves. Some snowflakes (658622), glitter cardstock and a piece of blue pom pom trim help kick off Christmas spirit.
I hope you enjoyed this projects.

Thank you for the visit!
Happy crafting!

Flag_of_Italy Per le amiche italiane! :)
Ciao!
Ecco un nuovo appuntamento con Anna.
Siamo già in Ottobre!

Watering Can Card

Today I have made a card using the Watering Can Scoreboard XL Die. This die makes an awesome box, but I wanted to try something different and also I was looking for a very modern look for it.

Supply list:
  • Silver cardstock
  • Silver corrugated cardstock
  • Paper scraps
  • Satz'on Ink
  • Color pencils
  • Stamps
  • Glossy Accents
  • Liquid glue
  • Foam squares
  • Black permanent marker

It is very simple to make a card using this Die, just die cut twice the shape of the can, glue both pieces on the handle and your card base is ready. Now it is time to embellish :)
I have used some Staz'on ink on the metallic cardstock to give some dimension and to stamp some arrows. I have stamped my sentiment on a piece of craft cardstock and colored it with simple color pencils. Finally, I have created an embellishment using the Fancy Oval Die set, and put on the card with some foam squares. As my final touch I have varnished some elements with Glossy Accents.

Happy Monday!
................................
Hoy he hecho una tarjeta utilizando el Watering Can Scoreboard XL Die.

materiales:
  • Cartulina plateada
  • Cartón corrugado plateado
  • Restos de papeles
  • Satz'on Ink
  • Lápices de colores
  • Sellos
  • Glossy Accents
  • Pegamento líquido
  • Foam adhesivo
  • Rotulador permanente negro

¡Feliz lunes!

Flowerpot party favour

As soon as I saw this Clay Pot 3-D ScoreBoard Die from Eileen Hull I fell in love with it. It is as cute as a button and it has a lot of creative possibilities.

For today, I have created a little party favour that can be used as a place sign aswell.

Supply list:
  • Cardstock: Craft, yellow, orange, pink, green, red
  • Distress Ink
  • Toothpick, tag, adhesive pearls, raffia, black pen

This little clay pot is so easy to assemble, because the Die cuts and scores everything and you can have a lot of them ready in a very little time.  To embellish it i have die cut some flowers and hand cut some little strips of green cardstock to resemble grass. Then I have made a little sign with a toothpick, a little tag and a die cut heart. To finish it I have put some candy and raffia inside the box.

Happy Monday!
........................

Materiales:
  • Cartulina: Craft, amarilla, naranja, rosa, verde y roja
  • Tinta Distress
  • Palillo, etiqueta, perlitas adhesivas, rafia, rotulador negro

¡Feliz lunes!
