Altered Photo Frame

I decorated an old photo frame with fibre paste and tar gel, once dry I painted with black pearl acrylic paint.  For the inside I embossed a couple of pieces of silver foil tape, covered in black gesso and wiped back.

I used gilding paste and metalic flakes on the embellishments and I coloured the skull with liquid acrylics.  The words are T!m Holtz chipboard quotes.

OoOooh Excited for GD spot for Stampotique

I've been sworn to secrecy for months now, but I can finally let the cat out the bag. I was asked by the Stapotique team if I wanted to be considered for a GD position and if so which month.  I chose October for two reasons, firstly I was at college for my teaching qualification until June, which I duly completed and now have a certificate for, and secondly October is my birthday month.

I was asked to make 4 projects, 2 for the challenge blog and 2 for either the designers blog or the Stampotique blog. Sam Read has chosen the theme for the first week of the challenge blog and she chose ATC's.

I took an atc sized (3.5" x 2.5") piece of white card and the salty ocean distress ink pad and simply placed the pad directly onto the card and applied some pressure.  I stamped the spidergrass in versamark ink and embossed it with vanilla white wow powder.  I then over stamped it with black versafine. I stamped the beauty verse onto white card, cut the words out and outlined each of them in black pen.  Finally I edged the atc in black pen.

As I'd also chosen these two stamps to work with, single tear and love travels I decided to make another Atc.  The background is shades of fresco greens, with vanilla diamonds stencilled over them, but then I gave the atc a few layers of bees wax.  I stamped the single tear directly onto the wax. The verse was stamped onto white card, cut into single words and each word was edged in black pen and stuck onto the atc with glossy accents which stuck to the wax quite well.  I then placed the Atc into a 2.5" x 3.5" photo frame.  So two reasons why it's not photographed that well, the wax and the glass, both giving off glare!!  But you get the general idea.

Distressed Swap - Lotstodo

I used rusty hinge and crushed olive distressed inks on the background, then swooshed over it with timber and saddle brown stazon, added a bit of olive green to the edges. The frame has a sort of coating on it so it's dried all shimmery, see how the light has caught it top right, hopefully it still looks distressed. I added a photo of Mona and some of T!m's metal foliage.

Another one

This one was done in exactly the same way as the one below except I used 3 strips of different papers on the image. The background paper is one I'd made a while ago using leaves as a mask

And this is it in the frame, again got a reflection from the glass

Been Playing

With inkjet transparency film. Printed the image onto the film and then made a collage of different papers behind it. In this one, she has a blue love heart on her nose!!! I then added a piece of music paper which I burnt the outside edges with lemon juice, a paper doyle which I covered with walnut crystal ink, a piece of Sir T!m's distressed paper, a couple of flowers, a flourish, a bit of ribbon inked with distress walnut stain ink and the word hope. I have placed it in a clip photoframe, but it didn't photograph well in the frame because of the reflection of the glass. It is actually quite large, the page/frame measures 10" x 8"

Lotstodo Week 25 - Haberdashery

This started life as a round wooden photo frame found in the charity shop for £1.50, that was until I got my hands on it!!! I simply tore strips of paper from my new Brenda Walton 12 x 12 Maison Scrap Pad, and stuck them on. Inked a doylie and cut the middle out, stuck it to the frame and added buttons, ribbon and string

Photo Frame

It will soon be Laurens birthday so I thought it would be nice to send her this framed photo of her and Fraz taken when they came down for their holiday in April. They did make another visit not so long ago, first May Bank Holiday, but the weather wasn't great and the camera never came out of my pocket!!! I hope she likes it.

The wooden frame was sanded down, given a coat of gesso, given a coat of aged mahogany crackle paint and sanded again to reveal some of the gesso layer

Hilda's Birthday Present

It's my mate Hilda's birthday today - I won't tell you how old she is though!!! So I made this box frame for her. I cut a piece of corrigated cardboard 6 x 6 to fit in the back of the frame. I ripped pieces off it and painted it with various colours of acrylic dabbers. I made a smaller frame using my PA stamps and found an image of a little boy fit to be a little prince to sit inside it. I run a piece of metal through my dymo and stamped it with 'little prince' and attached it to the bottom of the little frame. I put bits of an old watch into a bottle top and filled it with diamond glaze and attached it top right, put an old rusty key with silver wires wrapped around it underneath and added a row of washers and a cog. I added the word 'always' top left with a piece of metal running through it. Using my cuttlebug I die cut the words ' what do you see?', stuck them to the outside of the large frame and added a few washers. I then covered the outsides of the frame with sticky aliminium foil and rubbed over with my brayer and paperstump. I was going to use alcohol inks to colour it but I decided I quite liked it plain - hope Hilda likes it.

Lotstodo Week 4 - You've Been Framed

I tore a piece of newspaper to make a frame, added an image, a newspaper flower, a piece of grungeboard and 3 brads. I used a variety of shades of brown inks.

This started life as a red plastic frame. I painted it with copper acrylic dabbers. I wrapped wire and beads around the frame before using rub offs to add the word 'inspired' and then added an image and a piece of ribbon.

TGIF - Dogs

Hilda is TGIF's guest designer this week. She has chosen the theme dogs. I made this frame as a christmas present for Lauren, Andrea's daughter, but for some reason forgot to take a photo of it before I sent it. But Andrea came to the rescue and took one for me, so here is my doggie frame with Alfie and Fraz inside!!!!

Another Altered Photoframe

Went to my local craft shop today for some retail therapy and they had a sale on Jo Sonia paints, so I picked a few bottles up and had a play with them. I created this photoframe, with a pale green, pale blue and a purple. I stamped the leave images with olive stazon and added the embellishments which I'd previously made using my melt pot and added the letters to make nature

Altered Photoframe

This is my altered photoframe for a swap I am hosting on Lotstodo Forum. I gesso'd it, then lightly scrubbed olive and timber stazon ink all over the frame. Using cut n dry foam I then inked a combination of spiced marmalade, frayed burlap and peeled paint distressed inks over the top. Finally, I stamped script in each corner, a crackle image across the top and bottom and a key on each of the sides, all in timber stazon ink - To see the finer detail, you really need to click on the image

Finished UTEE Photoframe

Thought I'd share this. This is my finished product, a present for Lauren, using the UTEE photoframe I created previously. We all know how much she adores Fraz and how much he loves his friz

Framed UTEE

This one was made by pouring the coloured UTEE onto the craft mat and placing the heart cookie cutter into it in order to cut out the shape, a face with hair, and a turtle were added to embellish. I intend to put a photo behind the heart shape and set the piece onto mount board

Distressed Photoframe

This is my distressed photo and frame that I have made for the distressed swap. I used crackle paint to cover the frame - peeled paint. After it had dried and crackled, I rubber over it with the walnut distressed ink pad - I love the effect. For the picture, I cut up the Eiffel Tower, the Paris and the Postmark, again from Sir Tim's papers. The black and white photo in the middle I distressed using my cut n dry nibs to hi-lite some of the flowers and the red rose the young man is holding and used antique linen to distress and discolour the whole image. Finally I used caramel alcohol inks around the edges of glass
