Clean & Simple Butterfly Card

As you may already know, I love everything Clean & Simple. Today I want to share with you my latest card, that can be used for many things.

To create this card you need very few supplies, just some card, black ink, and a little embellishment. I have used some leather cord and a charm, but you can use whatever you have on hand: some ribbon, a button, baker's twine... Just be creative!!

Happy Monday!
.............................

¡Feliz lunes!

who lives in a house like this?

Look at this fantastic quilt made from Tula Pink fabric. Isn't it great? It was made using Sizzix dies (of course!) by Nik of the cotton patch and they sell a kit so you can make your own. This is a wall hanging (32" square) but I think it'd be a great baby quilt, and these colours are gender neutral so perfect for a boy or a girl.

There's a fantastic brochure on using the big shot that you can download from the cotton patch store too, which is perfect for anyone just starting out and wanting more information. Plus, the customer service there is unbeatable - if you haven't shopped there before, give them a try!

Flag_of_Italy Per le amiche italiane! :)

Ciao!
Per farlo andate qui: Free Paper Downloads for Mother's Day .

Card Cuore
Materiali:
cardstock
scrap of pink felt
vellum paper
spray ink
sequins
lace trim

Because she truly is worth it.....

This week - in preparation for Mother's Day - 3 quick and easy projects for that Special Mum.

Because lots of Mums like a cup of tea - a new tea cosy, coaster and mug warmer - you can make all or just one of them. I chose bright fun fabrics from my stash - but you could make it from your bits basket - it's the love that's it's made with that counts!
For the projects I obviously used my Big Shot and dies - 2" finished square - http://www.sizzix.co.uk/product/657607/sizzix-bigz-die-square-2-finished-2-1-2-unfinished or for even quicker cutting, use this die that cuts 4 squares at a time -  http://www.sizzix.co.uk/product/658321/sizzix-bigz-l-die-squares-2-finished-2-1-2-unfinished
For the tea cosy I cut 70 x 2" finished square.
For the coaster - 4 squares, and for the mug warmer 4 squares and 6 half-square triangles.
I made a card template for the tea cosy, after measuring the teapot -

and pieced 2 rectangles 5 rows by 7, for the front and back of the cosy.

I cut 2 pieces of wadding and 2 pieces of cotton fabric for lining, slightly larger than the pieced patchwork.
I layered the patchwork right side up on top of the wadding and then covered it with the lining,
pinned and then stitched a 1/4" seam across the bottom of the patchwork, repeat once more with the other piece.
Press the lining to the back, pin all 3 layers together and trim to the shape of the template -
Pin the front and the back of the cosy together and attach a binding around the raw edges.

The coaster is 4 squares joined together and then layered with wadding and backing and then a binding is used to finish the raw edges.

For the mug warmer use 4 squares and 6 triangle - join as shown in the photo -
Layer the wadding and backing and then bind as for the other projects. Add a square of Velcro to the points of the mug warmer - one on the front and one on the back .
Projects completed - these took me less than 4 hours to complete - so there really is time to sew something for Mum.
Next week I'm off on my travels again - this time to the Creative Stitching show at ExCel, London.
So if you're in the Docklands area of London during 3rd - 5th April come and see me, and join in a workshop, on stand Y08
Now I'm going to start cutting the workshop kits for the show - so please come and use them.
Angela

Summer and Colourful layout !

Hello!

Today I’m back with a page realized with Gesso, a stencil, a foliage die and colours!

Supply list:

Cardstock: American Crafts
Spray inks: Tattered Angels
Pencils: Woody Stabilo
Stamps: Glitz Design, Paper Artsy, Florilèges Design
Stencils: The Crafter's Workshop, Pause Créative
Stickers, glitters: Pause Créative
Others: Gesso, sequins

Die:

659436 Sizzix Bigz Die-Garden Greens

How is it possible to start from a white cardstock and have a such colourful lay-out in the end? It’s quite simple! Apply gesso on the whole surface of your cardstock (preferably a white one) and let it dry in the open.
Then choose one or more stencils and make the patterns stand out by applying gesso on the stencils with an old plastic loyalty card. Let it dry again!

While it dries, cut a nice foliage die out of white paper with your Big Shot. Then spray your foliage die with green ink and let it dry in the open.

Now it’s time to add colours! With the help of soft pencils (Neocolors II or Woody from Stabilo), apply the colour generously then add water with a wet pencil for a watercolour effect. Play with several colours to have a sparkling result!

Add embellishments & stamps to refine your work!

Have a lovely day!

Karine

Bonjour !

Cardstock : American Crafts
Encres en spray : Tattered Angels
Crayon : Woody Stabilo
Tampons : Glitz Design, Paper Artsy, Florilèges Design
Pochoir : The Crafter's Workshop, Pause Créative
Stickers, paillettes : Pause Créative
Divers : Gesso, sequins

Die :

659436 Sizzix Bigz Die-Garden Greens

Karine

Say it with....

....Framelits. Mum's all over the country would like nothing better this Sunday morning than a set of Framelits...... or Flowers or even chocolates..... if in doubt, all three!

I wanted to do something bright and fun for a Mother's Day card for my wife from our 3 year old daughter Poppy so I went for lots of white space and 'less is more' design style.

I started with a handful of Framelits dies, a couple of circles, a scalloped circle and a ticket. The paper I used is from a 6 x 6 paper pad by Doodlebug Design called Sugar & Spice.

I used my PC to print a photo of my daughter Poppy and cut it out with a Framelits circle before mounting it into the centre of a pink Scalloped circle. Next, I die cut four pieces of coloured card using the larger Framelits circle.

To create the leaves I folded each circle in half and placed the circle die in such a way that when I re-cut the folded circle it created the double leaf effect. Next I drew a pencil line as a guide on the white base card and moved the separate leaves around until I felt that the balance was right, I then gently curled the leaves and attached them to the card. I again used my PC to print out the phrase 'World's Best Mummy' and cut it using the small ticket Framelits die before punching a hole in one end and attaching an eyelet tied with string.

Here is the finished card, as you can see, I have added a strip of green card as the stalk and attached the ticket/tag using a 3D foam pad. Simple!

inspiration is everywhere

Don't you find quilt ideas all over? I'm forever taking quick pictures with my phone of brick walls, or tiled floors and adding them to my list of one day if I ever find the time quilts to make.

It happened this weekend with this fabric (it's from Michale Miller, paintbox by Cynthia Rowley).....

which would be an amazing quilt made from the half square triangles dies using this stack of fabrics...

What about you? Have you seen anything that has inspired you to make a quilt design? What was it? Have you made it or is it still filed in your brain like so many of my inspiration ideas?
