JAMEGUMB - A Mental Health Evaluation

The very first offering from Jamegumb. The second release (Pederasty) ,is already posted on this blog somewhere's! This is one ,over 40 minutes, track ,full of feedback ,synth doodles, primal screaming ,and incessant drones. Sure to clear any room of your choice ,and you'll need what the album title suggests ,if you listen too closely. Good for backround ambience ,but equally great at full blast ,as you careen thru the streets in your tin can! There's a new noise scene in Grunge-land ,and it's being led by folks like Jamegumb ,Skindust , Teenage Mustache ,and other less visible bands. This is music to shit to!

SLUGGISHA'S THRIFT STORE - Volume # 10

What can I say? Mel Henke ,synth/moog stuff, christians that are dumb, soundtracks from movies you'll never see, harpists, hippies ,men's fashions, comedians, children's records,Chubby Checkers' illegal brother , "Tubby Chess",washboards,Dracula,Us Airforce KP, Anthony Newley (with a rendition of "Pop Goes The Weasel" that I personally guarantee to be the best you'll ever hear in a life time!!) ,and tons more foolhardy picks from my massive collection of thrift store records. Man , I remember the good ol' days ,walk up to the thrift store counter ,with a huge pile of discarded vinyl ,and offering up 10 or 20 bucks ,and filling the trunk of my car with said goodies! Trust me ,those days are gone! Get your culture right here friends!!

SLOP CAKE - Disregard Banjo Tones , Entropy Dilemma

More lo-fi ,instrumental strangeness from Food. Some of this really kicks into high gear, after the initial lo-fi start. Some crazy synth stuff starts up,and it continues like that for the full 20 tracks. No really long numbers, the longest is under 3 minutes. Really cool to play in the backround when thinking , while equally accesible for the dance floor (on the moon ,in 3788 A.D. !!!) Get it!

ANAL PAIN - Six Inches

Weird, computer produced, syncopated keyboard doom/tard/metal ,led by death metal vocals, and low growl spoken pieces, this sounds to me like the pop/scum/grindcore split e.p. ,that G G Allin and Seth Putnam ,never got to make together! The singing is a cross of both those guys, and the spoken stuff sounds like G G's stuff with Shrinkwrap, and his jailhouse diatribes.Really demented and funny ,with some synthesized metal riffs. There's even a cover of Guns And Roses ,"Welcome To The Jungle" , re-tooled here as ,"Welcome To BoJangles" ,with hilarious vocals and lyrics.Another big change-up here is ,"Oi,Oi,Vegemoi" ,where the vocals and viewpoint, are from that of an Aussie. And that cover art is something else! Holy crap!
Thanks to Bob L. for sending this in to post, and maybe he can give us more info and insight into this weirdcore band?!?!

THE OMELETTE EMPORIUM

Yet another new band, recently discovered off the coast of Daytona Beach ,FL. The Paper Cut Guy(pictured above),is an accomplished synthesizer master, and he takes you on a trip thru the outer space in his inner mind.Obscure references to Mayan prophecies and pizza delivery techniques are explored in the song titles. An instrumental outing, keyboard solos, without a beat. Not following the beat of a different drum, there's no drums at all! Just the sweet strains of The Paper Cut Guy at The Omelette Emporium!

MICHAEL ALTON GRIFFIN-excerpts from the chip davis archives

this solo artist is heavily into orgonomics, and power electronics.some of this reminds me of 80's synth and new wave, mostly cabaret voltaire and d.a.f.,but i hear other influences as well.some spoken parts, guy gentry guests on guitar on one track, jimmy cochrane on keys on another track, very intriguing and nostalgic, reminds me of the 80's,waiting around some downtown area anywhere in florida, for the club to open for the punk show we were going to see.mike wrote some notes to this ,in the zip file.i have a tape of a few of his bands, schmutzigmuzik, vitreous humor, and gutbucket, that i will post at another time, none of which sound anything like this.very futuristic and spacey, yet old wave/new wave, the 80's is the decade that's repeating now, right?,so this is kinda topical!very enjoyable listen.
