Altered CD Swap

Over on Mini Marvels FB group there is an altered cd challenge for October. There is also the option of a swap.

Chose some patterned backing paper and glued it to the cd.

Cut around the cd, this is the back.

And this is the front.

Next I edged the cd with black rik rac, added some French themed embossed die cuts and a black rose.

I decided it needed a little something else, so added some white gems around the edge.

To hide the attached piece of rik rac for the hanger, I cut a circle of striped paper and glued it to the back of the cd.

PaperArtsy have a theme of die cuts this time around, so I'm entering my altered cd.

Making Faces

I stamped 3 styles of faces onto various different bases, ie matt card, glossy card and different thickness's of tissue paper.

Then I played with some backgrounds using silver mirri card, embossing folders, alcohol inks and treasure gold.

Then black card, embossing folders, metallic pan pastels and treasure gold.

And created these. Here they are in more detail below.

Image from T!m Holtz Classics #5 set, coloured with portfolio pastels on white matt card. Background embossed script coloured with metallic PP's and a piece of embossed mirri card and words added.

Left - Sunset and Lemonade alcohol inks onto glossy card, pieces of coloured cd added to decorate.
Middle - coloured with distress marker pens, ripped and posca pen doodling added.
Right - coloured with portfolio pastels, ripped and edged in black pen. Piece of blue coloured acetate over eye.
Image used on all by Hampton Art and all mounted onto plain black card.

Image from T!m Holtz Artful Artifacts stamp plate. Coloured with portfolio pastels, mount onto black card. Silver mirri card embossed in Dymo machine with 'obsession' and coloured with stream alcohol ink and black paint. Cd pieces used to embellish.

And finally this image was stamped onto glossy card with versa mark and heat embossed in black embossing powder. Coloured with metallic colours of perfect pearls, added onto a piece of black card and white posca pen doodling.

CD Revival

I've been playing around with a couple of old Cd's.

I cut the first one into sections and stamped on the shiny side of each one using black stazon. If you're going to try this, you need to slightly heat the cd before you cut it or it will just crack!!

I added sail boat and lemonade alcohol inks which mixed and made the green. The circle in the middle of the face is my camera reflecting!!

This piece was coloured with sunset orange alcohol inks and some smaller pieces coloured in lemonade.

I didn't add anything to this piece, just the stamping.  For the background I scrunched up a piece of sticky silver foil and stuck in onto a piece of card and coloured with black soot alcohol ink.

For the background I heat embossed flourishes and script with white wow powder and coloured with shades of blue and silver pan pastels. I coloured the stamped cd piece with juniper alcohol ink and mounted on a piece of frayed fabric.

And the idea for my final piece was inspired by Jo's first project over on the PA blog.  I haven't used any of the materials she did, just the idea she used of lining up her moths. I took some pieces of cd, left a gap between each piece and stamped two of T!m's butterflies.

For the second cd I decided to colour each of the pieces this time before I stamped on them.

I stamped with black stazon directly onto each piece of the cd. I much prefer the pieces that I completely coloured as opposed to the partly coloured ones.

Background for this one is coloured with portfolio pastels and I added a gem to they eye as I didn't like the placement of it over the alcohol ink.

Background is coloured in pan pastels, a piece of tulle was anchored under the eyelets and then using the heat gun, shrivelled and burnt. Rock star was added in seedless preserve distress ink.

Oooh for this one I used my new pan pastel metallics, the pewter and the silver really compliment each other. Stamping added in black stazon along with sticky silver embossed panel and wire.

Using shades of green distress ink and Dina Wakely stamps I created the background with the grunge trees stamped in black archival.

And finally copper embossed script coloured with a blend of copper and bronze metallic pan pastels. Eyelets added to attach the cd piece each with a strip of  melted organza.
