Steampunk / Gothic Chest / Coffin / Tomb

Painted a mini chest with black gesso, added some stenciling with black modeling paste. Add a section of a decoupage queens and kings 12 x 12 paper and some steampunk pieces.

This is the top of the lid.

I put a skull face on each of the smaller sides.

Stenciling on the back.

I put some of the papers inside and then a skeleton for good measure.

Added a couple of spiders and a chain as the lid was too heavy.

Next I added some fibre paste to the edges and corners.

Then it was just a case of colouring it up to how I wanted it to look.

It opens and closes perfectly.

Skeleton in a Coffin

 

I bought some plastic skellies from Pound Stretcher. I pulled the head off and added a pair of bat wings.

Then I positioned the arms and put the head between them and just sat it in the coffin shape purely just to dry, or so I thought!

Then, just to keep everything together, I placed the lid on the top of the box.

I decided to decorate the coffin. I used texture paste through a stencil and painted everything black.

I used white paint to dry brush to bring out the textures.

I was playing with the idea of what to put on the coffin and I ended up with just these two.

The rain stopped so took the opportunity to take some photos outside.

Skellie in a Coffin

 

I picked up some plastic skellies and skulls.  I decided he needed a coffin.  So I made one out of cardboard.

I gave it a coat of black powertex and played around with some fabrics and resin pieces.

Then I decided I wanted to mount it on something and use a technique shown to us by Finn aka Anna, in one of her live shows.

After a coat of black powertex I dry brushed in white.

Then to see how he fitted in the box with the fabric in.

Once I was happy with everything I mounted the coffin on the background piece.
