Elivs - Decorated Vinyl

As I am one of Finnabair patreons, I had to try out this fab idea that she showed on one of her live sessions.  So off I went to the car boot to find a vinyl LP. It was dead easy as there were loads for sale, but I settled for Elvis.

I added some stencilling to the background using icing paste.

Next I added some woodland finds, random twigs and poppy seeds.

Next I added some chipboard circles and cogs.

I started to play around with the placement of some moulds, new and old.

This is the finished piece. Not my usual colours.

I decided to challenge myself to mainly pink and red, but a bit of blue and purple crept in too.

I can't tell you what I used as I just kept going until I liked it.

I used mica powders, paints and sprays.

I added splatters to the places where there were no embellishments.

Love how the colours just mixed and ran into each other.

And the final piece again and apologies for my arms at the bottom, but there was glare from the vinyl.

Altered Steampunk Brandy Bottle

It started with an empty Bardinet VSOP French Brandy bottle.

I painted the bottle with black powertex and then a covering of Pebeo Dyna paint.

I then put on a coat of PVA glue, covered in a layer of black powertex and heated until cracks stated to appear.  I tied string around the steampunk plate embellishment as I wanted it to dry in that position on the bottle.

Once dry I added the other embellishments.

Steampunk Dragonfly Altered Bottle

Lovely shaped empty gin bottle.

Firstly I gave the bottle a coat of black powertex and once dry a coat of Pebeo Dyna paint.

I made some resin casts from the moulds and I tied the steampunk plate onto the bottle to get it to hold in the position I wanted it be.

I did this one different as I painted all the pieces first and then used the powertex to glue them on.

And finally I added a few sparkly sprinkles for a bit of bling.

More Decorated Spirit Bottles

My work colleagues saved some bottles for me.

Painted them in the garden with a coat of black powertex and they dried really quickly outside.

I painted the bottles and added some resin pieces.

I added some textures using fibre paste, easy structure and sandballs mixed with gel.

Repainted over the textures.

Painted the resin pieces with acrylic paints and waxes.

And I painted over the easy structure flourishes with acrylic paint.

I painted over this one with gold paint and randomly added silver treasure gold.

And I used gold and silver on the resin pieces.

This one, I only used silver on the resin pieces.

And finally the gin bottle which I covered in powertex and then a coat of pewter metallic paint and then added the embellishments, coloured them with metallic paints and treasure gold.

And this is the other side, there is no right or wrong for the back or front. You can just turn it round when you get bored of one side.

Large Boho Fabric Tags

Coloured some pieces of lace with DW and Pebeo paint.

Covered the tag with fabrics and added lace and gems.

Patterned paper on the back.

Close up of the tassels and the gems.

Sewed around the edges. Not neat, but it wasn't meant to be.

Tag two initially covered with one piece of fabric.

Back of the tag, patterned paper.

This was cut from another piece of fabric and gems added.

Gems added to the painted lace.

Another piece of fabric added and also a part of a doily which has been painted.

The two tags side by side. They are quite large, approx 8.5" x 5.5".

Powertex tags

I had some Powertex left in my tray, so I grabbed three little tags to use it up.

I coloured the left one with bisters, the middle one with hi flow inks and the right one with acrylic paint.

Then I played with pigments and the Powerwax until I was happy with what I had, adding and removing colours as I went along.

Once I'd decided I was there, I left them a couple of hours to dry in the sun and then did some dry brushing over the top with the ivory Powertex.

Close ups of the dry brushing with the ivory Powertex. I think they came out pretty good and I have no preference over the different mediums I used, it just depends what effect you are going for.
