One die - three ways with the Thinlits Plus Pillow Box Set

Today I was inspired by a series of projects that Sizzix recently did on one die many ways, in which 6 bloggers took this Pillow Box Thinlit set and each made a different version. (You can check them here part 1 and part 2!). But this time I wanted to highlight the fact that you can use the inner panel dies to create beautiful fronts of cards.

For this project you will need:

Sizzix Big Shot Plus Machine Only - 660020
Sizzix Pillow Box Thinlits Plus Die - 660844
Sizzix Accessory - Precision Base Plate for Intricate Thinlits Dies - 660320
Sizzix Accessory - Die Brush & Foam Pad for Wafer-Thin Dies - 660513

I took a landscape A6 folded card, and placed the intricate inside die for the pillow box and secure it with low tack tape in place (just right to the scored line). I used instead one of the cutting plates the awesome Precision Base Plate

Because there is so much detail in this die, you may have to run it two or three times through the machine. After running through machine just turn it over and check that you can see all the cut lines.

While the die is still in place, use the die brush to release all the die cut small bits. I love this brush! It comes with the black mat that  its quite static so all those pieces don't fly away.

Then I place the same die in the other part of the card. I tried to link them as closely as possible. There are many possibilities, I could have left a bigger gap  or even not die cut it at all.

Once run it through the die cutting machine, I saw that I overlapped it too much, but not too worry!

I  trimmed a piece of the same white card and stamped the message on it. Then just attached it to the front.

To finish it off, I just added the wooden hearts.

Finally I just added a contracting panel for the background. If you are wondering where would you write the message, there two options, the back of the card or make the pink paper a folded one so that you can write inside.

The box is simple, and you can add a contrast panel for the flap.

And with the other panel you can create this simple card too. As you can see a single pass through the die cutting machine

I hope this inspires you to try your dies in a different way!

Pillow Box Owl

Hello! It's Anna here to share some ideas using Sizzix products.
Today I wanted to show you two new paper projects that are really quick and easy to make.
I've seen a lot of these owls dressing up pillow box on the web, but I wanted to share my version that includes some dies of Sizzix Starter Kit.

Can you guess what tools I used to make this fun Owl Treat Holder? To make the Boxes I use the Sizzix Pillow Box die cut and my Big Shot (I love this die)!

To make the other parts of the owl I used the dies of Starter Kit. The hearts can also become wings or feet! Circles can become the eyes, eyelids and wings. I curled over the feet for a realistic perching look.
In one of the two boxes I added some eyelashes and a flower to make a "she" owl. Any box-owl it was really quick to assemble. I still think these are so cute!

Hope you like this project.

Per le amiche italiane! :)

Ciao a presto!

Ideal home show for Christmas

Last week I was invited to participate with a presentation at the Christmas Craft Theatre at the Ideal Home Show in London. The Ideal Home show is an event that takes place at the Earls Court exhibition centre and while the Christmas event takes place in November and it is a recent addition, the original Ideal Home show takes place in March and has been going on for more than a hundred years!
Of course I chose to showcase Sizzix! These were the projects I demonstrated:

They are all made with tim Holtz dies as the brief was Christmas crafting, I choose some of his latest dies. One of them is now part of my ATFCP - All Time Favourite Craft Product! - the Tattered Poinsettia die with the matching Texture Impression embossing folder.

You can see as well that I did some boxes using another of my favourite dies from the last release, which is the Pillowbox, also one of Tim's designs. It makes making a pillowbox a treat rather than something time consuming and hard to achieve.

One of the poinsettias ended up as a candle decoration. I attached the fabric (green polyester and white 100% cotton coloured with red distress inks) to cardstock to give it a bit of stability.

The lovely Leonie Pujol was the demonstrator just before me. I have known Leonie for quite a few years now, but since she moved out of London I havent since her that often. It was so great to get to see her in action in real life (and not through the TV!) She is so talented and such an inspirational person, one of the true greats of our little craft industry.

And on Sunday, Leonie was off, so Laurence Llewelyn Bowen did his thing just before me. The man is so funny and such a show man. I enjoyed it! But it was a bit daunting going on stage after him.

The show has such a lovely Christmas feel to it, with many Carol singers including a gospel choir.

The view from tthe first floor was amazing. Now I am full in the spirit of the Season!
