Gothic Style Shaker Plaque

After watching a 'free' youtube video class by the lovely Anna aka Finnabair, I made this.

A shaker plaque made from recycled wood and a plastic dome.

Close up of the shaker part of the plaque.

The bat looked a bit plain so I added a rub on.

And the image of what is in the shaker is revealed.

Another Book Page Play

I made a few more embellishments as I'd not done anything previously in green. I also played around with some layouts.

And another layout using my new to me spellbinder border dies.

And another one with a few alterations.

Then when I went to stick it in my black book, I realised that I'd made it the wrong way round. Sums up the day I had really!

Fabric Tags

I collected a few bits of scrap fabrics together last night which is why the photo is dark. Played around with them seeing what went together.

This morning I switched them around a bit and glued them down onto card.

Once stuck, I cut the fabric around the card.

Next I added some trims.

These are my finished fabric tags.

Close ups - the butterfly is cut from a piece of fabric.

I used a playing card for the focal point on this one.

I changed this one up as the original piece of fabric I wanted to use was very bulky.

Created a frame for this image.

Another framed image.

Finished tags on the grass.

Cherub Canvas

So I watched this video posted on FB and just had to have a go. Quite pleased with how it turned out for a first go, but next time I need to be more generous with the powertex.

Close up of the fab crackle with the ivory powertex and the bisters.

I used kitchen roll to frame the picture and added in a little powertex cherub and some small wooden hearts.

Altered Key Ring and Envie

Over on a FB group I've joined we were sent a key ring to alter and then send on to our swap partner. I went very simple just using raspberry and sail boat blue alcohol inks on the frame, cut a printed image out and left the front panel clear.

This is the back.

And of course I then needed an envelope to send it in. So reaching for one of my many gelli plate prints I made this envelope and stamped and doodled over it to create some interest. PaperArtsy have a theme this week of mail art, so I'm entering the envie.

Oriental Bottle

Having watched a mini clip from DecoArt by Mark Montano showcasing the new Alice Through the Looking Glass release which you can see here, I decided to take his idea but go my own way with it. I covered my bottle with oriental text paper.

Once dry, I gave it a coat of quinacridone red as I wanted to still be able to see the text through the paint. Next I added an oriental image, a couple of strips of washi tape and I cut three flowers from some netting material, a strip from a piece of squared lacy stuff for the back and a piece of red and gold material to go up the right hand side of the image.

I painted the flowers with various colours of metallic lustres, rose gold, turquoise and red. The ladder style lace at the back was painted with the black shimmer lustre.

I outlined the flowers with a black sharpie pen and added black square gem stones in the centers.

I also outlined the red/gold fabric in black too, you can just see a bit of it on the right.

Love how you can still see the text through the paint.

I added a few strands of fibres and a Chinese coin to the bottle neck.

I wasn't too sure what to do with the top as I didn't have anything suitable to put inside to make a top, so I simply covered it with ribbon and stuffed the end in the top of the bottle.

You can see the red / gold outlined fabric better on this photo.

And here is the finished bottle.

All products are from the DecoArt range and don't forget to check out Marks short video.

Fabric Canvas

This is a christmas present I made for Emma as she's loving fabric at the moment. It's basically a tea bag fold structure using pieces of fabric on a 5" x 7" canvas board.

And I was so pleased how neat the back came out, that I just had to show you.

Mini Book with Sleeve

I cut some chipboard pieces, scrunched up some tin foil and covered each piece. I made a little niche for the front.

I mixed some ultra matte varnish with black gesso, just to help the gesso stick to the tinfoil.

I dry brushed white gesso over the top once dry and then used some copper metallic lustres over the pieces to hi-light the texture.

I made a mini book to actually fit inside another tray for another swap, but because I covered the chipboard pieces with denim, it was too thick to fit!! Inside are three signatures of two double pages of different handmade papers and I stamped an image on each page in timber brown stazon.

I decorated the mini book with some lace and a few gems.

So here is the book and the sleeve to house it.

Then I decided that the front needed something, so I found this image in my stash, cut it down to size and added a couple of idea-ology word stickers.

Here they are together.

And the book fits nicely inside the sleeve. The sleeve measures approx 9cm x 6cm just to give you an idea of size.

Products are from the DecoArt range.
