So ,here's a super duo of myself and John of Kaagootaabaa ,amongst other things,He's in North Carolina and sent me some guitar lines to which I added bass,drums,keys,and vocals. I,further south in Florida, sent him music tracks to sing on,as well,and we came up with this in 2012.Grimy,grungy,punk rock weirdness with covers of  Question Mark and the Mysterians,Mentors,GG Allin,Tommy James and the Shondells,Johnny Thunders,Black Flag ,and Antiseen!!! ONE FELL SWOOP with BLACK NERD - Live at the Draft House 1/31/1992

This is a re-post of a previously posted tape.(back in 2009) This time I give you the flyer for the actual show ,with our original logo and mascot(see above,duh!),plus Billy and Shane were at the Edison Mall ,handing out flyers to the show ,and Dave from Wendy's ,was on a book signing tour ,and Billy handed him a flyer ,which he then placed on the table in front of him.It can be seen in the pic above ,which was on the front page of our local ,Ft. Myers News-Press newspaper! How's that for publicity? The following is from the original posting ,where all is explained!:

Me,Joel and Chipmunk,in our little alt-rock trio,me and Chip on guitars,Joel on drums,except when he sings,me on drums,we all sing,mostly me.i wrote the lyrics and we cover,Flamin'Groovies,the Fall,Syd Barrett,Hendrix,Stooges,Sonic Youth,Led Zeppelin,and Black Flag.Kinda Electric Eels style,no bass,just guitars.we sound much different live,with a real drum kit,instead of our usual kit(see other One Fell Swoop posts for details)and the flyer on the other post is for this show ,the flyer on this post is for a show a week later,Black Nerd opened for us(re-posted below!),and we had a big crowd of locals who were rather pissed at my intro to"Red Letter Day"when i razz Nirvana for their sell out video(smells like...)on mtv at the time,lots of folks walked out after i make my comments,oh well,they missed the rest of a hell of a good show!We aquired a residence as the house band at the Draft House for some time after this.I was the one who got them to let us play and start a scene in our crappy little town.Kinda busted open the floodgates for a million embryo alt rock bands and punks to play and hang out, before that downtown was just drunken bums hangin at the bar.Lots more live tapes to come.The first track is an improv,which we usually used to apply to a regular set list,we'd always do a few improv jams.A fine document of a fantastic band,stay tuned for more! ONE FELL SWOOP - Nubiles Galore

On this ,their final home recording (next up is the live gig tapes ,from the Draft House and other locales!) the trio is joined by Sean Sommers ,and a few "real" nubiles ,Shannon and T.J. This day also saw the one-off recording of a side band ,Li'l Shavers (found elsewhere on this blog) There is also one long-lost track (Pull The Trig) ,recorded in Cape Coral at Mumsy's ,by Count Vance ,with Ed,Joel,& Chipmonk playing ,and Eric "Trig" Triglet, on vocals and mini vacuum ,which I will locate and post ,soon! On this particular recording ,tho' , Black Flag's "Nothing Left Inside" leads it off ,followed swiftly by the golden oldie ,"Shave And A Haircut" ,and then runs thru 6 more college-rock tunes ,and ends with a lo-fi voyeristic track ,"Packin' It In (With The Meat Puppets) ,wherein the core trio talks about several issues and the upcoming Meat Puppets show. A great band ,spun off from the mighty Cat Machine! You deserve everything that's coming to you! I'm talking directly to you ,the listener! Hope you take my tip! RAYMOND PETTIBON WITH SUPER SESSION - Torches And Standards

Extremely weird stuff here from Thurston Moore's imprint ,Blast First , featuring art and vocals from Black Flag artist ,and brother of Greg Ginn ,Raymond Pettibon. The band is a host of SST regulars ,Dave Markey ,Mike Kelley, and others. A few songs focus on Ricky Nelson ,and one even adopts some of Ricky's hit ,"Garden Party"! There is also a cover of John Coltrane's ,"Love Supreme" The picture disc ,and the album-sized art book insert ,are great pieces of art ,in themselves ,with Pettibon's usual style and captions. I really can't tell you exactly what's going on here ,because I truthfully don't know! Confusing and strangely obtuse.

