New exotic mini album by Karine

Hello!

Here is a new mini book with Sizzix dies. I will teach it in classes next month! If you attend the Syros cropping party, you will create this album! This project reminds us of summertime, the not-so-far-away holidays and of sunny memories!

Supply list:

Papers: Simple Stories, Scrap Plaisir, Pebbles
Alphabets: American Crafts
Cardstock: Ephéméria
Embellishments: Ephéméria, American Crafts
Stickers words: Heidi Swapp, American Crafts
Stamps: Florilèges Design, Bloomini Studio
Inks: Studio Calico

Dies:

650515 :  Sizzix Big Shot Plus Starter Kit
660320 :  Sizzix Precision Base Plate for Intricate Thinlits Dies
659573 :  Sizzix Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die-Spring Greenery
660804 :  Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 3PK-happiness-phrases

As I usually do when creating my mini books, I use my Sizzix dies here and there as finishing touches either to add some text (like here with the Thinlits Die Set 3PK-happiness-phrases dies) or to decorate with shapes.

Once all my pages are created, I cut various shapes in pattern papers or cardstock scraps!

I really like the “happiness-phrases” die set; it is perfect for a summery album. The thin words are easily cut with the precision base plate! This is a tool I particularly recommend! Then glue your words with liquid glue.

The words “Be Happy” have double purpose! You can use the letters as is or the scooped-out letters part as well! :-)

You cannot have a summery mini book without some foliage, right? Here is a tone-on-tone die cut out of sea green cardstock.

And now time for pictures to make you feel like testing these dies!

Have a lovely day,

Karine

Bonjour !

Papiers : Simple Stories, Scrap Plaisir, Pebbles
Alphabets : American Crafts
Cardstock : Ephéméria
Embellissements : Ephéméria, American Crafts
Stickers mots : Heidi Swapp, American Crafts
Tampons : Florilèges Design, Bloomini Studio
Encres : Studio Calico

Dies :

650515 :  Sizzix Big Shot Plus Starter Kit
660320 :  Sizzix Precision Base Plate for Intricate Thinlits Dies
659573 :  Sizzix Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die-Spring Greenery
660804 :  Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 3PK-happiness-phrases

Karine

"Carefree Holidays" Layout by gerry van gent

Happy Sunday Sizzix friends!

Hope you are all well and enjoying the weekend with your loved ones.
For my post today I prepared a layout where I am combining
fussy cut flowers with gorgeous Sizzix dies.

660515 Sizzix Big Shot Plus Starter Kit
660159 Sizzix Paper Punch Large Butterfly
660500 Sizzix Thinlits Die Set Intricate Tribal Florals
660220 Sizzix Thinlits Die Set Mixed Media
659573 Sizzix Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die Spring Greenery
*          *          *

Two of the butterflies have 4 layers of punched butterflies.

Instead of masking I used one of the Mixed Media dies to decorate the background.
I simply die cut it 4 times and adhered pieces behind the photos.

One small piece was used in the middle of the stamped circle.

OTHER PRODUCTS I USED:
Graphic 45 pattern papers
KaiserCraft pattern papers
The Scrapbook Diaries clear stamps
Glitz Design Giant rhinestone

"Captured Moments" Card by Gerry van Gent

Hello Sizzix friends!

It's Sunday and I am back with another project I created for you.
For today's post I prepared a card using a few Sizzix dies.

Captured Momentssiz
657900 Sizzix Big Shot Machine
658508 Sizzix Sizzlits Die Set Roses Flower Set
658221 Sizzix Originals Die Curly Gate
658551 Sizzix Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die
658711 Sizzix Sizzlits Dec. Strip Die Ironwork Gate
*      *      *

Once I die cut the stems with leaves from the Roses Flower Set I used them to decorate
the flower clusters. Before adhering them I used a white pen and drew round the edges.
N.B. The stem & leaves on the right side of the card were die cut twice and
adhered partially on top of each other.
1

From the Ironwork Gate I used only a bit as decoration.
2

The Curly Gate was die cut twice - once using white cardstock and
second time using some corrugated cardboard.
I used the corrugated cardboard die-cut as a shadow.
4

I love so much how the Mini Filmstrip turned out - I call it the "dancing" Filmstrip :-)
I glued the filmstrip fristly only in the beginning and the end.
Then I partially  adhered parts of the filmstrip to give this "dancing" feeling.
As a final touch I added the buckle.

Memories from Wrexham by Gerry

Hello Sizzix friends!

Today's project is about me :-)
I don't know about you but I often take selfies so I can share them online.
This photo is one of my favourite selfies and a special one because it was
taken in Wrexham when I visited for the first time Sizzix Europe headquarters.
And of course for my favourite photo I had to use my favourite Sizzix products!

As a base for my A4 layout I used the cardboard back of our old family agenda -
yes, I never throw cardboard! You can use it in various ways.

Love how the Spring Greenery branches match
the fussy cut branches from the pattern paper.

