Elivs - Decorated Vinyl

As I am one of Finnabair patreons, I had to try out this fab idea that she showed on one of her live sessions.  So off I went to the car boot to find a vinyl LP. It was dead easy as there were loads for sale, but I settled for Elvis.

I added some stencilling to the background using icing paste.

Next I added some woodland finds, random twigs and poppy seeds.

Next I added some chipboard circles and cogs.

I started to play around with the placement of some moulds, new and old.

This is the finished piece. Not my usual colours.

I decided to challenge myself to mainly pink and red, but a bit of blue and purple crept in too.

I can't tell you what I used as I just kept going until I liked it.

I used mica powders, paints and sprays.

I added splatters to the places where there were no embellishments.

Love how the colours just mixed and ran into each other.

And the final piece again and apologies for my arms at the bottom, but there was glare from the vinyl.

RIP Bottle

A quick bottle make from me today.  Was too cold to spend too much time in the dining room.

And this is the back.

Spanner Plaque

I picked up a couple of spanners from the car boot. I also got the wood from an old pallet.

I painted it with black powertex and then used silver icing paste through a stencil.

I then started playing around with some resin and metal pieces.

I painted everything black apart from the spanner, but felt like everything got lost in the background.

So I gave the background a wash of teal.

I used silver treasure gold on all of the black pieces.  I still think it needs more definition.

So I added some rust effects to it.

I'm happy with it now and it's for sale in my online shop.

Cogs & Spoon Plaque

Remember this spoon I picked up from the car boot a few weeks ago?

I used my new Finn stencil and silver icing paste to put the pattern on this piece of wood.

I glued a piece of lace over the top.

Then I pulled out a few resin pieces and played around until I came up with something that I likes.

I painted on some prussian blue and sprayed water on it to dilute the colour.

Painted all the elements black except the spoon.

Next I sprayed the pieces with Decoart turquoise metallic spray.

Once dry, I used my new favourite colour of alchemy wax brushed iron, to high-light parts of the embellishments.

I decided to paint the spoon silver.

And a close up of the other end, the fancy handle.

And finally the middle of the spoon.

This is going up for sale in my online website.

Master Mind Online Workshop with Belinda Basson

All set up and ready to go.

We had to perform a lobotomy so I had my styrofoam cutter at the ready.

And now we have  the top of the head spliced off, we can make a start.

Next we covered the head with random pieces of silver sticky foil.

And used a ball point pen to add some marks.

Then the classic, cover with black paint and wipe most of it off again so the paint stays in the impressions made with the pen.

Then the piece for the top was put through an embossing folder, cut out and stuck on the top.

And the same treatment to the top using the black paint again and wiping back.

Painted the cogs black and then used brushed iron alchemy wax over the top.

Then I started to assemble the gears on the top of the head.

The gears are now dry and thankfully they stayed in place.

And the side view from the right.

And the back of the head.

And the left side view.

Then Janet came to my rescue providing me with some plastic green soldiers - thank you.

And a close up of the top with the soldiers mounted on there.

A more frontal view.

And from the back but to the side.

And the view from the back square on.

And another back and side view.

And a close up view of the top.

I decided that I needed to put it on a proper base.  So I painted a piece of wood black, then I created a skin using an embossing folder and Finnabair icing paste in silver.  Once dry I peeled it off and stuck it to the piece of wood.

Once dry, I used a cheap black dye inkpad and swooshed it over the top and as you can see it only caught the raised pieces.

I then glued the head onto the base.

And a close up of the base and bottom of neck.
