AUGUST SPIES - LP

In their only LP ,Massachussetts August Spies ,re-records a lot of earlier numbers and lays down some new anarchist punk songs.With covers of GG Allin and The Avengers, and Ashey on vox and guitar,this band is a punk force to be reckoned with.Veterans of the punk scene,they have opened for more big-name punk bands than you can count on your fingers(and toes!)Some of their finest moments are caught on this release,tho' some of these did have more punk furor on the original demo tapes.Ashey's mom was the cover model,and was apparently the coolest punk mom on the scene!This is the sound of anarchy! If you claim to be a true punk ,and you have not yet heard August Spies,I don't know how you can make that claim! Ashey is punk's "everyman" ,and his lyrics defend that notion. Ashey's singin' on this one ,in his highly identifiable style,while Jenny ,his girl ,is on drums, playing songs which lyrically focus on high school memories ,such as :"Peer Pressure" ,"Oxyclean" ,"Pride In Your School","Baby In The Toilet At The Prom" ,and more related subjects.  Another Chris "Ashey" MacDonald related band ,with he on bass again,and this time with his fiance Jenny on vocals ,and Jeremy (now with the 4 Sids !) on drums ,plus girl guitarist ,Crystal.Once again ,as is most of Ashey's output ,UK punk influenced! THE 4 SIDS -demos

The 4 SIDS ,bring the old school punk sound from Massachussetts ,with a tinge of UK snarling,also evident in their cover song choice of "Kill" ,by erstwhile  1977 UK punk jesters , Albertos Y Los Trios Paranoias ,which leads off this 6 song demo cd,( on the Peel Sessions ,for Albertos Y Los Trios Paranoias, there is a track named ,"Sid's Song" recorded just 3 months before the release of their first single ,which may be a good choice for the 4 SIDS to cover on the next one! Maybe re-name it ,"4 Sids Song" !! that would be cool!) The rest of this demo is just as punk and cool,retaining that same UK sound throughout! THE ALLSTONIANS - Goodnight Daniel b/w Allston,Mass/Grey Afternoon

Third wave ska band from Allston,Mass. ,that owes much to the Specials and the Skatelites. I know they put out 3 lp's ,but this single is a conundrum. Not listed in any of their discographies (in fact no singles are listed at all!) , this must be a rare piece. Got it at a place called Java Town ,a small record shop/band space ,that catered to the kids of Ft. Myers ,for a limited part of time. Kinda sleepy ,and nowhere near as good as the aforementioned bands!

THE DICK PANTHERS - Women's Lib

This one is quite a bit more country -tinged ,than the one below,and a hint of gospel sneaks in as on that disc ,but don't fear,it's dumb! After the first several numbers there is a trippy spoken thing ,with suitably trippy accompaniment , "Cars" , while just following that is , " Sha Na Na" ,a foul-mouthed 50's tribute, then it gets weirder with , "Rainbow Worl' " ,which is hilarious ,and it ends with ,"Scandalous" ("Goodbye To You" ,by Scandal) ,which sounds like a female vocalist doing karaoke? I don't know ,just download it ,man!

THE DICK PANTHERS - Eternal Biological Conflict

My new pals , The Dick Panthers ,sent in some discs to post! I'll start here ,they all stick to the same basic sound,with enough interesting diversions in music and vocals ,to make you wanna hear it again and again! First off, most of the subject matter has to do with religion and /or masturbation,the music is well-recorded ,and obviously played by folks ,that are too talented to be playing tardcore , but this is great stuff,nonetheless! They had tracks on the ,"WC500" comp ,from Wheelchair , as well as the more recent ,"Fart Filet" compilation. Imagine ,if you will , Elvis, Jimi , James Brown , The Residents, Negativland (the last 2 they channel ,effortlessly ,on the last 2 tracks ,a skit ,and a noise/sampler number) ,any drunken country singer,and Jesus , if they started a band. CAT MACHINE - Dude! ,That's Penis! a/k/a Live At Gramps's -May 1991

A short rehearsal of 4 tunes,(each member sings one) , opening for Myopia ,on this tape,(Myopia's set is here: http://sluggisha.blogspot.com/2008/11/m-y-o-p-i.html ),as well as live.One of the few tapes with a real drum set,as we usually resorted to drum machines,and other more primitive percussion. I don't know if I ever went into the meaning of the title, so,here goes: Ashey moved between Massachussetts and Florida a few times.Once ,upon his return,he was using the phrase ,"Dude! ,that's penis!" ,which he said meant ,"cool" ,up in MA. We just rolled about,and laughed,and used it for a tape title,which was the usual progression of a catchphrase,at least in Cat Machine's world.

"hey its jeffro of alto jeffro .... hahaha was wondering if you would post my old album "SATAN'S BIG RED COCK"... it has 23 songs...was recorded in 2009 ,...while i was having a nervous breakdown of sorts...... i was distraught for reasons i will not disclose..i was eating mushrooms every other day and recorded for 8-9 hours a day ...... i ended up with 400 songs after 3 months of beating my head into a wall " .A prolific young man,he's a member of a dozen or so bands,including the great ,Residents Of Mortville.This is some freaky shit!