I used the small die-cut circles from the Tag & Bookplate to decorate
all over the layout - I simply die cut them in different colours and
adhered them on my project.
2b

I cut two small ends of the Ironwork Gate and coloured them in black.
Then I glued them on top of the other ends -
in this way I wanted to have more contrast and also
to match the rest of the "blacks" on the layout.
2c

I die cut the doily by using two different pattern papers.
One of the pattern papers I used for the doily itself and
the circle where I stamped the quote.
From the black pattern paper I used only the circle for the layout.
I cut into two and used half underneath the other as a shadow.

Other Products I used:
Webster's Pages Pattern Paper
Stamps - Donna Downey, Pink Paisley, Prima Marketing
A fussy cut bird - Prima Marketing pattern paper

I hope you enjoyed my project today!

Christmas layout by Karine

Hello,

Here is today’s program: a seasonal page with traditional matching colours and a touch of gold!

Supply list:

Papers: Elle's Studio, My Mind's Eye
Cardstock: American Crafts
Dymo label writer: Miss Clic
Doily: Crate Paper
Masking Tape
Stamp: Jenni Bowlin Mercantile
Ink: Black Versafine
Others: Golden twine

Dies:

658300 : Sizzix Big Shot Starter Kit
659426 : Sizzix Decorative Strip Die-Bow-Tied
660058 : Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 17pk-holiday-words-script

This is a very easy lay-out to create, with two horizontal pictures of the same size. A touch of whimsy is brought thanks to the right amount of gold elements (doily, twine and the My Mind’s Eye pattern paper).

The word NOEL (so happy to have a French word now in my favourite dies) is cut out of kraft cardstock. It is so thin that you may want to glue it with a spray or a stick.

I enjoyed using this pretty knot cut out of white cardstock. It brings volume and is a symbol that makes us remember about the numerous pretty presents that will be waiting for us under the Christmas tree this year!

Have a lovely Thursday,

Karine

Bonjour,

Une petite page de saison avec des couleurs classiques assorties d'un soupçon de doré, voici le programme du jour !

Matériel :

Papiers : Elle's Studio, My Mind's Eye
Cardstock : American Crafts
Dymo : Miss Clic
Napperon : Crate Paper
Masking Tape
Tampon : Jenni Bowlin Mercantile
Encre : Versafine noire
Divers : Cordelette dorée

Dies utilisés :

658300 : Sizzix Big Shot Starter Kit
659426 : Sizzix Decorative Strip Die-Bow-Tied
660058 : Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 17pk-holiday-words-script

Karine

Perfect 10

It is ten years to the day since my wonderful girlfriend became my wonderful wife. She is probably the only woman in the UK who gets dragged into craft shops by her husband so I thank her for her patience and understanding.

She does get a special handmade card every birthday/Christmas/Valentines/anniversary and she has amassed quite a collection thus far. I have made her a special card this time but I also wanted to commemorate the occasion with a little piece of framed art, the making of which I would like to share with you today.

Once again I reached for the new Jillibean Soup collection of dies and folders because I LOVE IT! but more importantly because I think she will too. I haven't itemised the dies used but if you follow the link above you will get to see them all together as it should be.

I also used the new Block Talk Lowercase alphabet die by Tim Holtz and the Decorative Strip die Antiqua Numbers by Brenda Walton which is one of my favourite go-to dies for birthday cards because it has what I like to think of as a contemporary vintage vibe! which is an oxymoron which makes perfect sense to me (and me alone probably!).

I attached a square of pure white card to a 7 inch (just over 17 cm) square of mount board before die-cutting the number 10 from thin white paper and attaching to the board with low tack spray adhesive. I then proceeded to apply Distress Ink with an applicator, this was built up gradually blending the blue and the green (Broken China and Shabby Shutters) and the orange and red in the top right (Wild Honey and Worn Lipstick). Next, I took two Distress Paint daubers  and watered the colours to a milky consistency.

After strategically splattering the paint onto the square with the paint brush I pealed off the die-cut numbers and traced around the masked area with a fine black marker pen, it doesn't have to be too accurate.

All the decorative paper used comes from a 6" x 6" paper pad from Basic Grey featuring the fab Hipster collection and I used a sheet of pale green patterned paper to cover some scrap mount board before using it to die-cut the letters for the word 'perfect' which I then attached to the square above the numbers. That extra dimension really makes all the difference for me.
Now, this is where things get a bit crazy, random, scatter shot... take your pick!!

I knew what I wanted to do with the photo which I printed from my PC before trimming into a Polaroid style shape before adding a few stamped sentiments using my Dear Lizzy roller stamp. After that it was just a question of cutting, stamping, sanding, inking and folding a seemingly disparate collection of designs in the vain hope that they might work together on the page... I'll let you be the judge.
Here is the finished frame, you can see that I mounted the square into the centre of a box frame bought from IKEA (I think?) I spent a long time moving the various die cut elements around the page before I found a pleasing composition which for me is all part of the fun!

Every thing is attached using double sided tape or 3D foam pads adding a sense of depth and dimension, you will also notice a random smattering of adhesive pearls/gems in a selection of hues and sizes.

I hope you like it but more importantly, I hope my wife does too!

Here is a bit of close-up detail.