ONE FELL SWOOP - Sounds Like Drugs

The boys are back again ,this time for drugs! Another fab guitar freak-out number ,
"Breakfast Claw Butter Horn" ,showing off Chipmonk's prowess on the axe. All 3 "College Rock Hits" ,are included here (Cares Are Oceans Away , Mushrooms , Goils) ,as well as other psych/indie/alt-rock numbers. One of the dumbest bands of all time!  ,there is much to redeem this,their second LP.(The first one, self-titled,is available on this here blog,somewhweres).You have some poetry readings,some of their trademark Jazz/scat numbers,some more episodes of The Bob and Jerry show,parodies of 70's/80's TV commercials,crazy instrumentals that will trip you out (wear headphones!),a drum solo with a fat guy snoring on top of it,and covers of : The Misfits (Brian "Snax" Siders (R.I.P.) on drums and back-up vocals),Motorhead, 7 Seconds, and Black Flag! usually if you do a search for CHICKENHEAD on the web you get some kinda crappy rap song,but not anymore,now that we have this post,a tribute of a bygone era,went too fast.this is the kind of 7 " that would make ashey slamdance thru the house.

THE MOSHHAWKS

the MOSHHAWKS were a crossover band before crossover existed.back in high school i was the only punk and i hung out with metalheads and stoners.my idea was always to combine punk and metal to please both crowds.then metallica,megadeth,slayer an others arrived on the scene to use my idea.the guitar style i was going for was a greg ginn/ace frehley sound.you can hear that in here as well as influences like d.r.i.,black flag,black sabbath,minor threat,misfits,g.g.,etc.not in chronological order,the recording and sound quality varies.it's kinda like:skate punk metal thrash mosh horror rock.lots of topics are covered,fat chicks,beer,bongs,outer space,vampires,death,satan,suicide,pigs(cops),zombies,skating ,surfing,self-abuse,h/c lifestyle etc.i had a mohawk and anthrax just started mosh music  i combined the two for an original hair and band name.there are some straight out hard core and punk songs as well as metal tunes and an amalgamation of the 2 genres.don't be put off by anything here,just listen and i'll take you back to the mid to late 80's and you'll like it.mostly me on all instr.and vox.full band had skullz on bass and snax on drums.still have more of this exciting band to post and i will.this is something people have been searching for and requesting so i thought i'd oblige and post it.also a special shout out to my biggest fan,christian "ashey"macdonald. enjoy! Terrorist rock of the highest order,these guys only performed in ski masks while brandishing weapons.Mad Asshole on bass and vocals,Big Black Cock on guitar,and Shaggy Dick on drums,this stuff was recorded in the twilight time,at Club Black Nerd.All improv ,1-2-3-go! style,and it works like a charm,last track is a bonus ,live at the Draft House at One Fell Swoop's last show,just 1-2-3-go and we started a band.Covers of Rik L Rik,Black Flag,GG Allin,Angry Samoans,Sonic Youth,Simpletones,Ramones.Think Drunks With Guns meets Flipper and they have a pot of tea and listen to the first 7 Black Sabbath albums,it's that good.More to come,sadly no live vids or audio,only got one gig,due to name,announced on FM radio by Naughty Nikki,as the band so nasty we can't say their name on the air.She showed up and we delayed the show cuz we wouldn't play till she left.She asked me,"when are you gonna play"? ,to which I replied,"with myself,tonite"!A kid in the audience stood in front of me as I sang and bassed and in between songs I asked him if he liked K-Rock.he said yes and I whipped out a seemingly real pistol and pointed it at his face,I swear the guy looked like he had a heart attack,all in good fun.I dressed in docs,ski mask,gold lame' briefs and that's all.Still have rehearsal tape of said gig,Cape Coral demos,and more,check this out and kill!
