A brand new split release from Seattle's Dead Ken Frilly and his one-man band Teenage Mustache ,and old-time tardcore king ,Satan Peabody and his one-man band ,The Blood Red Oscars! Teenage Mustache is funny ass stupid shit ,more tardcore than usual,with a cover of Black Sabbath. My pick hit here is ,"Vacationing On The Sun" ,but the whole thing is great! The Blood Red Oscars ,return to recording ,besides appearing on compilations for the last few years ,this is the first full-length (oh,yeah ,it's a split!) ,of new shit from Satan Peabody ,in years!!
5 songs are covers of :Beat Happening ,Motley Crue ,Bobby McFerrin ,LMFAO ,and Sockeye! Along with 8 new original songs ,including the hit ,"It's 2012 ,Punch A Mayan In The Face".

BLOODPONIES - Universal Nerve Thing

3 wandering minstrel-like tracks ,that once again are culled from the same well as early David Jones (later name-change to Bowie ,as to distinguish himself from the singer of the then popular Monkees!) .Kinda sounds as if these tracks were recorded in the atmosphere shown in the cover art. Floating above the Earth in a tin can ,singing and playing away ,like there's no tomorrow (and maybe there's not!). Bitchin' stuff from a prolific artist ,man this guy gets around!

GAINMAS - Loduten

Dylan's beautiful drone band. This is split into 3 untitled pieces ,which together form the symphony , Loduten. The first part is mellow drony goodness ,the second piece is teetering on the edge of controlled feedback ,and the third chunk is ethereal in it's ringing drone tone. Another fine product from Dylan's, Lady Anthropophagus Unincorporated imprint. Once again ,real thinking man's music.

ARTHUR MCBRATNEY - The Lost Tapes

Arthur ,older brother to Patrick ,of Lava Church Records, recorded all these snippets and songs ,over the years.There are seconds long drum beat pieces ,and up to 14 minute noise jams.Many musical genres are explored ,from New-Order-ish keyboardy things ,to ska to hardcore ,to metal ,to pensive ,somber ,and quieter pieces. A 2 disc journey into the mind of a mentor (to Li'l bro Patrick ,and now maybe to many other folks out there!) ,and it's interesting and always moving ,and makes for great listening in any kind of weather situation! There's also some great liner notes in the zip ,Patrick's note to his brother,which is touching. I've had it on my mp3 player for a week ,and there it will stay til' I am satisfied!Thanks Patrick and Arthur!

SKINDUST - Flora Peters Goes To High School

The latest from the Northwest madmen! This is kinda like an audio documentary of a high school girl's life. With a few funny commercial advertising breaks.This is different than their previous releases ,a bit more subdued ,and perhaps more interesting ,because of it.I don't know ,I listened to this today at work ,and I'm still dumbfounded, or maybe that's the beer kickin' in!

BLOODPONIES - Whores

One of my favorite releases from Dylan ,yet! A bunch of experimental sounds ,tied together with actual songs ,and no track list ,as it all blends into one long ,continuous track! Reminds me of one of my own solo outings ,Salem Curbing (download those 2 tapes ,somewhwere on this blog ,as mindblowing as this Bloodponies stuff!). An acapella rendering of Harry Belafonte's ,"Day-O"(The Bannana Boat Song) ,is made even better ,with some extra added noise/sounds ,to rev it up a bit!Broke up into sides A and B ,side B ends with the strains of Neil Young's warbly vocalizing. Great stuff from start to finish,I'll be listening to this for the next week or so!

HORRORDACTYL - Destroying Music

Another compilation of Horrordactyl ,the U.K. sensation ,this time doing all his own material ,and including a brand new ,recently recorded number ,"Samhain 2011". There is also Annie ,who may or may not be the spawn of Justin(Horrordactyl) ,singing on one track ,and playing drums on another track. There's tons more of this stuff ,with no end in sight ,as of yet. A melange of industrial,pop,noise,metal,punk,weirdness ,that really can't compare to any other band.I'll be posting lots more of Justin's bands ,including the one above this post ,Chihuahua Zycantah ! He will also be sending in some tracks for the upcoming Cat Machine tribute disc ,and Sluggisha's Xmastravaganza III ,can't hardly wait to hear those ones! His Butthole Surfers covers comp (on this blog!) got over 100 downloads so far ,and his 3 part "Plays Everybody's Songs" covers comp. got over 30 downloads apiece! I put the ?,after the title,cuz the cover has so many things that could be the title,i went for a fortune cookie message,:Learn Chinese-Hen-Men-Very Boring,which is far from an apt description of this tape.Wes continues to paint masterpieces of homeland america,on this one.If you listened to any music between 1985-and now,this will appeal to you.I know folks like the chipmunk,Tony and Joel,Billy,Shane,and others,would love this stuff.An indie-punk's wet dream.This is from Unread Records & Tapes,when they were in GA.

WILLIAM WESLEY & THE TINY SOCKETS-the teething tapes-2005-07

This was the first recording i heard from my pal Wes,of Pounding Mill,(formerly of Paint Lick)Virginia.he's building him a building right now,on his dad's land,to live in.A very prolific performer,he plays out live a lot,and has been a lot of places.This disc is a comp from several releases:"You're Older Than Your Teeth","Second Serving","Split with Albert Fish & the Presbyterian Church",I Don't Ever Want To See Your Face Again",a track from a Chaotic Underworld noise comp.,and a bunch of unreleased stuff.To me ,I hear Box Elder-era Pavement,with Daniel Johnston on vocals.Even the song titles and lyrics are very Daniel Johnston to the max!Very indie/alt,lotsa noisieness,but it's like noise-pop,not so annoying you would turn it off,more than likely you would turn it UP!!!And the little phone calls,skits,audio verite, in between,during,and after songs ,presents a real slice of americana,best heard thru open kitchen windows ,with pies cooling on the ledge.A true American underground legend,a real folk singer ,for now times.Try this out for size,along with the above posts,Wes will be sending more stuff.He also appears on,"We Want Our Life Back-The BP Oil Protest Compilation",below,with a jingly little tune ,that passes by like a caffiene breeze. visit Wes and be his friend on myspace at:www.myspace.com/thetinysockets
