WGOD - SPECIAL EDITION PODCAST - LOS PUNKS : WE ARE ALL WE HAVE -UNAUTHORIZED SOUNDTRACK TO THE FILM

Have you seen the film ,"Los Punks - We Are All We Have"?? Seek it out before ,or after hearing this podcast for a look at a burgeoning underground backyard party punk scene that's been going on in South Central East Los Angeles ,for some time now! This is the unofficial, unauthorized soundtrack to that film,as one is not yet available, nor may it ever be.Hopefully, this podcast gives a glimpse into a small scene that is being ,and has been, repeated the world over ,since the advent of punk rock music. Most of the fans and bands in this riveting documentary, sport mohawks, liberty spikes, patches of uk street punk bands on their leathers or denims, chains, boots, spikes, and in sound some of these bands ape the uk street punk scene in it's mid -80's heyday ,but the influence of West LA ,Venice bands ,can't be denied,or overlooked. Some of the bands here have the classic "Suicidal" sound ,while others have taken the crossover-thrash metal sound ,farther into metal territories ,some even branching out into death or black metal.A lot of the interviewees in the film ,either band members or fans of the scene ,echo the same sentiments as o.g. punks did in the day ie: Punk saved my life, punk is an attitude, punk accepted me when others wouldn't ,punk rock gave me a family ,etc. The movie's subtitle ,comes from The Casualties,a NYC band that started in 1990.Their 2009 album is titled "We Are All We Have ",and it is one of the songs from that lp.The band appears and performs in the film, and they too, have that uk street punk ala Exploited,GBH,Cockney Rejects ,type of sound and look ,that a lot of the latinos in the film are inspired by..Punk rock is life ,and has been mine since 1975 ,when first reading about the New York Dolls ,The Ramones, and other happenings in NY (in CREEM magazine!) ,and the scene beginning in the UK at the time. Please, enjoy this special edition of WGOD  ,and if you do anything else before you die, make sure that seeing this film is on that bucket list! Thanks to Angela Boatwright for bringing this documentary to life, and to Nacho for catalyzing a vibrant music scene!

THE BRAINDEAD-dead

a 4 song demo from these kirkland,washington death-thrash metalheads.bonus unlisted 5th track is live.has a punk edge,almost crossover,due to vocals.i like track 4,'cuban necktie',cuz the drummer sings,and better than the lead singer.can't really draw comparisons,they kinda got their own groove goin'.samples from full metal jacket,up in smoke,and other instructional films.worth a listen,check it out!

BIONIC GROOVE ALLIANCE

this is a hip hop funk rap metal band, with brophy on drums.i don't know the other members, but they seem to have an orlando connection.kinda like i imagine what mike muir's funk metal band sounded like,or any rap metal crossover band from the 90's.click here for link:http://www.mediafire.com/file/0dglnnj4kog/BIONIC GROOVE ALLIANCE.zip

PIGTALES

like kindergarden terror, brian is here with his obnoxious vocal style, mike is on drums and dug on guitar.a punk trio to be reckoned with.just funny lyrics(like kindergarden terror)about everything from slayer("slayer sucks"),to nursery rhymes("mary had a little lamb"),to the blues("bearhead blues",and"boxcar blues").i even found a bonus track in the form of the tape they used was taped over one of those "guy in the mall playing the keys at a music store" type of keyboards, with a little tune dingling on there,at the end of the tape.great laffs, and punk rockin as hell.obvious crossover sound, they got the crowd chantin,"fuck slayer,f-f-f-f-fuck slayer!"art by brian again i believe.link here:http://www.mediafire.com/file/iimtimjymzy/PIGTALES.zip

KINDERGARDEN TERROR

on the heels of the tribute to the memory of cort post, here are some of cort's best friends,in a late 80's punk band.almost crossover sound on some tracks.mike smith,drums-dug boone,guitar-jim,bass-brian reed,vocals-and richard on additional and back up vox.brian, who later became a mellow deadhead,is one of the most obnoxious singers of all time.some stand out tracks include:"oh yeah","joe","king tut",and "cookies".art by brian,me thinks.if you like punk or crossover you will love this.related to pigtales in the post above this.clickhere for link:http://www.mediafire.com/file/zi1cr2zz2ht/KINDERGARDEN TERROR.zip

THE MOSHHAWKS

the MOSHHAWKS were a crossover band before crossover existed.back in high school i was the only punk and i hung out with metalheads and stoners.my idea was always to combine punk and metal to please both crowds.then metallica, megadeth, slayer an others arrived on the scene to use my idea.the guitar style i was going for was a greg ginn/ace frehley sound.you can hear that in here as well as influences like d.r.i.,black flag, black sabbath, minor threat,misfits,g.g.,etc.not in chronological order, the recording and sound quality varies.it's kinda like:skate punk metal thrash mosh horror rock.lots of topics are covered, fat chicks, beer, bongs, outer space, vampires, death, satan, suicide, pigs(cops),zombies, skating ,surfing,self-abuse,h/c lifestyle etc.i had a mohawk and anthrax just started mosh music  i combined the two for an original hair and band name.there are some straight out hard core and punk songs as well as metal tunes and an amalgamation of the 2 genres.don't be put off by anything here, just listen and i'll take you back to the mid to late 80's and you'll like it.mostly me on all instr.and vox.full band had skullz on bass and snax on drums.still have more of this exciting band to post and i will.this is something people have been searching for and requesting so i thought i'd oblige and post it.also a special shout out to my biggest fan, christian "ashey"macdonald. enjoy!
